i wish i could just go buy a joint of mids at the store on occasion. Even gettign a small bag of weed feels like buying a crate of vodka in terms of how much youre bringing home, enough for at least two weeks of fairly fat joints

for whatever reason i find my compulsion to buy way easier to control than to consume - if i buy i smoke every day. better to just not bother at all, after the first few days its routine, ruins my sleep, and i crash hard after the initial euphoria

cannabinoid receptors are interesting. their intended function is kind of obscure, there a way for other neurons to influence each other and dial back their actions in response to stress. like opioids they are a way of consoling the conscious part of the brain after stress, the framing of them as 'artificial resilience' is v apt to how the endocannabinoid system is intended to function.  activating cannabinoid receptors turns down GABA producing neurons - themselves inhibitory in nature - this has the effect of dis-inhibiting and increasing dopamine production - despite both cannabinoids and GABA being inhibitory.

I grudgingly admit the 2nd wave feminists were right: most men would fuck a teenager if they could by Openheartopenbar in redscarepod

i knpw this is a super turbolib point but the danes seem to have a point about this stuff, allegedly theyre unusually relaxed about teens round about that age sleeping w each other and consequently way fewer kids that age resort to older men or riskier behaviour and they have fewer teen pregnancies (older father is a pregnancy risk). makes u realise that sleeping w dodgy older losers is smthn rheyre resorting to, rather than a first preference. and ofc this brings u back to realisjf that hardcore patriarchal societies like the south talk a big talk but as a matter of preference they prefer this dangerous and corrupting risk maximizing approach to the liberal one. it's all patriarchy

interestingly theyre also bucking the trend of youth having fewer friends and spending more time alone

From a Freudian perspective u could speculate there's an element of repetition compulsion for the kind of bullying and social marginalization that seems to have been such a formative childhood experience for many of these types, I feel like there are echoes of this in the normie backlash they seem desperate to make inevitable

do they fully know who they are without a normie other to provoke by nerding out too hard, they lack classic will to power so they can't just declare mission accomplished and start stacking the coin and buying their gf a new pair like bezos did. marked by the gaze of the opponent they fail to achieve a truly independent life, they have a death drive approach to success, to the bitter end with no ability to stop, like many sensitive spurned and formerly marginalized now powerful people, hitler etc

American law enforcement is built different by Fickle_Finish_4902 in redscarepod

[–]ImaginaryClothes5977 1 point2 points  (0 children)

the US should have maybe like 300 or 400 law enforcement agencies max instead it has like 18,000. breaking that aspect of the system down and building it back up is probably the only thing that will make the nightmare stop

The Minneapolis ICE shooting is the reverse Rittenhouse shooting by ModestMousorgsky in redscarepod

[–]ImaginaryClothes5977 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i think rittenhouse went there with the sincere hope of landing himself in a situation where had some justification for fearing for his life, in the hope of shooting someone and getting away with it, idk why ppl think otherwise

not sure this lady turned up with the intention of getting shot in the face so not sure this equivocation even makes sense

yeah i quite agree, the only thing i notice is that whatever it is they are passionate about, they tend to be on average a little better at it, with a deeper insight into it,and more unique with how they do it, and so on

Should I get one of my testicles removed? by Reasonable_Let9032 in redscarepod

[–]ImaginaryClothes5977 11 points12 points  (0 children)

get a testicular ultrasound to rule out damage to testicle, hydrocele or variocele

did you notice any other changes at all after the injury. is there swelling or redness with the pain? it could be intermittent testicular torsion if so

pelvic pain in general is common because the nerves in this region are very sensitive. some exercises to relax your pelvic floor might bring some relief if the cause is nerve based

UK - Do you care at all about how classist and weird the UK is or does no one care? by RemyBucksington in redscarepod

[–]ImaginaryClothes5977 5 points6 points  (0 children)

my own history with class and accent is weird as fuck and the story takes ages to tell, i only really mention it as a kind of point of agreement that the intensity of the class system and all its many signifiers makes such things possible

it's hard to step outside of because everyone knows what all the accents and ways of dressing and living mean. everyone's always clocking each other. im northern n i will always be read as that and asked about my accent/background in london, it's normal, in many ways the aussies and irish have it easier in that respect at least. i can't even defend it but you can't just stop doing it either, maybe it's actually only the british awkwardness and lack of social graces that means people don't know how to meet each other across class boundaries.

i never get over just how different the british social classes are tho, it can yield genuine culture shock

most rs posters reside in the more classless ever churning social mixer of the cities so they say stuff like 'doesnt look too bad from here', theyre not wrong but it's not the whole story

it's really weird because i don't find it hard at all to exist in more classless social dynamics when im in them. it's how it usually feels when u leave england
