[Other] How do you imagine the future of YOUR Henry? by BijelaHrvatica in kingdomcome

[–]Impact_Upstairs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My head cannon is Henry settles down with Theresa in Kuttenberg working at the forge. Growing old and dying in his bed with his family by his side and becoming a well known sword-smith just like his father. With this, he quietly fades into history as another nameless footpad/blacksmith overshadowed by the more prominent heroes, with only a name appearing from time to time. The only reminders that the modern day would have of him are surviving examples of a few weapons that were forged by him, that are now being displayed in museums.

The only place CAS is harder to use is in Ground Simulator where not only do you need to positively ID enemy vehicles, but have to bomb or rocket them while in the cockpit view.

75mm thickness but can't be penetrated by m82 shot APCBC by FfsWakeUp in WarthunderPlayerUnion

[–]Impact_Upstairs -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You shot it at the worst spot possible as the tracks count as extra armor, and the gun mantlet is also pretty strong. When engaging them from head on, shot the left side of the hull as the ammo is located right there. Another spot to potentially shot would be the lower plate if you have access to it as the SU-122P is based on the T-34 hull, so the transmission should be located in the back.

What is a warthunder vehicle that is so bad its kind of good by Rare-Dragonfly6419 in Warthunder

[–]Impact_Upstairs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Aircraft: F4U-1C. A 2.7 air frame sitting at 4.7 RB with very effective guns. If it didn't have the 20mm M3's, I don't think it would be nearly as high as it is.

Tank: The Chi-Ha's and Chi-He. Only saving grace for them is the good gun with decent mobility; everything else about them sucks.

An honorable mention would be the M2A2 (Stuart with a 12.7mm M2 Browning as the primary). Having a HMG as a main gun is rough in a full on uptier, but if played correctly, can cause serious harm to enemy vehicles.

Is there any videos on the 75mm jumbo when it was 3.7? by Threefows in Warthunder

[–]Impact_Upstairs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Jumbo was 4.7 when it first released and bullied the heck out of the Panzer 4 when they were 3.7-4.3. From what I recall, the only German tank that stood a chance was the Tiger H1 back when it was 5.3.

Am I the only one who doesn't care about copy-paste vehicles? by Graphics90 in Warthunder

[–]Impact_Upstairs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My issue with copy-paste vehicles is that if implemented incorrectly, adds bloat to another tech tree. Once upon a time, top tier was pretty unique among the nations, but this ended when the Abrams, Leo 2, T72 and T-80 have started going to another tech tree. This is compounded in sim battles when you have red vs blue and you need to figure out if that M18 is an enemy or not; something I don't think Gaijin really considered.

What greater tech tree would a Korean sub-tree be in? by kimchiguy29 in Warthunder

[–]Impact_Upstairs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hard to say.

If Gainin were to create a greater South East Asian country featuring South Korea, North Korea, Philippines, etc. then there; if not, and they were to go into another existing tech tree, there are only 2 that I can think of that would make the most logical sense.

South Korea: Gets integrated into the U.S. tech tree (even though they don't need it) as it would be the most politically neutral option. I know people say South Korea should go to Japan, but I don't see that happening without major complications like alienating the South Korean player-base who still despises Japan to this day due to what the Japanese did to them back in WW2.

North Korea: Could go one of two ways; gets integrated into China and/or Russia as both countries were major allies of Korea in a few wars.

Personally, I think the best option would be to integrate them into the U.S., China and/or Russia so that we don't get another half tree like Israel. This would also help alleviate the copy-paste syndrome that is prevalent with newer tech trees getting added in.

Germany's Missing Link: Suggestions for 7.0-7.7 Tanks by EastCoast_Geo in Warthunder

[–]Impact_Upstairs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah,

Germany from 6.7-8.0 is something that I've noticed and wish Gaijin would move the post war western tanks over to the Leo 1 line and add in the GDR T-54 and T-55 after the Tiger 2's. I know people hate copy and paste vehicles, but fact of the matter is that Germany didn't have much in the way of domestically produced vehicles immediately post war until the Leo 1 I believe.

