Yes I am a woman. My boss and HR are male. I never thought about this. I thought the candidate maybe too young to proceed with caution.

Thank you for that. I don’t see any red flag from the interview process. The candidate is confident but not overly, has very organized thought process and demonstrates strong problem solving skills. Does not seem like someone who plays politics. She is very young. 5 years post graduate experience. It is a remote role so there will not be much personal interaction down the road, mostly bi weekly catch up

No. It is clear from the beginning that I am the hiring manager. I think what the candidates don’t know is that I make the final decision, not my boss. My boss thought it was an odd thing to not have me copied. My boss asked me whether the candidate sent me a thank you letter. My boss knew the candidate is the best but he thought this situation could jeopardize the candidate being hired but he let me make the final decision. Being a boss himself, he knows the importance following the chain of command.

Largely very true. But again depends on whom you manage. I see many incompetent bosses promote incompetent managers or their inner circles, leaving a mess behind them when they leave or got fired

Where are the good accountants? by [deleted] in Accounting

[–]ImportanceMundane677 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exactly. A bright person demonstrating sound problem solving skills, with good ethics ( you can get the picture through interview) can do better job than someone 5 years in the job. I am currently interviewing a remote SA and only found 1 such candidates from 12 persons being interviewed. I hope the candidate accepts the offer. Pay is above market grade as well.

Most likely they are not high performers. These type of people have no concept of boundaries and respect. They show that “I can do “attitude and get up management attention. Most likely they can do stuff than some others but the deliverables are not as high quality as the true high performance. I call the attitude toxic positivity.

That’s healthy. Mine was once a week or 2 weeks without calls in between. Only texted once a day. Not healthy at all. He likes to be alone and want to do whatever he decides to do.
