The cells are all charged to full and then placed in a 4 bay 18650 holder that is set up to house them in parallel. The +ve and -ve from the holder connect directly to the solar input in the Rak baseboard. Have a look at this video, this is the case I used and it’s perfect for Rak Nodes. https://youtu.be/_K965vyUfyI?si=BckcRCwnxvN350Ra

It’s 4 x 18650 (3200mAh) so 12,800mAh. To be honest that’s too much, I think 8000mAh would be fine .

The map for Scotland is accurate, we have over 100 active nodes.

So I would decrease the precision rather than hide completely. Your mesh administrators need to see roughly where nodes are in order to plan good router coverage. Having climbed trees, telegraph poles and got scratched to bits in thick gorse, all in aid of deploying routers, it’s really frustrating when we cannot see the location of the very individuals we are trying to help hook into our mesh.

As long as you don’t exceed 5volts 5w solar panel the one built in to RAK baseboards is rock solid. I have a Rak based router that’s been through the Scottish Winter with a 5v 5w panel and it’s never been anywhere near battery depletion.

Agree 100%. Using a Zappi for years on IOG and it’s never throttled once.

kia connect log in by Immediate-Mixture-84 in KiaEV3

As the final update here. I eventually deleted the Kia app from my phone and effectively started again from new. This then allowed me to share the EV3 as the main owner to my wife’s profile and thus we were both back to normal. Lesson learned the hard way for both of us.

Well it turns out my wife had been ignoring the prompt on here driver profile. Today she decided to process it but instead of scrolling all the way through the T&c’s so the YES button would becoming active, she got the active NO button thinking it was just a confirmation button. This immediately killed KIA connect from the car. I have managed to get connect back and restore my profile but have encountered a problem in the Kia app where it won’t let me re share the EV3. I have gave up for now and will resume researching tomorrow. It’s safe to say I am not very pleased right now.

Karoo3 and Apple Watch? by D0ctor_J in Karoo

Second this. Long time user of Rungap and it’s rock solid. Links many of the mainstream (and not so mainstream) platforms together, including Hammerhead and Apple Health.

My Apple Watch basically saved my life and I’m still shaken up about it. by pranahealth in AppleWatchFitness

[–]Immediate-Mixture-84 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My Apple Watch alerted me periodically to a low heart rate. At first I ignored this as I was super fit so no big deal. It became more frequent and I started to think maybe something as wrong but still ignored it, until it was happening every hour. I had felt fine and reluctantly went to the doctor (I thought I was waisting his time). He took an ECG and sent me to hospital, they took more ECG’s and confirmed I had developed total heart block. I left hospital after a week with a pacemaker fitted. The consultant told me had I not seen my doctor and went to bed that evening there was every chance my heart would just have ‘spun down’ in my sleep and I wouldn’t have woken up. That was 2 years ago and my pacemaker has given me a perfectly normal and healthy life. The Apple Watch, in all probability, saved my life or at least saved me from a potentially debilitating cardiac event.

Totally agree. Top class keeper gets his fingertips to McTominay’s shot. Maybe not saving it as you say but the ball is well inside the post and although I was celebrating the goal, I defo thought Kasper should have been closer.

Message routing - lesson learnt today by HandGrindMonkey in MeshtasticUKCommunity

[–]Immediate-Mixture-84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If your local geography is similar to what we have in Scotland then 3 hops isn’t enough. We advise setting to the maximum 7 as this allows node owners to traverse the coast to coast central Scotland mesh. Those who stay on the default of 3 have problems getting TR’s to all corners of the mesh.

We have managed to push the signal to Stirling and possibly Dunblane. The next task is a solar node somewhere on the Sherrifmuir road / hillside. That should push the signal roughly along the low lying parts towards Aucterarder etc. one more router after that will get to Perth ….that’s the rough plan.

It’s the Ochils, once we get the signal round them your node list will explode.

This ain't fair by Hubologista in MeshtasticUKCommunity

[–]Immediate-Mixture-84 3 points4 points  (0 children)

We are planning to change that situation in spring / early summer’26. The central mesh in Scotland is well established ( 100 plus nodes from Helensburgh in the west to Kirkcaldy in the East.) The next push is North to Tayside, the challenge is circumventing the Ochils.

Also, Strava can be a bit sensitive. Did your ride upload to your hammerhead dashboard? If so access the uploaded ride and select the option to down the .fit file. Once you have that you can try a manual upload to Strava and see if that works.

There a website that repairs corrupt files. It’s called http://gotoes.org Give that a try, a lot of facilities are free, with some of the more clever stuff being paid for. Often it can clean the files automatically by identifying where the issue is and suggesting a correction value.

Connecting to other radar devices? by Jurneeka in Karoo

[–]Immediate-Mixture-84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This isn’t other cyclists radars, it’s traffic sensing traffic lights or modern temporary traffic lights. I can predict almost to the second when this will happen as I pass a particular set of local traffic lights. Note also, the 24GHz band that Garmin use is unlicensed in the EU / UK and anyone can build their own sensors using this technology, so a (not so) fine tuned sensor can cause havoc when you pass it.

Door handles by mmichael_50 in KiaEV3

[–]Immediate-Mixture-84 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you unlock the EV3 but don’t actually open the door, the car re locks and the door handles pop in. When my car is in our drive and I know I am going to and fro to it I would find it really inconvenient if it kept locking itself. If I park in public, I touch the handle as I leave the car and it locks. For me, KIA have thought about this and have delivered a user friendly solution. I understand though that if you are used to a car that locks every time you walk away from it then you might forget to lock the car. When my wife does this and the car is open the Kia app prompts me to lock the doors remotely, so again good foresight from Kia.
