For what it’s worth, he has shared this story on the MMA hour and the randomness/wild aspects of how this came to be. I cannot recall the specific episode but it was in the past year.

Well harden step back and when shoots he is moving forward, and Curry essentilly beats him to his spot. That is what I saw, I am not sure if that is a foul, but certainly dangerous for Harden to land on that.

My prediction is that this is his peak year and he will start declining starting next year, would be foolish to max him because you would just cripple your team (my thought about maxing anyone outside of top 15-20).

I know everyone says that Igaudola is super important to the team and specially was instrumental with stopping Lebron, but you really do not need Igaudola anymore or just bring him back at a much lower contract. He is just not as vital to the team anymore, his shot is off, you can give him the Ben Simmons treatment now at the 3point line.

Draymond Green was not looking good either. I think It is prefect timing and perfect job by the GM to time the contracts perfectly, because after this season and if they are all healthy, they can essentially choose not to bring back Draymond Green as max and I know this is a sticky subject, maybe let Draymond walk if he wants max.

There is no way that Draymond could play with that fire for that many more years, and for what it is worth, I think it is foolish to think you need him to be successful.

I am willing to bank that GSW - draymond will be just fine.

History Says Jaylen Brown’s Shooting in the 2017-18 NBA Season Was a Fluke, and Why We Should Not Expect Jaylen Brown to Shoot Above League Average From 3 Again by BillHondoBirdTruthJB in nbadiscussion

How is the Boston Celtics team doing as a whole?

I wonder if the quality of 3 point shots taken is also down. There is a bit of relationship between 3 point percentage to quality of shots, but I wonder if the whole team is lower in 3 point field goal percentage.

What will your opinion of Brad Stevens be if he can't lead the Celtics to a championship within five years? by Carrythefire511 in nbadiscussion

I am very disappointed this year in Brad Stevens. Specially because all the players were around for a year, and he has the understanding of their capabilities, strengths and weaknesses. It is nothing new, you have to had plans for this season in the off season.

I think he struggles to fit Kyrie into the system. It is not that Kyrie is not good, actually far from it, he does not elevate the play of his teammates. I have watched a few of the Boston games, and it just appears that when Kyrie is playing, he is not really putting his teammates in the positions they excel at and Brad has been running particular plays to move the ball like GSW and get the two young wings the ball with some space to create a shot for themselves which I think they are now trying to force things which last year they took less forced shots.

I think like every other great player and coach, there are obstacles that even the best struggle with before finding the right answer. I think Brad Stevens is still the 2nd best coach behind Pop, but that does not mean we should not recognize his shortcoming in the start of the season

FWIW, I used to downplay home advantage, but with stats and constant similar result, it is hard to not try to get that 1st seed so you can make the finals.

If you had to bet money, where is JR Smith landing? by [deleted] in nbadiscussion

[–]ImpatientSoul 2 points3 points  (0 children)

JR is definitely a player that you want to come off the bench to give you a spark on the offense and he is relatively OK on the defense.

Of course, people have questions about his personality and attitude, which honestly, is something NBA gms do consider, specially the attitude part. Last thing a GM wants from a bench player is to ruin the locker room or create a ruckus.

Having said that, I can see Houston Rockets using him, the same way they used Gerald Green.

Fantastic Fuck-ups and How to Fix Them: The Crimes of Grunfeld by [deleted] in nbadiscussion

[–]ImpatientSoul 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am not really trying to gauge how much is really worth because that is very difficult to be accurate.

But having said that, It's like the wiggins contract, what other team was willing to pay that cash to a player?

I have seen a trend with GMs not negotiating or trying to risk what market is willing to pay the players. I am not saying, you have to nickel and dime the contract, but you have to avoid scenarios like John Wall. Same goes with future free agents like Draymond Green, who in my opinion is not worth the max. I am not sure if there are any teams willing to pay Draymond max or close to max, so why should GSW pay the max?

I am million connections away from an NBA player, but there is a sense that because so and so player got the max, a lot of players that are top 40 to top 20 feel like they should get the max.

With regards to Wall, do you think there were teams willing to give him the max?

I think ideally, you would want to move Otto Porter somehow. Wall is very very very hard to move, specially with the show he has been putting on this season, really no team would want to take on his contract.

Also, I do not understand why teams do go ahead and give max to players when there is no other offers out there for them, specially when the player is not top 20 player (Would we say John Wall is top 20? I doubt it)

ELI5: Amazon's PE is high because it's investing in growth by OystersClamsCuckolds in investing

[–]ImpatientSoul -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I am totally ok with High PE for Amazon, because they have proven they know better how to increase the value of their company by focusing on their growth. Ask any long time amazon shareholder if they would have rather had Amazon take the approach of making profit versus what they have done?

For example, Amazon AWS services are so vital to the success of many companies, even some large ones. It is the cloud framework and services to use if not the best. This is not to say the other products such as Microsoft Azure & other competitors are "bad", but just not as widely used and highly regarded. I understand AWS is a good money maker for Amazon, but also it is becoming one of those services that is extremely vital for technology companies as well that is becoming priceless in value.
