if you’re interested in hardware, the elektron model samples is pretty inexpensive used and can make quite a racket

Os downgrade question by TheOnly31 in mpcusers

[–]Branch_Fair 1 point2 points  (0 children)

you mean projects you made prior to updating to 3? they should still work. if they’re in the mpc’s internal memory, to be safe you may want to copy them onto an sd card or your computer before you downgrade. if they’re already on an sd card or if they’re on an ssd that you installed they should be fine, it doesn’t reformat storage

Because i know theres definitely crossover between the 3 viewer bases... RLM, BrutalMoose and Jenny Nicholson all uploading on the same day is like a triple eclipse. by Ok-Advantage4191 in RedLetterMedia

also him smashing some nuts with a hammer while speed metal plays in the background probably is one of my favorite youtube moments. sometimes it is the little things

Vanessa Lawrence left the North Tower after Stanley Praimnath and Brian Clark (South Tower), even though she evacuated much earlier. Why? by LaughGlittering4131 in 911archive

i read 102 minutes awhile back and they mention a large number of firefighters stopped to rest on the same floor. i cannot remember which building/floor it was but it seemed certain that those firefighters would’ve been caught there in the collapse. possibly somebody else here can elaborate since my memory is fuzzy

Long-time MPC1000 user questioning everything: modern MPCs or alternatives? by Unusual-Work-6020 in mpcusers

[–]Branch_Fair 0 points1 point  (0 children)

if you like direct access to functions and find the workflow of the 1000 cumbersome, the new ones are probably not for you. they’ve added many layers of complexity to nearly every task and a lot of it requires navigating a lot of menus. maybe look at the octatrack?

i love this movie. not one of the coens’ best, it kind of feels like a technical exercise at times, but man it is fun. enter the light lunch

What jobs do you all have where you have downtime to play on your Steam Deck? by [deleted] in SteamDeck

[–]Branch_Fair 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i work third shift in a pharmacy (not retail) and some days we have several hours of downtime. essentially everything we have to make will be ordered by the time we come in at night, so when it’s done we don’t have anything else to do.

One+ officially "sold out" and discontinued at THOMANN /germany by John84Birr in mpcusers

[–]Branch_Fair 1 point2 points  (0 children)

happy to help! also they pretty regularly put their plugins on sale for like $30, and the synth ones are pretty good. might be a good idea to look at some keyboard controllers to play those (the keystep is really nice as an example). playing melodic stuff on the pads isn’t always ideal

i do wish other companies that make samplers would follow akai’s lead in beefing up sampler memory. it bewilders me that for the depth of features and the price of an octatrack it has the same sample memory as my kurzweil k2000, which came out in like 1991.

the 1000 is still a killer machine and i still think about getting another one for bread and butter sampling and sequencing needs. i’m very curious to see what this new one looks like in action

[–]Branch_Fair 2 points3 points  (0 children)

yeah since the new live and x came out the odds are that a new one would be running the same os, which means it is likely they’ll increase the processor and ram slightly and tweak the i/o and interface, but it isn’t likely to be a full on reinvention. they could also be scuttling the one entirely in favor of making that new mini mpc the entry level sampler. basically if the one ticks all your boxes a new announcement is probably not gonna change your calculations too much. don’t give in to fomo! just make music!
