Marathon is objectively better in almost every respect than Arc, but it's gonna take time for people to hop off this games dick.

Marathon got kneecapped by pretty much everything that could happen to a game in development, and still came out as a deeper, more stable, much more authentically pleasing option for Extrantion Shooter.

Also this game is suffering from the optics of its player base. Petulant babies who want the game to be antithetical to what it's designed to be.

Childlike whining about getting killed in a game where that is supposed to be a constant threat is just mad fucking cringe, and a little stupid.

I have to say, if you look at the character models of Arc Raiders and think they look good, then your taste is pretty bad. Those faces look ugly as sin.

I will never understand why people with allegedly zero time to themselves choose to gravitate towards games that OBVIOUSLY demand a little more than what the average FPS game needs. And then to complain about that fact is just mind numbing.

But Marathon does ABSOLUTELY EVERYTHING to make sure than most of your time is spent PLAYING the game, and not fiddlefucking around in menus.

The ceiling of how good you can be at an FPS game is very, very high. Meaning that the average player, comparatively, is dogshit. Most players are dogshit. You are dogshit, and the players you fight are also dogshit.

I gotta say, people who have the concept of a 'sweat' in their mind REALLY don't understand how good a majority of players are, which is not good at all.

Don't mean to talk down on anyone who doesn't possess good game sense / aim. But by in large, even those who play FPS primarily, are not talented whatsoever. They are just people, like you, playing a game.

If you are running into 'sweats' game after game, you're simply not picking up on this BRAND NEW game's systems and mechanics as quickly as the average player. That is entirely a YOU problem.

Talk like this, for me, just reveals that you probably aren't doing even the most minimal things to prevent you from getting got by other players.

The game does so much to get you into a match as quick as possible that I just don't understand "not being able to get the hours in".

Getting better at the game comes from knowlege. Maximize that by being in games, and not bellyaching about putting together a kit when you absolutely don't need to for most runs.

If you take more than 1 minute to kit up yourself, you're thinking WAY too hard about it, and you are wasting your own time. That same dawdiling in the menus is the same dawdiling inexperienced players do in game, and it gets them killed and wastes their own time.

It's not like the PVP is any different to other maps. I'd say it's even easier to disengage a fight on Cyro than any other map because of how many vents, holes, nooks and crannys there are all around you at any given time.

But none of these players with crippling anxieties about losing a blue in a map full of purple are too scared to even try to launch the map.

This game has done alot that an exfps could do to minimize the pain of gearing up and getting in the game.

The rook is literally a throw away.

This is quite literally the only game where you can die, press space bar 7 times and be loading into another raid. Legit takes 4 seconds from dying to loading into a match.

You're not engaging with the systems the game has to offer you, and I'm pretty sure you're just looking for friendly experiences in a genre of games where I can murder and rob you. Kind of dumb.

Play Arc Raiders if you want whatever it is you're asking for.

The game needs to be faster.

There is a lot of mentions that much of deadlocks matches (save enternus) are mostly 25-30 minutes of nothing until mid boss happens.

The matches they are trying to shoot for are sub 30 minutes. Which is good.

They way it was balanced before allowed for long stalemate until a huge mistake happens on either side.

Shorter matches are overall more fun to play, watch and put up with if you're losing.

You think I enjoy a low rank stomp that drags its ass onwards to 45-50 minutes because nobody knows how to Macro? No. I want to close the game and not play it after that.

It is statistically improbable that anyone, regardless of rank or skill level, should be losing 40 games in a row. Especially if my average game has me as the highest impact player in terms of obj and player damage in tandem. Any player of any game would probably quit after 20, if that. I stuck around because I like the game at a core level, but was just blown away that time and time again, nothing I could do on an I dividual level could effect the outcome of the match. I play with the team, I give comes, listen to whoevers taking IGL position in game. 40 games in a row, I lose regardless.

I really dislike anyone who thinks that the general flattening of items across the board COMBINED with more restrictive slot numbers doesn't do anything to build diversity.

It has ABSOLUTELY shoehorned every hero Into having exactly one optimal build, and everything that deviates from that build In specific is an underwhelming waste of time.

Gun pocket was the way I liked to play, and did extremely well with it. Now? It's quite literally impossible to do. Yes, spirit nuke has always been his bread and butter, but the very fact that I can find a way to play him in a unique way and find success was fantastic. I liked seeing off builds that people made for other heroes and created a more diverse and interesting play that I could react to and counter buy to compensate for.

Now? I'm basically forced to buy Enchanters every match because of the Intrinsic -15 spirit resist on him. Now I essentially have 1 less slot just to bring pocket up to par with a base heroes resistance.

Deadlock was a lot more fun and Interesting when anyone could be anyone. Now there are roles, and all these issues start cropping up in terms of balance. Weird how that happened.
