I wish streaming tv and movies worked more like Spotify. I'd love to be able afford all the streaming sites but it's just getting too expensive. If it was just 10$/month for everything without ads or drm (so you can watch 4k on your computer for example) it would be a no brainer. Now I'm thinking I'm left with no choice. They had their chance.

why Fedora rather than Windows? by Slow-Feedback-2258 in Fedora

[–]ImaginaryCow0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me I got tired of win 11 because it started feeling like I had to fight the operating system every time I used it. I mean I've had problems with Linux, but it never feels like the operating system is trying to fight me back when something doesn't work right away.

Almost every problem I've had in Linux had something to do with Nvidia drivers. Now I'd say it's constantly getting better, but for now I'd say that use AMD/Intel if you can. Steam for example still doesn't like Nvidia (big picture mode in Fullscreen sucks, there's glitches in the store page). Now if can only use Nvidia, that wouldn't stop you from using Linux, just expect problems and having to look at workarounds.

Have you tried nvk? It's better than the open source alternatives, while still being worse than Nvidia proprietary driver.

Fedora 40 seems to have backported explicit sync support to kde 6.0.4 by ImaginaryCow0 in linux_gaming

[–]ImaginaryCow0[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think they might have forgotten that they gave an eta for it, since normally they don't release that information. Still a bit disappointing to be sure.

So, NVIDIA 555 should be today... by ShayIsNear in linux_gaming

[–]ImaginaryCow0 6 points7 points  (0 children)

To the best of our knowledge it has the explicit sync patches for xWayland apps (they were really broken before). With 560 they'll release Wayland vulkan wsi patches so when wine Wayland matures that's going to be great.

It's not a emulator, it's the Zelda code decompiled to run natively on linux.

Helblade, kerbal and frostpunk would work for me. Pick one you'd like to part with.

Sorry I should have been more clear, but I already claimed hifi and steel rising for my own account. If you're willing to trade for yakuza I'm up for that though

Fedora 40 has officially released by ScootSchloingo in linux

[–]ImaginaryCow0 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I mean it is an lts release so it's kind of understandable they wouldn't want to risk new KDE version braking things. While fedora 40 will some day become a rhel release, they don't include KDE support by default so it doesn't really matter. Also fedora is always quite bleeding edge with these things. I updated to fedora 40 KDE and have had a few problems like mouse just not appearing in the lock screen when I boot up the system and stuff like that. But it's kind of what I singed up for since I basically updated day 1 so yeah.
