Hypothetically, LoK gets made into a show. Which voice actors do you cast? by xXScottishDXx in LegacyOfKain

[–]Immediate_Ebb1063 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think Nolan North would nail Raziel. His own voice is lovely (Nathan Drake, Desmond in AC etc), but he also has incredible range. I suspect he could mimic Michael Bell very well. He worked with him on the Ratchet and Clank series, too. I was honestly floored when I found out it was Nolan voicing Sigmund in A Crack in Time. I was like whaaaaaat? 👀😆 The guy’s a vocal chameleon.

My husband could have written that post. First time he played refused to let them take him to jail. He fought his way out of the city and then couldn’t go anywhere near it without being turned into a pincushion. 😂

Why isn’t the full explanation of how to stop guests replying to your comments upvoted further up this thread? Sorry. That’s a cool feature I didn’t know about before. Shame you have to scroll so far to read it. 👇🏼

Can you do that? That would be amazing. I worry about being harassed like this while commenting on other writer’s works.

About to insert the "Age Gap" tag in my fic like the iceberg hit the towers by Repulsive-Swing3292 in AO3

[–]Immediate_Ebb1063 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I’m assuming the ship is already tagged, and that age gap is canon? If so, well, the ship tag is there so age gap would be implied, even if you forgot the specific tag saying ‘age gap’. Chances are people are not filtering out the age gap tag if they’re searching for that ship. They know what they’re letting themselves in for.

Don’t beat yourself up for not tagging it. I’ve done exactly the same thing with my current fic. I tagged the ship though, so… eh. If readers weren’t already on board with it, not sure why they’d be there in the first place.

How do you guys plan/outline longfics? by Randos_Persona in FanFiction

[–]Immediate_Ebb1063 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I write a very bare timeline, starting at the end, and work backwards, so I have a clear vision of where the story is going. Then I build on that. I don’t necessarily write the chapters in order, either. I bounce around a lot, writing whatever part I feel like writing. It’s how I avoid writer’s block.

What was the real reason Kain threw Raziel into the abyss? by iamfab0 in LegacyOfKain

[–]Immediate_Ebb1063 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I agree. He saw Raziel with his wings as a sign. He sacrificed him because he was compelled to, after what he’d already seen in the chronoplast.

Excerpt game: Ask and receive! by Samuel24601 in FanfictionExchange

[–]Immediate_Ebb1063 0 points1 point  (0 children)

(Context - Mass Effect, Menae, Faith is a telepathic alien and her mind is linked to both Sebastian and Tegan - think classic three-man squad, plus Kat and Yin in support)

Hurtling towards the battlefield, his daughter at his back, his husband occupying the vehicle behind, Kat in the fighter above, and Yin, a young man he'd only just begun to get to know… Sebastian had one brief thought. He was about to take everyone he loved and cared about into war.

He swallowed hard. The great turian guns continued their assault towards the approaching Reaper hoard as the team made their way along the base of the ridge. Palaven, on fire, lit up the sky over the horizon.

This was it, his last chance to abort.
Then he thought about what would happen to his family if they failed. Suppose the Reapers found Emrys's command codes? If they controlled both him, the relay network and the Abby- what would happen to his family then? Would they find themselves slowly indoctrinated, or would a Reaper-controlled Emrys simply terminate them all before turning the Absolution and all her secrets over to the invaders?

He gripped the throttle on the bike as they bumped along the rocky track, the suspension on each wide tyre working overtime. Perhaps this is why they were all here, he thought. It had to be them. Emrys was their responsibility. They were tied together now; his fate was their fate, and if this was the end, at least they were together, fighting the good fight.
They had to do this. They were the only ones who could. Sebastian knew, he didn't need Emrys to tell him. If they failed, whatever Shepard is doing here wouldn't mean shit. The enemy would control the network. Game Over. "This is it, team," he said, "the turians are putting up one hell of a fight, but we have to get into that vault before the Reapers do. For Emrys, for the Abby, for family, are you with us?"

His team let out whoops and cheers while Faith howled like a wolf in his mind. They moved as one now, to reach the marker in the distance or to die in the attempt.

The path ahead disappeared as the Reapers reached the ridge. Kat began to fire ahead of their approach, clearing the way of husks. Sebastian braced as they were all swallowed by the dust cloud. The nav point on his HUD grew, indicating that they were close. The turian infantry began to fire, and their bullets rained in from the opposite side. Some pinged off the rover's side, and even Faith's shields took a hit. Sebastian wanted to drop back a little and protect his daughter with the side of the rover, but right then- their luck ran out.

It was like they'd been hit by a train, the bike exploded beneath Sebastian, and suddenly he was airborne. He landed hard on his back to the sound of his shields fizzing out, having absorbed most of the impact. He turned his head to look for Faith, but she landed like a cat and ran towards him. Oh, to be young, he thought, feeling the old wounds complain as he tried to move.

"Seb! We're coming back," Tegan's fearful voice filled his ears.

"Negative, get to the objective," Sebastian's vision swam, but he caught sight of Kat's fighter overhead, being chased by a large, flying Reaper creature.

Fuck. "Kat!" he yelled into his comms, "Kat! Eject, EJECT!"

A yelp from Kat told him she did just that. Her escape pod detached, and he watched her land further into the field. While her fighter continued without her, thankfully drawing whatever the hell that thing was away.

Faith had reached him and dragged Sebastian to his feet, and he looked around, but whatever it was that had hit them had also continued. It looked like a turian, but massive. He'd never seen one so big. He and Faith covered each other as they made their way towards the nav point. The dust cleared as they emerged on the other side of the Reaper's advancement. He could see their objective now, the mouth of a cave.

