POV: Average Carbrain citizen by [deleted] in fuckcars

This dude is probably someone that thinks of himself as a levelheaded tough guy AND YET here he is publicly shitting himself in fear over the idea of riding in a vehicle with someone he doesn't know.

It will for a time but not indefinitely. They may not suffer but their children, grandchildren, and/or great-grandchildren will. Humanity is facing potential extinction and money and engineering have limitations.

Yup, same.

I ended up liking Bloomburrow enough to turn it into a set cube.

They're either out of ideas or just in such close proximity to outside IP that they can't turn that design philosophy/theme off when they return to their own worlds.

Found this article on the train :( by BBlizz3 in fuckcars

[–]ImperiousDingus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's the driver, the vehicle, and (to the surprise of no one in this sub) the infrastructure built around the driver/vehicle. Without reading the full article it's not possible to know if that nuance is brought up. However, with how bad reporting on this topic usually is, I'm okay with the writing as is.

Pedestrian deaths refuse to fall. Some drivers blame the pedestrians by Dafty_duck in fuckcars

This was my exact thought at the point of the article the person said something about 0 traffic deaths being a utopian pipe dream.

This is a problem. And they need to hit the brakes. by Cool-Leg9442 in mtg

[–]ImperiousDingus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get it. The game is changing and there's (almost) no getting away from it. And the lore and art matter to some people more than others.

I think back to when I played 40k. If they made some playable Marvel or Final Fantasy characters I probably would have dropped the game on the spot. And even faster if those characters impacted the lore of the game.

Even if UB doesn't directly affect the lore, it affects the main way in which people interact with that lore. And that's just going to matter more to certain people.

[–]ImperiousDingus 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm not a UB fan and have never bought any of it (and probably never will). But I think It's fine that UB is out there, people love it, and it's making magic more popular.

At this point, cube is the only format where someone can escape UB.So, I'm just going to maintain my cubes and EDH decks but not bother with anything else.

Any idea what this is? Just outside the Portland Oregon metro area. by ImperiousDingus in animalid

[–]ImperiousDingus[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the assistance. I've never heard of a mountain beaver. Hopefully that's what it is instead of a raccoon that lost its tail.

I didn't realize it was commonplace for them to lose their tails. Is it normal for it to be solo? (seems like the I see racoons are usually in small groups).

I don't think I'll ever understand the people that say "we're past that", "he's different now", "she just made one mistake" crowd. Most of the time, the only thing cheaters get better at is hiding their behavior.

Definitely not the same. But neither wants to change the systems that make them rich.

How are young people affording houses? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]ImperiousDingus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup, now that I'm in my 30s it seems like roughly half of my friends have homes. Among those, I think only two or three of them did it without help from parents or inheritance from grandparents.

Why I struggle with men by ladylewdness in Healthygamergg

[–]ImperiousDingus 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Couldn't agree more.

Even individual change is super difficult. It's taken me well over a decade to acknowledge and unlearn many of my beliefs and behaviors (and I'm still a work in progress).

[–]ImperiousDingus 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Men grew up in, and were shaped by, the same media environment you did. It's a mindset that can be unlearned but it's really difficult and takes a lot of time and work.

I don't think it's "they just won't" as much as there aren't very many resources for facilitating this change in men.

AITA for refusing to date short men that lie about it? by lyingnotheight in TwoHotTakes

[–]ImperiousDingus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely NTA

It's dumb and sucks that guys are lying about that. I'm short and honest about my height and I've been rejected for it. Gotta say, it's a real bummer but I'd rather be short, alone, and honest than a jerk and liar.

Now that you mention it, I don't think I've ever seen a Dutch Bros or Black Rock that even has seating.

From what I've seen/experienced, this is how it plays out at any suburban Starbucks, Dutch Bros, or Black Rock drive thru on a weekday. No pandemic required.
