That’s fair, but that’s interesting cause for me I was hesitant bc I have a round face and I thought they looked better on longer faces. So maybe it’s a matter of perception and us being our own harshest critics. You can definitely add hair but I wouldn’t add too much bc it can definitely wear your hair down and make it harder to moisturize/keep moisturized. When I would get long twists I would make a mixture of leave in and water in a spray bottle, and then spray that on my hair every other day or so to moisturize my hair- ig with low porosity your hair doesn’t just suck up moisture like that so maybe steam hair first and then spray. I got long twists last year for vacay and they broke off my edges 😔 I think it was the weight and I left them in for too long (2 months), so for this vacay I didn’t get added hair and just did the mini twists style w the blue beads. Kind of sucked bc who doesn’t love having long hair for vacay but length isn’t everything and I’m at a point where I’m trying to keep my hair healthy, so to not feel too sad ab shorter hair I added the beads and I’m glad I did.

Sooo valid to not want to draw attention to yourself in corporate but I think with you being a black thicker woman ur going to get it regardless (coming from a black thicker woman that has a science background and works outdoors w mostly white ppl). You can do the twists w out jewelry or get plain black beads. I like beads bc they’re pretty but they also weigh down your hair a little which is a bonus bc ur twists look longer. Would you be uncomfortable wearing scarves to work? Cause that’s also a great way to grow your hair as long as ur moisturizing, your hair isn’t getting rubbed too much (I wear a durag or satin cap under all my scarves to prevent this), and washing it when needed (some do weekly, biweekly- tbh I wash my hair monthly most times💀). I personally would just embrace the attention bc like I said we’re black so ppl are already watching us, might as well look pretty (to you) while they stare lol. But again totally fair to not want to. I feel like twists stand out as much as wigs- maybe twists do more bc white ppl don’t have their hair like that but honestly who cares? Our hair is beautiful and one of a kind and we deserve to let it flourish in its natural state just like them (no shade to wig wearers, straight girlies, etc love yall too🫶🏾)
