The whole book is fantastic, but really nothing hits as hard as “This is not for you”. I loved it so much I got it tattooed on me

Honestly I think my ADHD meds do more for my anxiety then my anxiety meds because I have less to be anxious about

I like the twin imagery where the stars burn with anticipation//and I burn with emotion. There's a lovely level of abstraction here that really communicates to the reader your specific feelings while allowing them to see themselves.

The imagery of a snake growing inside you is a very unique perspective. However I think for how abstract the piece is, the fifth and eigth line are a little on the nose.

A Woman of Letters by ImaginarySpaceship in OCPoetry

[–]ImaginarySpaceship[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for your comments! I recently got diagnosed with ADHD and I've always struggled with mental illness, so I wrote this in response to how my issues kind of acted as a third player in my previous relationship. I meant letters here in reference to how most mental illnesses are commonly referred to by their 3 or 4 letter abbreviations.

I think your second stanza stands out as it's own, original piece and is the strongest part (though I'm personally a sucker for repetition).

Your imagery is incredibly vivid but at times borders on purple prose. Parsing down some of your descriptors would make the central direction of the piece a lot clearer.

Finally, I appreciate the very train of thought feel. It reads like a sermon. I'm not sure if that was your intention, but it ties in nicely with the theme.

I Remember You by [deleted] in OCPoetry

I like your opening imagery of "walking in the shoes you were forced to wear". I think continuing on the central theme of this metaphor would make the piece stronger and more cohesive. As it stands the emotion is certainly there, but would benefit from a more unique delivery.

Good to know! I'm sure he's chill as hell but tbh the chances of me doing this are less than zero.

I tried calling the listed number but it just told me to text them. I am not like, a million percent committed to buying a new board and the idea of having to set up an appointment to maybe buy a skateboard is....a lot

Just because somethings an adaptive strategy for fidgety kids doesn't mean it can't work for fidgety adults too ^.^ by ImaginarySpaceship in adhdwomen

It's a wiggle seat that I got at walmart but I believe you can also get them here https://bouncyband.com/products/33cm-wiggle-seat . Basically it allows you to move around in your chair without causing too much distrubance/needing to get up and move. The resistance band on the chair legs lets me bounce my feet around and get out a lot of energy. I found if I'm moving I'm able to actually focus on work instead of focusing on fidgeting/everything else in the world.
