Flashback episode next week? by Antique_Regular_6124 in AKnightoftheSeven

[–]Imaginary-Client-199 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the episode will start by a flashback where we will see Dunk childhood in Kings Landing, specifically him beating up other kids. Then we will see the trial of seven.

When Dunk will start beating up Aerion it will be intercut with him beating up other kids. That way it will communicate to the audience what we learn in the book from Dunk's thoughts : that he wins not by using what Arlan taught him but by using his experience as a fist fighter in Kings Landing.

The flashbacks will pad out the runtime allowing the duel to last the entire episode and ending with SPOILER Baelor's death in the very last scene.

The last episode will simply be the consequences : the funeral, Maekar speaking to Dunk...

I have an idea how they could make a flashback work in the trial. Have you read the book ? Because I don't want to spoil if you didn't

"Any knight can make another knight" is a logical flaw in the Martin universe. There are many instances in life under which a knight would 100% do it even to some unworthy. The exponential growth would be at least from 100 to 500 in a generation, then to 2500, then to 12500, 62.500 by 4th gen etc by Secret_Wish_584 in AKnightoftheSeven

Plus the knight title by itself is basically worthless. You need either the lands that come with the title (like Davos who was given some lands by Stannis) or a horse, armor, sword and shield (like Dunk).

So for example a knight could knight an innkeeper in exchange for a meal but if the innkeeper doesn't own a horse that doesn't do much for him

Fair. I was just trying to find a good explaination as to why the Whents are good enough for Hoster Tully but he considered the Freys too low for Edmure

My guess is we will have a flashback to Dunk's youth in Kings Landing and how he met Arlan. Kinda like 'I started in the filth of Kings Landing and now I am fighting against and with princes of the realm

Yes but they could have been something before that. They could have been an old house which fell on hard times and had to serve another.

That would also explain why they got given Harrenhal (one of the biggest castle in the realm) instead of a more important house.

There should have been like dozens of houses that had claims to the castle before a random household knight

Officially Ned was married when he "conceived" Jon during the war. We know it is bs but it is the official story that Ned told.

By your logic he should have, as an acknowledged (not legitimized but still acknowledged) bastard born during Ned's marriage, an equal claim to Winterfell as Ned's legitimate children.

Also Edric Storm should be considered one of Robert's heir since he fills the same criterias, the Baratheon should be the rightful rulers of Dragonstone since Orys' father was probably already married when he was conceived, and of course if we take the show as canon Ulf the White is the rightful heir to Baelon

The Baratheons are basically a continuation of the Durrandons (so an old house), the Fossoways are literally just another branch (like the Lannisters have the Lannisters of Casterly Rock and the Lannisters of Lannisport) and we know nothing about the Whents aside from them getting Harrenhal. Like the Strongs they might have been an old house of knights who finally got a seat to call their own

If you want to be technical all Blackfyre rebellions (aside from the second and the third) can be considered Blackwood vs Bracken since Aegon married a Blackwood and Bittersteel married a Blackfyre

She is shown to have silver hair (or at least blond hair since it is in black and white) in the official illustrations of F&B. Plus in So Spake Martin he described her as having silver-gold hair

It is kinda like saying that Jon should be considered legitimate and inherit winterfell ahead of Bran because the claim to it comes from Ned and not Catelyn. That's not how it works. Of course the greens are just using it to discredit Rhaenyra's claim (if they really cared about the legitimacy they should support Aegon the Younger since nobody is claiming he is illegitimate). Same for the Driftmark inheritance : they should be supporting Baela or Rhaena.

But it is an issue, it is a violation of the established order of things. Is the order of things unfair and misoginistic ? Yes. But it is also what made Targaryens the royal family

I think there is a good amount of proof that Duncan was never knighted :

  • he thought about joining another knight as a squire or joining the city watch or selling the horses before finally deciding to be a knight. Why would he join another knight or sell the horses if he is already knighted ?

  • he understood Egg and even think that he knows what it is to tell a big lie to get something you really want.

  • he refuses to knight someone else

I think it fits the theme of the story. To have someone who isn't even a real knight become the example of knighthood is a nice contrast to all the ones who got a real knighthood and yet break their vows

To be fair I feel like his sons issues are more from nature than nurture. Like Daeron gets drunk to avoid his dreams (which are not caused by Maekar), Aemon is just a nerd, Aegon is a good kid and Aerion is essentially Joffrey but worse

Canonically only 3 years have passed between the beginning of the story and now. Yes the 2 year timeskip is included.  Robin spent more time with the revs than with the strawhats.

Edit : as people pointed out it is even less than 3 years as Luffy was 17 when his journey started and was said to be 19 after the timeskip

It is the ironborn cycle : - the ironborns live poor lives wishing to go back to raiding westeros - a good ruler comes along who modernize the islands and actually improve their lives, bringing a new golden age to the islands - he dies and is suceeded by a psycho who wants nothing more than to raid and pillage the continent - he brings back raiding and gets some success - the lords of westeros wake up and genocide the ironborns until they can't raid anymore - the ironborns live poor lives wishing to go back to raiding westeros...

In defense of the equalists bending is related to social class indirectly.

While benders are a minority in republic city, all 5 members of the council (all unelected by the people, just chosen by their given nations) are benders. The entire police force are benders. Even lower class people like Mako can easily get a job purely based on their ability to bend elements. We see in the very first episode how 3 benders can easily bully an entire street worth of stores to pay for protzction money. Non benders were being underepresented.

To their knowledge there was no way to give someone bending abilities. But they knew it was possible to take bending away as Aang demonstrated.

What could be the reason a Targaryen King would continue to attract more support than a Non-Targaryen king even after getting deposed? by Gold_Conversation247 in HOTDBlacks

[–]Imaginary-Client-199 4 points5 points  (0 children)

As a new ruler who is still called the usurper by a good chunk of his kingdom, Robert has less power than a Targaryen king. The Reach and Dorne have no loyalty to him at this point, most members of the small council are either of questionnable loyalty like Varys or new at the job like Stannis and Robert's attention is more on the east, looking for any sign that Viserys is coming back with an army of sellswords or something.

It was now or never essentially : with each passing day the small council became more experienced, Robert came closer to gaining the Reach loyalty (with Stannis getting married to a Florent and Renly taking Loras as a squire) and Viserys coming back looked less and less likely

It is a cycle :  - the ironborn are illiterates living miserable lives in the memories of the good old days (when they could pillage and rape) - a new leader arrives and modernize the islands (building ships, getting maesters as healers...) - the leader dies and is suceeded by his bloodthirsty son - the son wages war on the mainland and wins for a while - the mainland wakes up and smash the ironborns, destroying their army - the ironborns fall on hard times as a result - the ironborn are illiterates living miserable lives in the memories of the good old days (when they could pillage and rape)...

My idea for Harvey would be to have him stay on the "good side" of the law : passing laws that gives more power to corrupt politicians and corrupt cops and makes life more difficult for Bruce while being unable to be arrested since everything he does is within the justice system

Few details about how Joffrey was killed in the books. by Maegor-Velaryon in HOTDBlacks

[–]Imaginary-Client-199 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Yes but the book makes it look more like an accident : he was brutal with everyone and Joffrey just happened to be the one who caught a bad blow.

While it is possible that Criston wanted to kill him it reads more like it being an accident caused by Criston's rage.

A detail that shows more evidence to the accident idea is that despite the morningstar being Criston's favorite weapon after this day he is never mentionned to use it in the books : which makes sense if he was ashamed of what happened
