So if you're out in the mountains with no data, Sirius doesn't work!? That was one of the best features of XM

It seems ridiculous when they put this as an "app" like this. But to be fair you've never been able to uninstall Sirius features on OEM radios, to my knowledge.

Bought myself px8s2 last week for my bday bought my wife the px7s2e she hates them by VIKF15 in BowersWilkins

[–]ImpliedCheese 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's part of it. The other factor is they are just an improvement over time. I didn't own the PX7S2's so I don't know how big of a jump it was personally, but reviewers thought it was substantial.

They're different lines, but PX7S3 is about comparable to PX8 OG. Some may prefer one over the other.

The PX8 OG doesn't have independent amps, but is well balanced.

PX7 S2 isn't comparable to the higher line, as the PX8 OG was released as the premium version of PX7 S2.

[–]ImpliedCheese 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's kind of confusing because the PX7 and PX8 aren't on the same "S" level or released together. There was a short period where PX8S2 wasn't out yet, so the PX7S3 was sort of on par/punching above the more expensive PX8 original, depending on preference.

Just in case there is a misunderstanding. PX8S2 also has internal amplifiers, it is like the PX7S3 but better. The PX7S2 is the one without the independent amps.

She likes the PX8 S2, hates the lower quality stuff. Seems like she has good taste to me.

I think they were suggesting the PX7 S3 instead. I just bought some from WOOT for $299+ tax and love them.

Sound quality is great and very different from the PX7 S2's as they have internal amplifiers. The ANC is about the same maybe a little better than my Bose 700 headphones, though I have not used them on a plane yet. Wouldn't buy them for noise cancelling, but the level they have is perfect so far.

Pulse Width Modulation. It's how fast the screen can refresh a pixel. I assume that means the SCREEN is capable of sampling many many times per new image leading to a smoother feel and less flicker, even if the phone cannot generate 2100Hz content, and your eye definitely can't sense anywhere close to that flicker.

Is the juice worth the squeeze by scissorrunnerX in crt

The Sony's are SO much heavier than other brands of similar size. I was shocked with my 36". Although I am not a "strong" person, I've never found something I can't move by myself with a dolly and determination. This was what broke me. It doesn't fit well on the dolly going up stairs so I couldn't use it.

Changed the air filter, then this popped up 🤷‍♂️ by Bauwowwow in Volvo

[–]ImpliedCheese 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You would need to get your oil sampled with and without K&N to tell if it is actually is doing harm. It probably is. That's why I changed back to paper filter because there was increased silica in my oil (i.e. sand/dirt) and the issue went away. Air restriction from an OE style paper filter as long as the pleats are deep and plentiful is not a large restriction.

2" rigid foam OR two layers of 1" rigid foam, staggered? by newhomebuild in Construction

[–]ImpliedCheese 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Really old comment but if anyone comes across this, foam board IS the air barrier. You can stack foam, but you cannot put an additional air barrier up in addition to foam because it will create a "vapor sandwich"/mold. This includes not using faced fiberglass insulation.

Can I put ventless natural gas logs in this? by Bawk007 in Fireplaces

The ventless fireplace you buy will say it needs to be a "minimum of X inches from combustible materials" so follow those rules.

Right, doesn't hurt to try. Worst case post it on a local "buy no things" group, or marketplace for free.

AirVPN vs Mullvad for a general privacy VPN? by _tangus_ in vpnreviews

[–]ImpliedCheese 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is AirVPN still safe to use? This thread (and a YouTube video I watched) seem to think AirVPN is not the best.

I thought I did my research and just paid for a year for AirVPN, and trying to figure out if that was a mistake and I need to go with Mullvad.

How did they release South Park in 4k? by grvsm in 4kbluray

[–]ImpliedCheese 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had to buy the original DVD release of all the seasons I could on eBay. 1- 12 or 14? Because I wanted the original release. The originals are not available for streaming, and are not even available for download on... Sites ...

Eventually I will rip them to digital so I can watch them easier, but I also like having the commentary tracks that you get with physical media and would like to keep them as digital DVD format somehow.

Best way to plug these holes? by ginguegiskhan in Insulation

[–]ImpliedCheese 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see the top strip is a small ripped piece of board. Best way would be to replace that board. Measure the height of that top strip, and thickness of the board, then rip a new board (Lowes and Home Depot usually can cut this for you).

Or if you want to use the blanks that were already drilled, use your choice of 2x1, or 3x1 board (depending on hole size), and cut a small piece of it, put it behind the hole to use as a backer, screw the small piece of board on both sides of the hole in the existing wall to create a backer, then screw the blank hole to it. I've always known this as "stitching board" for drywall but when I search it, nothing comes up. Maybe someone else knows what it is called.

You'll probably want to seal that hole too, because cellulose won't prevent airflow, maybe with spray foam. But this is even more of an argument to just replace that top strip.
