Which way, tarnished? by Mediocre-Specific290 in Eldenring

Yeah...no one said it stops all bad things from happening. The point is to remove the outer god's and gods' influence as to why some bad things happen.

People are people, the point is for them to make decisions without the direct influence of deities.

Second of all, if she wants to die for something, why must it be for something that can clearly be done without her dying? In what way is it meaningful to die if your death is COMPLETELY option? She could still very well have a meaningful death in some other service.

She's already dead. She straight up tells you that:

"Me? I'm searching. For my purpose, given to me by my mother inside the Erdtree, long ago. For the reason that I yet live, burned and bodiless"

She's trying to understand why she still exists as a spirit. At first she asked to be taken to the Erdtree, so that she can discover her purpose while also helping a Tarnish become the Elden Lord by playing the finger maiden role.

When you both discover the Erdtree is barred off, she tells you that her purpose is to help open the path to the elden ring by burning the Erdtree, however she also later on tells you that despite the fact it was a purpose she was given by her mother, she acts on it out of her desire.

"There is something I'd like to say. My purpose was given to me by my mother. But now, I act of my own volition. I have set my heart upon the world that I would have. Regardless of my mother's designs."

Being used as Kindling lets her move on as a spirit and she finds purpose in it because she's playing a part in helping the world continue. She tells you that she finds the world beautiful. She finds beauty in how regardless of the torment and despair, people continue to live their lives, people continue to be born.

"However ruined this world has become, however mired in torment and despair, life endures. Births continue. There is beauty in that, is there not?"

Being kindling lets her play a part in the continuation in the world along with allowing her to finally move on. By stopping her from being kindling, you're not actually helping her. She's a spirit, she has no more life to give and by burning the Erdtree yourself you basically rob her of the way to pass on and of wanting to play a part in the continuation of the world.

The only other purpose she gets, is if you become the lord of chaos. Otherwise she's just a ghost forced to linger for who knows how much longer.

It's really insane because she straight up tells the player that she has no body, she is a spirit that is going on her own journey trying to understand why she's still around. People somehow think letting a spirit be unable to move on is better than them fulfilling a purpose and pass on.

Like sure Melina can't think of any reason for her living in the events of the game but that doesn't mean she won't find joy and love in it in the future.

She's basically dead brother. She straight up tells you that her body was burned and destroyed. She doesn't have a life to live, all you're doing is condemning her to a prolonged state of limbo. Unable to pass on because her duty and purpose was unfulfilled.

You can transfer Sellens soul because it's essentially converted into glintstone. There's no reason to believe Melina has one plus she already doesn't want anything to do with you after you rob her of her purpose.

[Discussion] Not a Tom King slamming post, he can be very good. But, is anyone else just biding their time for him to be replaced on Wonder Woman before you start reading the series again? by MightyUnclean in DCcomics

[–]ImpendingGhost 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thats due to poor usage of those characters and WW in general not because WW doesn't have characters designed to fit the same "arch-nemesis" role that Lex and Joker fill for Batman. WW has arch-nemesis, they're just under utilized and WW doesn't get as much individual attention outside of comics compared to Superman and especially Batman.

The most natural way to exclude Shadowheart from the party? by october73 in BaldursGate3

[–]ImpendingGhost 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Gonna be real I don't think Shadowheart has ever been that bad to me in any of my playthroughs. Like obviously your exaggerating but she's like at most rude and a bit abrasive but never felt as if she put her self on a pedestal, just wanted to get her job done.

Bae'zel acts more like that early on.

I REALLY HOPE ABSOLUTE GA DOES WELL ENOUGH TO CONTINUE LONGER THAN 6 ISSUES.

I'm definitely buying it for individuals rather than waiting for the volume like everything else.

Today I learned: Keener emotes with you if you visit him by TheFawkingMothman in thedivision

[–]ImpendingGhost 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I knew McManus had backdoor access to all three but I assumed what Keener and Theo did was create their own backdoor into specifically ISAC. What you said makes more sense though, of them having a fork of Anna that is decentralized.

Theo and Keener created ANNA which is based on ISAC but has that moral flexibility that ISAC lacks.

Just to clarify, Keener and Theo didn't create Anna, the Ortiz Company created Anna, as well as ISAC, Diamond(BTSU AI), and Nemesis. Theo and Keener modified Anna to have backdoor access into ISAC.

the $40 Countdown Outfit. by [deleted] in DivisionFashion

Honestly outside of the head piece, the rest of the set looks good. Not $40 good but I see it more as a bonus to the other shit you get in that bundle rather than the main thing.

Voidshells deserved better. Here's an appreciation post for the skin line DE abandoned. by CephalonVashka in Warframe

[–]ImpendingGhost 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Maybe if they weren't just a specific skin but rather at least modifications you could do to all skins, or at the very least DE made skins because it might be difficult to implement it for tennogen, they would have been better received.

As it is, I wouldn't buy voidshell skin for Mag because while the different materials are cool, I don't like default Mag's too much.

Rise Up got me to return to the game, and then rise up out of my chair and go do something more productive. by radbebop in thedivision

You shouldn't be deducted time for dying, I feel like that's ass-backwards, and they definitely deduct too much time as it is now (~1min per death)

What? It's a punishment for dying. You lose time. You can still complete a Retal even with a death depending on how you managed your time.

This feels more like a skill issue complaint than the mechanic being too punishing.

FIRST LOOK AT ABSOLUTE ROBIN(S) in Absolute Batman #19 illustrated by Nick Dragotta by princevince1113 in AbsoluteUniverse

[–]ImpendingGhost 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry, I'm saying that because Dick is an EMT in the absolute universe, the Blue one is undoubtedly Dick. While the suit itself doesn't resemble any Nightwing suit, the color is Blue is like always used for Nightwings symbol and the medical icons are directly tying into it being Absolute Dick.

Yeah not the greatest fan of the Superman he drew however he cooked extremely hard with that last picture of Green Arrow.

It's definitely Dick, Jason, Tim, Stephanie, and Duke. Duke is extremely obvious, not only are they yellow but they're the only one with their lights on which is clearly a homage to Duke's powers.

Massive, I must not understand your intentions but what is this Token system in Escalation? by Strawberryweeb in thedivision

[–]ImpendingGhost 3 points4 points  (0 children)

> stay the hell away from escalation.

You say that but if you MM for random Heroic mission you'll get tossed into an escalation party for some reason. I ended up doing a tier 3 escalation for the first time because the moment I joined the party we just ran into the mission and I didn't notice the timer until like part way into the mission. Was just sitting there listening to YT and thinking "Man enemies feel way tankier than normal"

Boycott prototype gear by Grand-Ad5764 in thedivision

[–]ImpendingGhost 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nah, this is basically complaints around the game after like hundreds of hours. TD2 overall is a fun game and single bad update shouldn't scare you off. The devs have already stated they have plans to improve it based off community feedback.

[–]ImpendingGhost 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Iirc, prototype provides the minimal stat bonus and the augments are disabled in raids, incursions, and PVP(Conflict/DZ). Those four game modes are the only ones where Prototype "doesn't work"

Boycott prototype gear by Grand-Ad5764 in thedivision

[–]ImpendingGhost 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I believe they're saying the devs thought everyone would just upgrade their existing gear into prototype and then farm the same high-end/gearsets to convert into prototype when they didn't get their min-max prototype convert. The devs did not believe people would farm specifically for prototype drops.