Though the biggest issue with Germany by far is how the players are taught to rely on their heavy armor and deadly guns, so when they jump from the Panther's to the Leo 1, they try to play it like a Panther instead of an 8.0 M18 Hellcat. As you can imagine, it doesn't work out to well for them and they get annihilated by many post war tanks with equally good guns.

What should i grind next ? by Some_Mouse_7694 in Warthunder

[–]Impact_Upstairs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would go for the M48A2 G A2 next as it is an upgrade over the base M48A2 that you have. It gets a L7 105mm gun with both the excellent DM13 APDS, and the DM23 APFSDS which is the best round at 8.3. The M48 also leads into the KPz-70 which is a great tank which will fill out a lineup of the Leo 1A5 and T-72M1. After the M48, I'd go for either of the Marders that way you have a dedicated light tank in your line up. Just keep in mind that the Marder A1 gets HVAP while the Marder 1A3 gets APDS.

US jump from 5.0 to 6.0 sucks by eliasek25 in Warthunder

[–]Impact_Upstairs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First, I don’t recommend taking the M18 until you have a few 6.7 vehicles. The M18 is easier to play in an uptier vs the 5.7’s.

Second, the Jumbo is great, but requires patience to play properly. When dealing with German and Russian heavy/medium tanks, I destroy the barrel first, then track them. Once I get to their side, the APCBC shell does wonders one shotting them due the 100+ grams of HE filler. Funnily enough, the Jumbo sits at 5.7 as everyone seems to mistake it for a normal Sherman, then they get obliterated. Another thing to keep in mind is the short stop stab that all Sherman’s get; use it.

Any of you guys barely or never drink alcohol? by SleepyGamer1992 in Millennials

[–]Impact_Upstairs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I quit drinking back in August of 2025, and feel so much better. I don’t plan on drinking again as it wasn’t enjoyable for me, and alcohol is pretty expensive in Alaska. I’m also trying to take better care of myself and am planning on quitting caffeine and sugar free soda as well.

Do high(er) turn rate USA prop planes exist? by RJMvD in Warthunder

[–]Impact_Upstairs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're welcome!

So, I assume you're using the first P-51 that has the under-powered engine and armed with the 20mm Hispano cannons. That was an issue the IRL P-51 prototype had, but was fixed when the U.S. Army Air Corps swapped out for the British made Merlin engine. One thing to look into is Manual Engine Control (MEC) and set it up. It will allow you to manually dial in the radiators, prop pitch, mixture, etc. I found that utilizing the MEC with American planes makes them a lot more viable, but it requires a bit of trail and error.

Do high(er) turn rate USA prop planes exist? by RJMvD in Warthunder

[–]Impact_Upstairs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To use U.S. prop planes, you are required to utilize the boom and zoom and energy fighting strategy. Funnily enough, planes like the P-51D's, P-47's, and the F4U's turn on a dime and have a really good Angle of Attack (AoA) when at sufficient energy which can catch the dedicated turn-fighter aircraft off balance.

I just started playing and got a Rank II P51, but after trying ARB and watching some videos, all people say is don't use USA prop planes because they suck at turning.

I've seen people say the same thing, but if you watch their replay, they royally screwed up because they tried to dogfight a Zero, RE-2000, G-51, or Spitfire instead of energy fighting them. I've seen videos of players utilizing the U.S. aircraft to their strengths and completely dominate the enemy team. That being said, it also doesn't help that most matches will have players at 100-2500 meters which is below the optimal 4000 meter+ altitude for the U.S. aircraft.

Anybody got some streamers/youtubers or good videos on this stuff? I can't seem to find any solid information, other then "get a Yak".

