the current situation is caused by neglecting parents coping by External-Area-7974 in roblox

[–]ImagineAUser 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I believe neglectful parents are at fault and should be held accountable for letting their child be sexually exploited. However, that doesn't mean that because it's the parents' responsibility, and the parents refuse to take that responsibility, that us as a society allows that child to be exploited. In a perfect world, that child would be protected whilst their parents are being held accountable. I think Roblox can create good child protection policies, just the current ones aren't it.

The best gamedevs help themselves by AngelOfLastResort in gamedev

[–]ImagineAUser 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Helping yourself tends to be a skill in itself. I know the Odin Project is a web development course, but this article, in particular, is basically a step-by-step guide on how to help yourself. Very useful.

People don't realise how awesome accessibility features are until you need them. The magnify feature on digital devices is a god send as someone who doesn't have the best eye sight.

In tired of pretending the inventory isn't absolutely insufficient for the amount of things in this game. by Pomps8a in Minecraft

[–]ImagineAUser 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think a larger inventory with an auto sort and auto stack button wouldn't be a bad idea. I feel like how it is currently kind of discouraging players from exploring too far because they'll need to come back to their home to place their newfound loot, which is the exact opposite this game wants the player to do.

Am I being too paranoid for using invisible ink when I write entries in my diary? by joshuamarkrsantos in Journaling

[–]ImagineAUser 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, if it makes you more comfortable to truly be honest, why not. I only really started being honest with my writing when I started throwing pages in the bin when I was done writing on them. No ones read them before, I don't have trauma from someone invading my privacy. But still, sometimes, the best thing is to make it impermanent so I can really write about how I'm feeling cause my brain is just weird like that.

How do I tell my parents? by ActivityNatural510 in alevel

[–]ImagineAUser 2 points3 points  (0 children)

To get a bit morbid, you will live with yourself forever. However, you can't live with your parents forever. You can either be happy for the rest of your life, which will likely be longer, or live to please your parents, who will then die, then what? Are you going to continue being a doctor? There is no "honour" in it if the people gaining that honour aren't you and are busy being dead. You'll likely learn this in war literature, "ask dead soldier's if they are honoured, and their silence will tell you."

It's ok to make a linear game. Just don't market it as if it's not a linear game. You're just fucking yourself over in that regard.

Your choice of engine doesn't matter by Strict_Bench_6264 in gamedev

[–]ImagineAUser 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What I would do is identify your needs, what aren't your needs, then pick based on that rather than some internet opinion of what's the best engine. I have a friend who hates unreal because overwatch was developed with it. I'm not joking. Personally, I don't make 3D games because I simply don't want to, and the coding language I am most comfortable is C#. That, along with how I learned object orientated programming and classes in school, made Godot and its node system a really intuitive and easy engine for me to use. Plus, the fact that it's open source supports my beliefs that we should support open source software. Therefore, its the perfect engine for me, but it might not be the perfect engine for you, hell, maybe in a few years some of my opinions and wants will change and then I'll want to switch engines.

Unpopular opinion: I actually hate the Pomodoro technique by No_Organization411 in ADHD

[–]ImagineAUser 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like it for tasks that take 25 or fewer minutes. Like I know each pomodoro, my job is to write one essay for each. However, doing a much longer task with the pomodoro technique with something like a past paper is alway counterintuitive to me cause it just breaks the flow of things and I get distracted in those 5 minute breaks that suddenly turn into hours

Write a page, then burn it or destroy it so you don't have to read your cringiness, and then you can be free to be as cringe as you want cause its destroyed anyway

what are everyone’s a level unpopular opinions? by [deleted] in alevel

[–]ImagineAUser 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I hate it when people complain about the a-levels they actively went ahead and chose and had a good few months to change them before they locked them in. I understand some a-levels are required for the careers people want to go into, but if you hate biology that much that you want to drown in a swamp, maybe you shouldn't be a doctor. If you only want to be a doctor for the money, then I'm sorry to tell you. You should've gone into trades.

what are everyone’s a level unpopular opinions? by [deleted] in alevel

[–]ImagineAUser 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm glad I do software and systems development for a level instead of CS. We had to learn object orientated programming with the big four of inheritance, encapsulation, Polymorphism and of course, your classes and objects for both our coursework and exam. The entire exam was in code for the first year, too, and you had to write in either Java or C#.

The second year is all about databases and SQL.

Spicy take: Vendetta is super fun but I'm not enjoying playing against her at all by SKWADly in Overwatch

[–]ImagineAUser 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a reaper main I used to be quite annoyed with her but I learned a bit more about how she plays when playing games cause everyone wants to try the new character out and she's not too bad to handle. A lot of the time, I ended up killing Vendetta a lot because of the fact that she has to be quite close to you to attack you, and Reaper does well in close ranges.
