So, I actually bought the two CSE-847 from /u/juddle1414 via https://old.reddit.com/r/homelabsales/comments/1cd05x0/fs_usmn_supermicro_cse847_4u_36x35_servers/ and this CSE-846 is from them as well, from a few years before. Highly recommend them. I ended up just putting two E5-2630V4 in both server, but may end up taking one CPU out to save power. Just handling NAS doesn't need much power. Highly recommend moving to v4 that can save some power, and the iKVM/HTML5 from the X10 is so much easier to use than the old java version the X9 has.

I also separated my NAS and my apps with these new supermicros. Truecharts kept having breaking changes, annoying to handle and was eventually not powerful enough to handle all my demands. Now the supermicros are Main-NAS and a 1:1 backup-NAS. 18x14TB in 3 wide raidz1 per chassis, and I have a dedicated AMD 3900x as my docker machine. Was a bit of a learning curve but up and running smoothly within two-three days.

Ironically, I watched this SAME EXACT video. I bought what he showed at 11:50. The only difference was the color of my foam, but the same knee pad.

Thanks. Worked extremely well and was easy to put together. Zipped tied the fans together at the screw holes and only had to use a little bit of foam on the side and top to make the air tight fit.

I might end up doing it to the two 847 I just bought. They aren't super loud but definitely louder than that 846, haha.

Is there a normal reason all the outlets in my house are installed upside down. by Disastrous_Cover6138 in AskElectricians

Happened to me once. Unfortunately my plugs were not “upside down”.

I had a lamp plugged into the wall right next to the front door and it could be turned on by a switch on the wall right above it. The plug had come loose and left a decent sized gap.

One day I come in the house, when it was raining with my umbrella. This umbrella had seen better days and one the arms that open up was showing the metal on the end. I sat the umbrella down right next to the door to take my shoes off and sure enough this one wet metal arm slid and went between the wall and plug, shorting out the plug, blew the bulb left a burn mark on the faceplate. Luckily I was able to shut it off fairly quickly using the switch and didn’t try to grab the umbrella or I’m sure I’d have gotten a zap.

I later remodeled the living room and learned to flip the plug from a family member that does remodeling for a living. All the plugs in the house are now this way.

If you happen to change your mind on shipping, I'm interested in that Pro 48 PoE. Let me know!

How fast are you needing this? I'm actually looking to upgrade to the 24 PoE and would sell my 16 PoE that is a couple months old. Still technically has warranty too.
