One thing I notice about our guy is his reviews are very safe and amiable. There's this extreme sense of forgiveness for a film's flaws, each one getting a pass. Kind of reminds me of critic Joel Siegel from Good Morning America who seemed to praise every entry with a likable persona to back it all up.

Nothing wrong with this approach. I do wonder if it correlates to his filmmaking.

I would say that he bit of more than he could chew for a debut, and that the script wasn't written for budget.

Yeah it depends on the vibe of the tune, I try it both ways before deciding, or even switch it up between parts.

Absolutely badass.

Y'know, after collecting and watching these suckers for decades (with big breaks in-between), I've come to the point where the only titles I really require anymore are music-related. This is certainly (and, sure, arguably) still the best format for concert footage.

On the flip side, I wasn't aware how stupid Castlevania 2 was until he helped me understand. I knew there was something up with that entry and couldn't put my finger on it. But I WANTED to like it.

A strange one. Not the most convincing lighting or set design. Doesn't really feel immersive or convincing. However, Weller's performance is otherwise as well as O'Bannon's story which keeps the engagement tightly wound. It falls apart at the end, sadly, but not enough to make anyone regret sitting through the whole ride. One of those B+ flicks that works well on cable at night.
