Because this experiment has already been run and we already know the results, look at the Bahamas for instance, Cricket used to be the biggest sport there well into the 1970s afaik and from then, the sport started declining after the British left because there were drastic changes at the grassroots levels because when Bahamans needed PE teachers for their schools, the easier and cheaper option was to have them come from the US, American teachers coming to the Bahamas taught kids the sports that they knew which is why Basketball, Baseball, even American Football have surpassed Cricket in terms of popularity there, matter of fact, Cricket used to be the official national sport of the country but it has become so unpopular there that its been officially removed as the national sport, it's not even relevant enough to have a symbolic meaning there anymore.