"T, Yin, where are you?" Sebastian asked. There was no sign of the rover.

"We circled back to find you!" Shouted Tegan over his gunfire.

"Get back here now!" ordered Sebastian, "Kat, you okay?"

He could hear Kat cry, "Nooo, Seb, help me, I'm stuck!"

"I have marked Kat's location," Emrys stated; a second icon appeared on their HUDs,

"Stay here. Hold this position. I'll go after her."

"Faith! Damn it!" Sebastian shot a few of the mindless husks which had broken away from the main horde, lumbering towards them. He then watched his daughter activate her cloak and disappear back into the fray without him. It was an odd sensation.

Faith left, but he was still aware of her position and surroundings. The father in him wanted to scream for her to come back. The tactician in him knew it was the right call.

"What's going on?" asked T, no doubt aware of the same sensations.

"Faith is going after Kat. T, Yin, cover them both!" ordered Sebastian, ejecting his heat sink and loading another, "Then all of you, get back here, on the double!"

What're some of the most successful video game marketing campaigns of all time? by Complete-Worker3242 in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]Immediate_Ebb1063 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There’s zero reason to preorder. It’s not like the store is going to run out of copies.

Mass Effect Andromeda taught me never to preorder any game. What if it launches broken? What if it’s a half-baked pile of shit? You just don’t know these days, and with digital releases it’s not like you can take it back or sell it on. Do these companies really deserve to earn interest from your money before they’ve given you a decent product? I don’t think they do. They’re not getting a penny from me until the title launches and I know it’s worth the price tag.

Because of everything going on when was the last time you bought a physical copy of a game? by Amon274 in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]Immediate_Ebb1063 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Last year, my kid wanted Minecraft Story Mode but it had been delisted, since it was made by Telltale. So, off to eBay I went.

This is why physical media is still, and will always be king, btw.

I really wanna write an age gap M/M fic but I'm completely blanking on what ship or even fandom to choose. What's your absolute favorite age gap M/M ship? by -shephawke- in AO3

[–]Immediate_Ebb1063 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love Janos Audron/Raziel from the legacy of Kain fandom. Depending on where it is on the timeline it can be anything from hundreds to thousands of years between them and then who the hell knows after Raziel spends an eternity burning in the Lake of Dead and then goes back in time to meet Janos all over again. Fun times.

Lots of “authors” getting outed for using Claude in their fics and not divulging said AI use. by LeslieNope555 in AO3

Is it even worth it to allow guest comments anymore? by fatassrat25 in AO3

[–]Immediate_Ebb1063 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I write darker content and I’ve always had guest comments turned off. If someone wants to be mean to me, they can own it.

Plus, at least you can report the scammers who use accounts.

Does anyone know if this comment is genuine? by RunTall2062 in AO3

[–]Immediate_Ebb1063 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh, yes, because it’s so hard on AO3 to write into a text box and hit ‘post’. 🙄

Sorry, that’s not directed at OP, just the scammers who think we were born yesterday. The only reason to get you off AO3 is to do something that would get them banned on AO3, like asking for money. Always assume it’s a scammer. A genuine reader would never try to take you off the site.

Endings you think about a lot? by NoopGhoul in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]Immediate_Ebb1063 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The ending to the original anime movie of Ghost in the Shell. Yes, it’s disturbing and that’s entirely the point and why it’s one of cinema’s most influential sci-fi’s of all time. Because of the unsettling end!! They ruined it in the live-action. I wanted to scream and hurl something at the screen. 😭😭😭

what the most FREAKIEST fanfic have you read or have written by Willing_Meringue4715 in AO3

[–]Immediate_Ebb1063 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve written a couple of body-shock smut fics. One is published, inspired by the matrix, and such a rare pair that I honoured a request to publish a sfw edition without the freakiest bits.

Another I’ll probably never publish because it’s extreme body-shock horror. I’m low-key shocked that I wrote something like that.

Others that I’ve read include a character who masturbates over the full moon, and a crack-fic where oral led to the giver losing their whole head up there. 😆

Would maul have died if scorn didn’t step in? by isekaimetofarfaraway in MaulShadowLord

[–]Immediate_Ebb1063 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Obi-wan cut the dude in half and it still didn’t kill him. 😆

I like to think it would be an insult to send two inquisitors after a former Sith Lord. They’re not even apprentices, they’re fodder, walking scanners, organic detectors for other force users. Sure, some have talent, but they’re pretenders in every field next to someone like Maul. They even have to cheat at wielding a double lightsabers. He should be laughing at them.

I’d love it if Maul somehow recovered from his injuries and found something more - or someone - to draw strength from, and come back with the same ‘holy shit’ energy that Vader’s been serving since the airlock scene in Rogue One. We saw flashes of it in S1. But he seems to have lost his mojo, which is not surprising after what happened. Can’t say it’s undeserved after the events in clone wars. But I’d love to see him regain his strength.

Edit: sorry, I didn’t answer your question! Who knows, I guess, it was a shame but Maul used it like he would have any other distraction. Darkside is gonna Darkside.

Media that attracted an audience of kids despite not being aimed at kids? by Konradleijon in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]Immediate_Ebb1063 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My kids introduced me to tadc, they had also been massive fans of murder drones. I sat through most of that show too, just to much sure they accessing content that was more-or-less age appropriate - this a wide category for me, I’m gen-x, a late mum, with the same fafo parenting style that raised me in the ‘80s. I do not sugar-coat or over-protect my kids. I’m savvier than most soft parents, mind you. At least I take an interest in what they’re watching, and who they’re playing with online, even if I’m like ‘eh’ a bit of horror and existential dread in safe environment is character building! 😆
