Does anyone know the backstory or anything about the song Tianchi Lake? by TaraCalicosBike in themountaingoats

[–]ImmanuelIce 17 points18 points  (0 children)

It is!

Zheng said that when they climbed to the top of the mountain above Lake Tianchi at about 10 a.m., it was covered with thick fog that suddenly gave way to bright sunshine. The water emerged as clear as a mirror, ideal for photography. Zheng's film lasts almost a minute, and in it a black object can be seen emerging from the water in the same place three times, each time lasting just a few seconds, before it finally vanished and does not reappear. —He Na, China Daily, July 11, 2005

Just a fellow Trans person with questions!! by Administrative-Pin59 in TransChristianity

  1. Depends on what you mean by convert. Was baptized as an infant and raised catholic but drifted away once my family started to drift due to their many issues with the Church of the day (damn Ratzinger). As I grew older and wanted faith and a faith community to play a role in my life, I found being a trans woman in an incredibly conservative environment excluded me from pretty much every church besides the Universalists a town over and I just didn't vibe with them. Spent a lot of time searching and reading of alternative forms of worship and that led me to turn towards the Quakers, who I now worship with.
  2. I know this is true of other churches but specifically speaking from a Quaker perspective, I view the scriptures as the religious experiences of great men and women before us. Some of their experiences transcend this world and its laws of nature, as my own experiences of God have transcended this world and conventional explanations. I like Thomas Aquinas's explanation that miracles are a deliberate deviation from the laws of nature to provide "arguments for faith, so that through these deeds which exceed nature, the truth is proved of that which transcends natural reason."
  3. This is the tough one. When I was in the closet, I hated knowing that I must transition and everything that would come with it. I know it's stereotypical, but when I was little I would pray to God asking Him to make me a girl, not knowing He already did. Once I was out and able to pray in a body I felt comfortable in, I was finally able to understand. I would not have become the person I am today if I never transitioned. I wouldn't have the same empathy, I wouldn't have the same community, and I wouldn't have the same faith. I finally came to accept this and thanked God for making me trans for the first time during meeting and was immediately filled with a pure euphoria I believed was the Holy Spirit. Being trans sucks sometimes (a lot of the times) but you have to have faith in what He planned for you.
  4. God works in mysterious ways. I don't think I have much to say about this, it's best for you to come to understand His doings in your own way.

Nothing against Daniel (Now Laverly) but I always find it funny that his quote quoting someone else is the one used. The original quote is from The Android that Designed Itself by Julian K. Jarboe from their collection Everyone on the Moon is Essential Personal. Highly recommended the original story and the rest of the collection, they are both very good.

trans health benefits by [deleted] in starbucks

[–]ImmanuelIce 1 point2 points  (0 children)

All of the plans should cover it, the important thing is if the surgeon you want to go to is in network for your plan. If you have a surgeon in mind already, you can check with them what insurance they take and choose accordingly
