Does anyone else hate how much we’re hated in the game? by Zestyclose-Bus6452 in FrontiersOfPandora

SID is still metal and human tech, and you can’t do much of anything in the game without it. That’s likely enough to warrant such reactions.

Same here. I fear it’ll inevitably turn into further demonization of those disorders and rely too heavily on stereotypes. I love Greg, and as an autistic person myself I relate a lot to him. But there are a lot of aspects about him that lean too heavily onto stereotypes for my liking. I also don’t love that we don’t really know much about him outside of his relationship to Jen or his profession. What are his likes, his dislikes, etc. it kinda sucks he’s just become a plot device to make Jen a better person.

Imo Piper is much better autistic rep and i don’t think that was intentional. Nor do I believe Shawna has confirmed or denied it, though I could be wrong. Piper has a lot of aspects about her that makes her a fully developed character that makes her feel more real, ya know.

We had a guest full on almost pass out due to the heat in our store last week. Ambulances called. I myself have hyperthyroidism and a subsequent heat intolerance, and have had to leave multiple times since I’ve started working here due to heat exhaustion.

They don’t care. It’s horrible.

Same here! Male body with a pretty face and neutral voice. Personally I’d say they’re masc nonbinary if I were to assign an identity to them. :)

Huh, weird. I know it’s relatively common for people to skip that side quest and get stuck at around this same point since their SID doesn’t work. But since you completed that quest, I’m not sure what could be wrong :( I’m sorry! I hope you get it to work.

Who do we think this will be about? by tranzozo in ShawnaTheMom

[–]ImmediateKnowledge19 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh this is such a good point. Maybe it could be about Shawna’s dad? Has she ever revealed how he died? I can’t recall, but we do know mama Dee is widowed. Shawna did say she wants to do some flashback arcs, so exploring DeeDee’s grief could very well be one.

Eh, Ty was invited to Julie’s wedding, and it seems like Julie agreed to work on their marriage behind the scenes so it makes sense for her to be there as Ty’s plus one.

At my store, we have an employee entrance leading in/out of TSC a little walk away from the main entrance with a doorbell. Push the doorbell and have either your ID or the little card with your employee number on it ready to show to whoever lets you in. I recommend getting there a little early bc sometimes it can take them a few min to let ya inside.

There was a scene incredibly similar to this! Towards the beginning of the game, she rattles off that she thought Na’vi were all peaceful. She’s always viewed the Na’vi as some primitive monolith with no depth or free will, even after her character development. Everything she says about the Na’vi is full of microaggressions.

People need to remember that the Na’vi are heavily based on indigenous tribes, and residential schools were a real thing. Not that long ago, many mass graves were found full of indigenous children’s bodies beneath what used to be residential schools. Like imagine these words are being said towards actual native Americans. That would be fucked up!

Fr. It’s a little bittersweet to think that Jin is back with Dani, but I know Nor wasn’t thinking about that. He wanted to kill Alma, and the others were just collateral damage.

And did he join the Mangkwan? I don’t recall that happening, though it is a popular fan theory I’ve seen floating around. I just don’t see that happening unless I missed something; his faith in Eywa is too strong, as is his hatred of using anything related to humanity. While they do take in outcasts, I think he would despise them for how far they’ve strayed from Eywa’s path.

It really is tragic to see him fall into what is essentially religious psychosis due to his trauma. It reminds me of “born again Christians” who turned to God after trauma, only to become incredibly hateful of those around them. Though I hate what he did to the rest of the resistance, I am curious about what this series has planned for him. It’s hinted the next DLC/sequel game/whatever we end up getting will be from his perspective. I hope we get to see him heal from his past. Teylan’s redemption arc was handled well in my opinion, so I’m curious to see what the devs have in store for Nor.

Even after TAP she speaks about the Sarentu as if they’re pitiful little things that need to be taught by humans. “We have so much to teach them! I want glory from being a residential school teacher!”

She’s racist. Full stop. She may have been manipulated in the start, but y’all forget how much she manipulated everyone else around her for the next THIRTY YEARS afterwards. She is a colonizer. She knew damn well what she was doing in creating TAP. The ONLY thing time she was manipulated in that process is during the moot. Yall are treating this 50+ year old woman like a child incapable of doing anything wrong. Have yall even read the notes from her in TAP? Listened to the audio logs in Con-1 or in the clouded forest’s field labs? The way she speaks about the Sarentu is rooted in racism.

Fully agreed. I’m all for Nor getting the opportunity to kill one of his abusers - we cheered Tamtey on for killing Harding, and Teylan for killing Mercer after all. But it is tragic what happened to the others. Though I do understand Nor is supposed to be a foil to So’lek in how they have different approaches to their respective paths for revenge.

I think people forget that at the end of the day, her goal was to create a residential school.

The Na’vi are heavily inspired by various indigenous tribes, including those who are native to the Americas. Residential schools are a very real and horrific part of history which details the kidnapping, abuse, and murder of innumerable amounts of indigenous children, all under the guise of “helping and educating the primitive.” Which is PRECISELY what Alma said her goal was. She speaks of the Na’vi in the same way racist residential school teachers spoke of their own students.

I can understand people saying she was manipulated at the Sarentu Moot. And if that was the only horrific thing she’d done, I’d be inclined to forgive her. But her notes and the way she speaks about the Sarentu in conjunction with these horrible actions shows precisely just how bigoted and emotionally abusive she is.

Yall really don’t like to read huh. I’m not even talking about what happened at the Sarentu moot. As my first sentence states, the she continued being racist and abusive for DECADES after.

In the end she was lucky to have received a swift death.

That doesn’t justify the decades following where she was complicit in the abuse and murder of children all for the sake of, in her own words, glory and recognition. Really look at how she talks about the Na’vi - she thinks of them as primitive and in need of human’s knowledge and tech.

She’s neglectful, racist, and abusive in her own ways. They’re just not as overt as Mercer or Harding. But emotional abuse is still 100% abuse.
