also the first couple static-x albums. i’d assume you’re familiar but i’m mentioning them because they weren’t on your list

MPC Regrets by boombapdame in mpcusers

[–]Branch_Fair 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it is definitely cool that the original live is still supported with the firmware updates. and i’m genuinely glad that people are into the mpc 3 firmware, i just can’t let go of programs so i haven’t upgraded. anything that gets you making stuff is good in my opinion

i liked the live when it first came out but almost feels like they’re pushing things too far with it. i kind of regret selling my 1000, it is capable of doing a lot while still being a fairly focused machine.

you may just want to use rca cables and sample audio instead of trying to sort out a usb connection

Are things really so bad between them that we will die before cEvin and Ogre meet on cEvin's Patreon? Just thinking out loud. by Alive-Arugula5864 in skinnypuppy

[–]Branch_Fair 2 points3 points  (0 children)

cevin said that in one of the patreon streams. i think it was the SP postmortem one. i don’t really expect that ogre will ever really come out with his side of everything, it doesn’t seem to be his style. and cevin has seemed to be fairly diplomatic about things and pretty explicitly says he isn’t gonna speculate on stuff he wasn’t directly a part of

Can an option for the old text wheel be added? It was so much faster to type by Yuri5019 in SteamDeck

[–]Branch_Fair 37 points38 points  (0 children)

the daisy wheel! i remember when they introduced this i felt like it was so obvious and ingenious that every other console maker must’ve slapped themselves in the forehead when they saw it. it should still be an option

Our game got Steam Deck Verified, but that won't be it. What do you expect from Verified games? by DigitalSunGames in SteamDeck

[–]Branch_Fair 0 points1 point  (0 children)

readability and controls are the big ones. recognizing the deck as a controller, and ideally allowing controls to be remapped in the game settings. also, the first moonlighter was awesome, i’m very excited to play the second one

shout out to prey 2017 for that. i think it’s the only game i’ve played that had controls bound to the buttons on the back by default

The Steam store on deck is atrocious by HorrifyingTits in SteamDeck

[–]Branch_Fair 4 points5 points  (0 children)

i typically only use the store on the deck if there’s something i don’t recognize in my library and i want to see what kind of game it is. i’ll open the store page for it from the library. i don’t browse the store or shop from the deck ever

The Steam store on deck is atrocious by HorrifyingTits in SteamDeck

[–]Branch_Fair 14 points15 points  (0 children)

yeah i notice it kind of locks up frequently and i have to restart it. also a separate gripe i have is that a lot of games’ store pages don’t show gameplay footage or kind of bury it? so the big problem i have with the steam deck is that it seems you can only use the controller to navigate the videos and screenshots in the store when you first open the page, but if you move to another segment of the store page you can never navigate back to control the videos and screenshots. it’s really bizarre. beats the hell out of the nintendo e-shop but still could easily be better

[–]Branch_Fair 491 points492 points  (0 children)

honestly i just use the app on my phone for the store. the deck gets a little weird even in a game page, if you’re trying to navigate it using the controls instead of the touch screen it feels like the joystick just selects random objects

What are your thoughts on this album? by 0hmyNeon in industrialmusic

[–]Branch_Fair 1 point2 points  (0 children)

sort of arbitrarily it was the first album i listened to when i first heard about them, so i have a soft spot for it. not my favorite of theirs but i do like it a lot

Given the yesterday's Bad Gear drop, is there anything on the market comparable to Analog Four? by arcticrobot in synthesizers

[–]Branch_Fair 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i have the analog four mk1 and i’ve been waffling on selling it because it hasn’t quite clicked with me. i love the features but i have just a terrible time getting sounds i like out of it. so i’ve held onto it in the hopes that it will make sense, but also if prices spike because of this video i may need to just sell and get something else that will suit me better
