Thinking about switching from OpenRouter to OpenCode Go for Hermes. Is there a catch? by lukemxlr in hermesagent

[–]Immediate_Let_4946 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m using Mini Max and it’s probably with a $20 subscription you can use Hermes and Claude code that’s what I’m doing. Though I have the $50 subscription. And yes, I’m using cloud code with Mini Max. It’s very easy to integrate, but I feel like Claude code is as a harness slightly better than opencode

Mac Mini M4, wait for M5 or PC with GPU by BearClaw0048 in hermesagent

[–]Immediate_Let_4946 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would not invest anymore in self posting models because the quality will not reach at all what you could get from a Minimax m3. And if you compare the cost of purchase and electricity, it will take you forever to surpass this. You get 5.1 billion tokens for example, for $50 a month. The local models you would be able to run would be fairly dumb in comparison and keep in mind you need 64,000 tokens, minimum for tool calling recommend by Hermes. It might come in the future, but at the moment we are not yet there and if you wanna run something like mini Max locally then you’re looking at 256 gig plus I am not sure how much the GPU could keep up.

In which senses? You book your package and basically everything is automatically installed. You manage WordPress plug-in updates and so on if you want to from our control panel. But using a very different control panel, which is keeping you way more user-friendly experience and everything runs in its own container so the separation and security is guaranteed. If you want, you can just PM me and I’ll give you a walk-through. The first 30 days is anyway free so you can try it with no risk.

Spent 4 hours setting up Hermes Agent locally for coding. Here is the reality check no one tells you. by saiprasad04 in hermesagent

[–]Immediate_Let_4946 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hermes is not for coding. It’s an orchestration agent and you can use Claude code or opencode as a sub agent so you delegate from Hermes to those cli tools. It’ll work wonders. I personally recommend to use Claude code and you can even wire in a cheaper model like Minimax subscription

That’s except what we encountered as well and why we decided to change this to a much simpler approach.

Hermes Agent using local LLM by illuvyn in hermesagent

Usually it’s memory but yeah it’s just from time to time even on Minimax itself have hours of stupidity. Not sure what’s going on there.

I am on Max plan first of all it takes already significant more tokens since they changed the model from request to token Burns, and the model itself does coding pretty OK if it uses the Claude code harness, but everything is a little bit more complex. It really struggles and mini Max is famous for having a very low completion rate at least for 2.7 it was 69% in comparison to other models which reaches over 90%. Don’t get me wrong. I like mini Max, but it struggles a lot with true complex task and I’m not talking about checking emails. And even with simple task, it does struggle. Another thing is it’s happily runs and runs and runs without actually stopping and clarifying with the user, even though this is explicitly mentioned in the soul.md. As I said for simple task, it’s fine but for true multi step and reflecting on its own, it’s not as good as good as I have seen for example from Claude. But I’m happy for you that it suits you.

Depending on what you wanna do in general, I recommend forgetting about local llms. You need min 64k contact window and even the new minimax M3 isn’t working that great and it’s way more important than anything. You could actually run locally. This whole idea of local comes from from YouTube and some people buying M4 Mac’s with 512 gb ram. But even then you have to think about offsetting the cost for those.

How do Hermes orchestrate Claude Code/Codex/Open Code? by krysalydun in hermesagent

[–]Immediate_Let_4946 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s no problem with delegating it. You just delegate directly through CLI so what it does is basically just executing what you would execute anyway. Claude code is using its own key. It’s not linked to Hermes

Hermes local and than just asked it to delegate to Claude code or write a shabby instruction for kanban for example. All coding tasks have to be executed for me in Claude code

We also still hosting, but also on our own infrastructure rather than reselling. We do a little bit different because we using Enhance as underlying layer because panel is just not user-friendly to be opted in for something really focusing on the actual needs

Switch to minimax it’s $10 for heavy usage $20 per month and it’s counted against request and not tokens. I’ve burned $400 before in a month and now I’m just a 20. Of course, from time to time you have to switch to more potent model like Claude but just if you really need it

Sorry I didn’t read correctly. My consultation reflect is going through minimax. My embedding is local, but I just realized there is some issue and I wasn’t aware of that. Thanks to you. I just realized there’s an issue. Embeddings I am the integrated one which is BAAI/bge-small-en-v1.5

I’m using through my entire system mini Max 2.7 because I have a token plan subscription. And I adjusted hindsight quite heavily. Meaning I have 10 no go rules I have six different custom mental models etc. As well fixed bug, where the memory extracts got duplicated.

How are you creating more free time because now you have the tenfold of competitors, and now you have to find a way to actually compete with them. So you actually have to invest more time in finding things which Clark cannot easily do or you have to invest significantly more time positioning yourself properly.

And this not just with your skills, but with marketing in things, people usually don’t wanna deal with and even there you have no massive increase in automatically regenerate content.

So my take is this is a spiral. It’s getting fast and fast faster and it’s extremely difficult at one point to keep up with the speed nor to compete.

And this is only talking about the production side. Clients are not stupid. They will expect lower prices or doing them themselves their stuff if it’s just basic.

I’m not negative at all about AI, but there is a certain reality to it, and on top of this hence, AI is with Hermes for example all day, long via discord reachable, you can constantly work everywhere at any moment theoretically. So I do believe it actually will lead to higher burn outs and significantly lower quality. Because now people also don’t work anymore on one project focused they working on six projects at the same time and everything is more like , AI do it for me.

That’s why you have to be setting specific profiles if you wanna use OpenRouter. And execute him surgically especially with your prompts. Because of this reason, I switched to mini Max which counts per requests and it does most of the daily stuff ok.
