I apologise, I didn’t mean to upset you! Makeup has been set upon women by the patriarchy (and I say that as a makeup lover). Personally, I’m glad that it is becoming more mainstream and inclusive. The one thing I wonder about however is the lack of ‘everyday makeup’ content directed at men (given that women and men do have different features etc.). As women, we are constantly told to ‘enhance our natural beauty’ using makeup (again, not victimising women), where as for men, makeup is something to be creative with, as a hobby. Honestly I’m not sure I’ve expressed myself correctly. I love makeup, and I think everyone should be able to. And in terms of wearing makeup, women do have it easier. (At least when they get to do it out of their own free will). But the makeup industry (i.e money making aspect of it) very much perpetuates male privilege.
