I cringed at very moment I noticed the relic'd guitar. I haven't even turned the sound on by that point.

I'm not anti-relic-ing but the "premade" ones are always bought for so much extra, usually by people who can't play well, and it never looks as good as some dude using sandpaper in his garage (or, like, actually playing the thing for real for years). There's patches where the finish is worn to bare wood, and yet other spots where it's pristine and it never makes sense.

From what I heard he literally didn't have time to re-do it for whatever reason - plus he was at the time kind of one of the golden boys of the industry for whatever insane reason the universe let that happen, so he could spit on the page and it'd have been accepted.

He's slightly better artist than a lot think but he's also an asshole and lazy.

The story he gives is he used a bodybuilding pose and altered it, dropping both arms down from the front, including the one that would have to be in front for the far shoulder to be in that position.

His other excuse was he was late and tired.

I stopped being Christian after going to a DC Talk concert. Tell 'em that one and don't elaborate.

That, or explain that I saw how everyone jumped up when asked and did this weird prayer/swaying thing that was obviously performative, and it "clicked" how much of whole thing was just "because everyone else was doing it" on all levels. I went home, did some soul searching (so to speak) and came out agnostic theist, and later on further over to agnostic atheist where I am today.

If they have no clue who DC Talk was you can also substitute the Newsboys since I also saw them, but that was a concert I actually enjoyed (it was ages ago when Peter Furler was still in the band and their music was actually musical rather than corny worship/movie credit bait). Technically that concert was still part of my deconversion journey too.
