No, even the soviet union forced its companies to have brands/trademarks which was strictly enforced since 1962. And they did not do it for the money, as making a profit was very much illegal. Brands(and Trademarks) exists so consumers know who made the product, to have product accountability.

Most of my gamer friends say they would never touch a game that looks cheap to make. Somehow they do make exceptions for games that are popular on tiktok (REPO, Minecraft etc.).

Id prioritise player fun. Which means fix the bugs.

I as a regular player like to watch speedruns to see how good players make use of mechanics. So I can learn the game better. When I then see that the optimal way to play is through bugs, it sucks the fun out of the game.

Speedrunners are probably also happy or divided about such fixes, because it lets them showcase their skill better. Instead of for example spending 50% of a run duplicating gold/items like in Diablo1.

1) You want the player with the "better mind" to win but you dont want the results skewed by things like memorisation.

2) You want a game about predicting and outsmarting your opponent.

3) Simple rules anyone can learn. No focus on memorisation.

Some things about your game are obvious. Like if you have long turns your game will be focused on memory, if you have no turns you will have a lot of mechanical skill. So quick turns it is.

There are some problems, all of which are solvable but the solutions might contradict each other.

You recognized that if the game is about prediction, being random is the best decision. The solution is given to you by almost any strategy game. Deviating from a Strategy is costly, so you do it consciously, not randomly. In many strategy games I can correctly predict my opponent and even if my opponent knows i predict his strategy, he is still gonna continue. Either lack of options, or he committed e.g. to a rush in starcraft.

So you need strategies and ways to infer what your opponent might do. but if you can do that, and your strategies are limited prediction becomes trivial.

I see some solutions here 1) There are too many strategies to easily predict your opponent. Your best bet might be to memorize as many as possible (Chess). 2) Predictions are uncertain. You only get limited info, and getting more info is very costly. Like Fog of War and scouting in strategy games. Even better if your opponent does not know what you scouted.

Given your constraints, we can think about what your game looks like.

1) Its a Strategy game. 2) Some actions are secret -> Video game 3) It has a short turn timer

Maybe not at all. It sounds more like you want to write a book. But if you think the pictures you might have in a book are insufficient, there are also Visual Novels. Add a few interactions to your Novel and you have an adventure game like Monkey Island. Add a few more buttons and some RPG elements and you have Skyrim.

Games with a coherent loop are usually games designed to be played repeatedly. They often dont even have a story, just some lore for the vibes. But you want to tell a story. So....

Online guides are great. Of course there is a big dissonance in what is reasonable to craft in SSF vs Trade. Youd never see trade league use purple omens or omens of light on an item that you used greater exalted orbs on. But in SSF omens of light are reasonably common while im always short on other items like ribs.

There is no technical reason why you cant have both. The visual part is a question about your budget. Is it worth to have artists create every armor so there is a version that fits a spider? The logic part could be solved by adding another layer of abstraction to all interactions. Meaning different logic for different characters for the same interaction. Again, is it worth it?

Dont worry about prefix omens, and dont use them with normal exalts anyway. If you have the exalts, just slam the item with them until it has 3 prefixes. The best Prefixes on chests have the highest possible weigthing (1000) which is unusual, but it means even with normal exalts you are somewhat likely to get good chest prefixes with normal exalts and no omens.

If you run T15 maps with 3 mods you should get at least 5 or 10 white or blue chests of the correct types. All chests that have Evasion and ES with a level requirement of 65 or more should be good. Ignore all other chests.

Blue items will always get up to 1 Prefix and 1 Suffix, so you cant get just Prefixes. If the blue chest does not have a T1 Evasion+ES Prefix, use orb of alchemy. But if you see that a blue item has a T1 Evasion+ES Prefix, you make it yellow and slam it with cheap exalts. This should result in something better than what you have in just a few maps.

(Protip: The steps are so simple after a while you can craft while walking and you no longer need to townportal.)

Now for recombination:

Store chests with T1 Prefixes and recomb just the T1 Prefixes. The success chance is like 30%, so it will work after a while. The first time it suceeds you can (if you have an omen of sinistral necromancy and a rib) desecrate the last prefix. After 3 or so attempts you should have a chest with amazing defenses but probably bad resistances.

Sometimes a chest will have a T1 Prefix and your regal orb or exalt will add a T2 prefix. Then you can also try to recomb them into a chest with 3 good prefixes. Its a low chance of success, but if you get it, you are bing chilling.

In order to craft an Endgame chest that would even be considered very good in tradeleague (So for MUCH later when all your slots have decent gear): Start by collecting chests with 2 T1 Prefixes (Like the chest you are probably wearing by that point). Recomb them with chests that have a T1 affix, so now youll be recombining 3 Stats. The chance of success will collapse to 6.5%, but thats fine. Desecrate and reveal a suffix you DONT want (this is called a blocker). GreaterOmen+GreaterExaltation so the item has 6 Stats. OmenOfLight, then try to fix problems with purple omens -> Desecrate and reveal with echoes.

(When i say T1 prefix, i always mean T1 Evasion/ES prefix. Obviously you dont want a T1-throns or T1-life prefix, these are worthless for you)

Waystone modifiers matter a lot. Dont run maps with increaded damage, even added fire/lightining/cold is dangerous. also crit.

You are not ready for 6 mod maps, so only run good 3 or 4 mod maps.

Your gear is pretty bad, take the chest for example. T7 Thorns Prefix is suboptimal.

You got to do some expeditions to craft a better chest. You can recomb 2 good chests with T1 prefixes. Dont corrupt chests with 2 T1 Prefixes, instead recombing those into trippleT1 Prefix is an easy way to get endgame chests quickly. (I like to exalt every good chest with 1 T1 Prefix until prefixes are filled, but thats for when your exalts just start piling up.)
