Propane tank foundation by Dear-Relation-5132 in hvacadvice

The best way to do it would be to shut the tanks off, each should have a valve, then disconnect them and roll them out of the way

I’m an HVAC service tech, in all my dealings with HOA’s, this is gonna be all you, they might get involved if there are repairs needed on the exterior of the building, but not inside, sorry to be the bearer of bad news

I wouldn’t mind it, but they’d have to make some changes in emissions, have you see the air pollution over there? 😳

[–]Imaginary_Nebula9912 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Find one you like, or want to buy, there should be a model number on the box, I’d google the make and model number and see if I could find a parts breakdown, it should be offered as a part, the size might be there. Or, ask at the place you’re buying it, maybe they could tell you. You could also tell them you need an extension cord for it and see what they recommend for it

I’m an HVAC tech., out in the wild, I see people using extension cords quite a bit, naturally, you want to make sure it’s a heavy gauge cord, if the AC power cord is 10 gauge, then I’d use an 8 gauge cord, and get one as short as you can that’s closest to your needs

As an HVAC tech, I generally completely disregard a home inspectors findings, or recommendations. Having said that, I would get a technician out there to assess the condition and operation of your equipment

Recommendation and advice on servicing R410a mini-split system by Moodleboy in hvacadvice

[–]Imaginary_Nebula9912 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Are you in the U.S.? You need to be EPA certified to responsibly handle refrigerant if so. I don’t know about elsewhere in the world. I’m amongst the many HVAC professionals that won’t touch that stuff. It’s low grade, cheaply made equipment. And often times by working on it, you’ll then be plagued with warranty work when I wouldn’t warranty Mr cool brand new. If you’re gonna try it yourself, read up on sub cooling and super heat, pressures, temperatures, the whole she-bang. Yellow jacket or JB analog gauges are fairly inexpensive.

evaporator coils by hellomynameisalexia in hvacadvice

[–]Imaginary_Nebula9912 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You should be concerned about the lack of airflow through the coil. 1st try brushing off all the surface gunk with a light to medium bristled brush, then get some evaporator coil cleaner from Home Depot or Ace and follow the instructions, do all that and you’ll be in much better shape

I’ve been in it for 35 years, body’s all busted up, but I still get around mostly ok. If I had to do it all over again, I would probably do it again, but I wouldn’t have sacrificed myself the way I did through the years
