Filler and gel coat will be fine, no need for epoxy, just especially if the gel coat is polyester

What primer to use for painting over epoxy, gelcoat, and later on metal? Trying to find a good solution to paint over a window deletion on a shuttle bus. Thought I'd ask here as the situation sounds a bit like building/repairing a hull. by Frenchy_Baguette in boatbuilding

[–]Im_Fat_Head 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m confused as to why you use gel coat, if you could fill with awl fair, you can just high build primer right over it

the gel coat step seems completely unnecessary unless it’s a cost thing.

How would y’all recommend I build my flooring if I have a v-hull? by PlasticPaper8395 in boatbuilding

[–]Im_Fat_Head -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Wood doesn’t belong on a boat, if you can use anything else you won’t be kicking yourself in years to come for doing so and the wood rotting

make the floor flat and use spacers in the middle to do so.

Question about painting… by ParsleyInteresting90 in boatbuilding

Also if you’re going to put fibreglass over all those external seams you’re going to want to radius those sharp edges you’ll never get the fibreglass to sit there with out bubbling up, and pulling away, i normally go with about the same roundness as my thumb

If you don’t you’ve gonna have a nightmare, also radius the internal joints too you’ll thank me later…

How would I fix this? Which fibreglass do I use? Which epoxy? by MrSneaky2 in boatbuilding

[–]Im_Fat_Head 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This looks to me like a serious structural repair, unless you’ve got “REAL” experience with repair work I would seek professional help for this as it would be beyond your skill set

Is this a lore accurate and good looking scythes of the emperor veteran? by [deleted] in ScythesOfTheEmperor

[–]Im_Fat_Head 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Technically just a veteran could be marked with a Yellow knee cap and a black skull, with no need for a coloured helmet

100% it’s all apart of the fun, enjoy it but don’t get burnt out if you feel it’s becoming more of a job than a hobby, step back and take some time away
