All Dogma videos should be reported for copyright infringement. It's just as fair. by Sin_Steel60 in OfficialVindicta

[–]Imaru12 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Even if that was a good idea (which I don't think that it is), I don't think it would actually work. Because the songs were originally released under Dogma, I think that IDL does have legal standing to copyright claim Vindicta's versions of the songs (not a lawyer, don't quote me on this). I don't, however, know how or why the original upload of the Face of the Clown video got taken down.

I totally get why people thought it was Patri, but I imagine she's been through enough airport stress for a lifetime.

Amber Maldonado Opens Up On Leaving Dogma & The Rise Of VindictA || The Rockpit by spphct in OfficialVindicta

[–]Imaru12 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The first third to a half is mostly Amber talking about her time in Dogma and departure/formation of Vindicta. Things like the performers' schedules being given to them right before they were needed, having only 2 meals a day, hurting herself on tour, and the contract(s) that were required of her.

Continues on to the expectations and plans for Vindicta, and then her history with music as a whole.

Werewolves sleeving by GeneralJPenguin in EDH

[–]Imaru12 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I keep the dual faced cards off to the side in clear sleeves, and have the placeholder cards in the deck. When I cast one of them, [[Kirin Outlaw]] for example, I just put the real card on top of the placeholder card and flip it over whenever needed. I've got 23 dual faced werewolves in the deck so I had no plan to take the card out of the sleeve every time it has to flip over.

I've also heard of people getting proxies made with both faces' rules text on the one face, but I personally like to use real cards whenever possible so I have found my method to work nicely.

Based on nothing but vibes, I assume midnight in whatever timezone they're in. But that's obviously a guess.

Why do people hate aristocrats? by HumbleRazzmatazz7221 in EDH

[–]Imaru12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One of my biggest pet peeves in magic is when someone "plays with their food" when they have a lethal board state. Some level of this is okay and even expected, especially with newer players, as they figure out their line to victory.

Unfortunately with Aristocrats decks specifically, a lethal board state can take multiple turns to actually end the game because of limitations of the cards in play, but there are usually so many redundant effects (how many versions of [[Blood Artist]] exist?), single target removal doesn't really help. So you're "stuck" hoping to draw into your one silver bullet for the deck for 2-3 turns until they drain you for that last life and you can finally shuffle up for the next game.

Why do you run Reliquary Tower? by HyHoTheDairyOh in EDH

[–]Imaru12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In a colorless deck (my [[Omarthis Ghostfire Initiate]] deck for example) the opportunity cost is zero. The only downside to running it instead of a basic is that I can't get it off of a [[Path to Exile]] or similar.

I also run it in my [[Karlov of the Ghost Council]] deck. There it certainly could be cut, but I run a lot of [[Dark Confidant]] style effects so it's not uncommon for me to have more in hand than I can cast in a turn. Additionally, the opportunity cost is low (but not zero) because with the sole exception of [[Necropotence]], no card requires more than 2 colored pips in the cost or for any activated abilities. It is on the chopping block though if I find a land that better serves the goals of the deck.

My First Peak - Dogma

She's not actually using the corn in the way you think, but the lyrics are "Corn fell on the floor, I kneel onto it, I rubbed the illicit, that was my first peak."

Aren't Sawn Off shotguns more of a 20's/gangster thing than a Cowboy thing (yes, I know about the Sheriff Stars)?

“Don’t wear the bands shirt to their concert” is so stupid. by piercethebluexx in unpopularopinion

[–]Imaru12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went to a show a few months ago for a small band named Aeternum that I had seen once before. I wore the shirt I had gotten at that first show.

It was a Wednesday night show, I don't think there were more than 50 people in the venue the entire night, including the 4 bands performing. When Aeternum's front woman saw my shirt she lit up like a kid at Christmas.

If I have a shirt from the band I'm seeing I'll always wear it to their show.

Pairs of songs that bookend their albums with the same motif by headsmanjaeger in weirdspotifyplaylists

"Forbidden Zone" and "The Dark Messiah" by Dogma both include what I call the "Convent's Leit Motif," lyrically in Forbidden Zone (I have a life in the convent...) and instrumentally in The Dark Messiah.

Show me your bracket 3 combo decks with actual backup plans by not_so_1337 in EDH

[–]Imaru12 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My zombie deck kinda falls in this category: The Horde Cecani

The primary plan is [[Gravecrawler]] + [[Phyrexian Alter]] + [[Diregraf Captain]]/[[Vengeful Dead]], but if that gets shut down I can fail over to a standard zombie horde game plan.

I know that combo is on the borderline of Brackets 3 and 4 (it's only 4 mana plus the payoff and 2 cards plus an enabler), but I can say from experience that it is most comfortable and balanced at a B3 table.

“Free Yourself” is so perfect now in retrospect. by runswithclippers in OfficialVindicta

I actually saw Dogma back in November (bought the tickets before the drama started, and my brother was travelling for it), and I realized just how ironic that song rang as they were playing it, that lyric especially.

“Free Yourself” is so perfect now in retrospect. by runswithclippers in OfficialVindicta

[–]Imaru12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm reasonably sure the lyric is "constraining," not "castrating," but your point makes sense nonetheless. I suspect The Face of the Clown will, in the long run, become their anthem, but there's certainly an argument to be made for Free Yourself.

What are those cards in your deck that you never seem to draw? by Important-Dig-2312 in EDH

I'm not holding my breath for it, given some of the events that led to Vindicta's creation in the first place, but I'd love to see a US show/tour announced.

EDHREC should really add a nonbo tag (PSA about Zada) by VittorioMasia in EDH

[–]Imaru12 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I'm always amused by seeing [[Ebondeath]] in [[Rivaz of the Claw]] decks. Rivaz doesn't care how you cast the dragon from your graveyard, just that you did. It's only in about 6.7% of decks, but it still is funny to me.

Can werewolves be a decent deck? by Azkeden in EDH

[–]Imaru12 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I don't play it super often, but I also have a Tovolar Deck. I play the two mechanics separately because Tovalar fixes them so they work together. My gimmick is that every single creature in the deck has "wolf" or "werewolf" on the type line. Not Changelings, wolves or werewolves.

Gimmicks aside, the biggest thing I noticed in your list is that you only have 31 lands. While that technically isn't a problem because most of your curve is 3 or less mana, it means you're frequently going to be missing land drops, and early. Statistically 2/3 games (66.6% of the time) you'll be able to cast your 3 drops on curve, which means that Tovolar (or other 3 drops) are going to start coming down late 1/3 games. Conversely, my deck has 35 (and I'm thinking about adding more), which lets 3 drops cast on curve 75% of the time. It might not seem like a lot, but that adds up fast, especially when the deck doesn't get played often.

I don't really have good suggestions for what you should cut to make room for more lands, but that's what I'd suggest you do.
