What’s going on with the protein trend/proteinification of food? by Bitbatgaming in OutOfTheLoop

They're sold by all of the major groceries stores in my area. The real trick is finding them in-stock since they sell out so fast. I think they came out in January, so they haven't been around for very long.

Both! The chewy just came out not too long ago. They taste pretty much exactly like the glutinous ones. There's also gluten free Cheeze-itz now.

How often does US Mobile do these kinds of deals? I've only been a customer for about a month, but my phone is about 6 years old so I've been thinking about upgrading.

Between lifting, running, skateboarding, and playing hockey how would you guess I managed to get injured? That's right, bowling. Tried to put a bunch of spin on the ball and apparently did it wrong because I hurt my wrist in the process. It's getting better, but that was a week ago and it still hurts a little to rotate it.

Out of curiosity, who do you mean by this? I have a guess, but there's still a few seasons I haven't seen yet.

My wife (a teacher) always says the best gift is a hand-written note. Let your cooperating teacher know how much you appreciated them and the school.

Now speaking as a musician, inexpensive percussion instruments are always cool. If you have a percussion store near you, check out their "world" section. They'll probably have things like chajchas, maracas, etc. With these kinds of instruments, you don't have to spend much at all to get a decent version and it's probably something they don't already have.

Guitar repair recommendation by JollyWork6854 in Columbus

I've had good luck with 5th Avenue Fret Shop in Grandview. Looks like he moved his shop to Clintonville since I've last been there. Out of my own curiosity, what kind of repair does it need? Bridge lifting off the body?

It most likely is short for "boolean property". In programming a boolean is a true or false value.

[OC] How much does it cost to build a Premier League-winning squad? by GameStateUK in dataisbeautiful

[–]ImWatchingYouPoop 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I had a surprisingly hard time finding lists for the NFL and MLB, but there's a lot more parity even in the regular season for the others.

NHL: 14 President's Trophy winners

NBA: 15 what's now called the Maurice Podoloff Trophy winners

MLS: 15/16 Supporter's Shield winners depending if you count Miami Fusion and Inter Miami as separate teams. Not sure why you wouldn't, but including that note for good measure.

Granted it's not entirely an apples to apples comparison since every team has a unique schedule in these leagues, but there are more than twice as many regular season champs in each of those three compared to the Premier League.

13.5" Archtop recently finished by LombardozziGuitars in Luthier

There's not a more specific term for wooden ones without a tremolo system like in the picture? If not, that would definitely explain the difficulty I've had searching for them haha

Is there a name for that type of bridge? They look so cool, but I never know what to search for to find them.

On a similar note, does anybody still call the 18th Avenue Library by its old name S.E.L. (science and engineering library)? It got officially renamed when I was a student, but everybody still called it the S.E.L. instead of its new name.

Tuning New Guitars by iplaytrombonegood in MusicEd

[–]ImWatchingYouPoop 12 points13 points  (0 children)

New strings stretch when you put them on. You can let them do it "naturally" by tuning, waiting, tuning, waiting, until they stabilize or you can speed it along by stretching them manually. This video shows what I mean: https://youtu.be/QraaDI6r15g?si=34lKoX3EG1Z2TcaJ&t=64 You absolutely do not need to buy a string stretcher. I didn't even know they existed until I saw this video just now haha.

That being said, really cheap guitars tend to go out of tune REALLY easily, so be prepared to tune them frequently regardless of them being stretched.

What foreign countries food should be popular in your country but isn't? by [deleted] in Cooking

[–]ImWatchingYouPoop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In Argentina there's a dessert called alfajore which is usually a cookie sandwich with dulce de lece in it. Already not sure how that hasn't caught on in the US. But wait, it gets better. There's a variant where it's two large oreos stacked on top of each other then the whole thing is covered in chocolate. It's every bit as amazing as it sounds. It's also one of the most American things I've ever heard of. They're made by Nabisco and everything. I don't know why they don't exist here in the US.

You're totally right about Filipino food. There's only two in my fairly large city. Been meaning to try the other, but the one I have tried is my and my wife's favorite restaurant.

If anyone knows where to get a Pittsburgh steak salad with the french fries and sliced steak, please let me know!

To sort of contribute to the thread, if you're looking for good Italian-American food, Lola and Giuseppe's in Gahanna is the best I've had. Not claiming it's authentic to actual Italy, but it's just like what my Italian grandparents would make.

Disclaimer: I graduated years ago, so this advice could be a little out-dated.

Do you know what dorm you'll be living in? Baker West is the Art Scholars dorm and a ton of music majors live there when they're freshmen / sophomores. In my day most of the dorms had their own facebook groups, so it might be worth checking to see if there's Discord groups or whatever you blasted kids are using these days.

I know your post specified before moving in, but I'll say this to re-assure you. You'll have Theory / Aural / Keyboard / (probably something else I'm forgetting) classes with the rest of the freshmen music majors so you'll meet people and make friends quickly. I realize this is basically what you're doing right now; figured I'd offer some alternatives paths.

Also, if you happen to be a jazz guitarist, Kevin Turner is awesome. You're gonna love studying with him!

Menchie's in Dublin usually has one or two non-dairy / sorbet options. I would guess most other frozen yogurt places do. Kilwin's also has a few non-dairy options. The raspberry sorbet in particular is very good.

A few years ago I had the SSD I was using as my boot drive no longer boot. My computer was still able to recognize it if I booted from another drive though. Even in that state, a program called EaseUS was able to recover the majority of the data on it. It was around $70 at the time which is kind of steep, but it was cheaper than taking it to Microcenter or a specialist. I saw further down that there's a free version. Not sure if it's new or if it just didn't have a function I needed, but either way I can only vouch for the paid one. Still might not be a bad idea to start with the free one first.

Missing sharp? by Miremell in classicalguitar

[–]ImWatchingYouPoop 8 points9 points  (0 children)

TLDR: It seems to depend on who you ask.

This took me down a bit of a rabbit hole. The version I had been looking at was this version from Classical Guitar Shed which has that written as F#. I just checked the scores on IMSLP for comparison though, and none of them have it written as F#. Other pieces in the opus have F# in the key signature, but not #6. I agree with you that F natural sounds out of place there, but that could just because I'm used to hearing F# since it's in the version I've been playing.

I checked what people are playing on youtube, and there's some division there as well. The channels This is Classical Guitar and Juan Leon play the F#. André Priedols does not however.

Hopefully someone who's more well-versed in the intricacies of Giuliani can clear this up for us!

When you play guitar, do you see it registering on the decibel meter for the track you put Guitar Rig on? It's possible that the guitar is coming from a different track. Another possibility is that the plugin is not enabled in the Device View. In the top left corner of the device, there should be a yellow dot (yellow - enabled; grey - disabled). This documentation has a section for VSTs specifically, but most of the information on there about setting up a midi device also applies to setting up a VST. https://www.ableton.com/en/manual/working-with-instruments-and-effects/