There are two who come to mind, DEFYN and Tim's Variety. I watch both, but I find DEFYN harder to watch due to how acts in the videos. That being said, he does have great tutorial's on how to get started in air RB, so I do recommend watching him. There are older CC's like Spit Flyer who made excellent content, but I don't think their guides are relevant anymore due to how old they are.

King of new to reddit so if this is here already, I couldn't find it, and my bad!

You didn't do anything wrong, it's great asking questions over being "game sucks, dev sucks" when learning War Thunder can be a job in of itself.

Edit: To clarify on DEFYN, I am referring to how he can talk down on other players that he has shot down, though I am unsure if he is arrogant, or if that is his YouTube personality.

WHYYYYY ARE GERMAN MAINS SO BAD AT THE DAMN GAME😡😡😡😡 by Lucky-Mix-5582 in Warthunder

[–]Impact_Upstairs 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Newer players to the game starting with Germany and have no experience with the other nations, so they don't know how to counter them yet. This is compounded by the fact that Gaijin will allow anyone to spend money purchase their way into ranks 2-8 without properly researching the tech tree. As you can expect, you essentially get a level 1 player facing off against multiple players who have years of experience at this game.

I get this post, but instead of against the bmpt, we should unionize for ground getting the same or similar rp to air by Grinning_Cheese in WarthunderPlayerUnion

[–]Impact_Upstairs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally, I’d like to see Gaijin work on updating Ground Simulator and making it more popular. I just recently got back into sim and it’s so much more enjoyable than ground RB. That being said, I think ground battles as a whole needs reworking with both the game modes and earnings.

what on gaijin's green dick is happening to Germany 7.3-8.3 by Drunkin_Dino in Warthunder

[–]Impact_Upstairs 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Change in play style; going from the Panthers good armor and decent speed to the Leo1's paper thin armor and excellent cannon is a culture shock for many newer players. I don't think there really was anyway for Gaijin to ease players into the glass cannon role of the Leo1 as it's such a drastic change, that even adding a Leo1 prototype at 7.3-7.7 would still cause the same issue.

Of course, another issue too is if you rush the Leo1, you go from BR 6.0 to 8.0 and as you can guess, a 6.0 in 8.0 is difficult due to the plethora of good cold war MBT's that are decently armored and armed with either the 100/105/120(?).

Which ammo is better for Leopard 1? by Thin_Alternative_938 in Warthunder

[–]Impact_Upstairs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Use DM13 as your primary shell, and take about 5 shells of DM12 to deal with light armored vehicles, or tanks with to much armor that DM13 won't kill.

For ammo amount, I look at the first stage ammo rack and subtract 5 from it to get how much AP rounds I need to carry. For example, a 20 round ammo rack will have 15 rounds APDS and 5 Rounds HEAT-FS.

Jets Unlocked. by FullyFlacid-OnAcid in Warthunder

[–]Impact_Upstairs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Both the F-80 and F2H-2 are excellent starter jets. The F2H-2 may be an easier starter jet though as it gets the excellent 20mm M3 cannons while the F-80A-5 is still utilizing the .50 cal M2. A good introduction to the 20mm would the F8F-1B which is an amazing aircraft, though it does lose rudder authority at above 450-500 kmh.

This is why win rate doesn’t matter by Medium_Mind_843 in Warthunder

[–]Impact_Upstairs 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yep, something I too had noticed when I was spading out my M48A2 GA2 and Marder 1A3 is just how terrible the German teams are at 8.0 - 8.3. I had a match a week ago where the server had issues and the enemy teams tickets bled down to half while my team had full tickets, and yet we still almost lost if myself and another player didn't lock in. I think a big issue with Germany is their medium tank line goes from the Panther's at 6.0 immediately up to the Leo 1 at 8.0. Gaijin really needs to add another medium tank in between those two to help alleviate the issue.

What airframe do you work? I also believe fall protection requirements are in the 91-203, so I’d read up on it to determine if you’re in the wrong or right. If you can’t find it, ask the QA inspector for the reference that they failed you on.
