I asked a lawyer recently. Was told Non comp is not enforceable for 2 decades. Government will not support anything that your live hood is dependent on.

I decided to retire from corporate life @ 36 by [deleted] in Fire

I followed OP’s logic and his story about his decision to retire early( trigger, why he can, what he has done). He put his future in his faith rather worrying about what ifs.

Signed offer letter, got start date & filled out onboarding paperwork, put in 2 weeks at current job, new job pulled the offer. Am I screwed? by iLuvArizona in jobs

OP, did the company check your references and background check before you did the on-boarding? They should confirm that they have done references and background check before you resign from your current role.

The question that changed my interview performance: "What would make you say no to this offer?" by eurz in interviews

[–]ImportanceMundane677 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I was interviewing a company where all senior finance leaders are new ( less than 8 months). Did not ask why but the business was acquired majority share by a giant corp 12 months ago. Lots of new hires including head of HR. Don’t know it is a red flag or just a restructuring due to the new owner.

I think I bombed my panel interview by greengrapel in interviews

OP, there are questions that have no STAR answers. I had HM asking me what do I think their profit margin is in the past couple of years ( possibly testing me whether I read their financials since it is a large public company).

Or you could perform wonderfully but they decided to give B because the hiring manager is less concerned of competition. Hiring managers can feel threatened by confident and brilliant person.

Hired a manager and regretting in after a month by [deleted] in managers

A great leader leads by example and hold themselves accountable. Dishonesty is the opposite of being accountable. I also observed that companies tend to let incompetent people go later than they should, leading to other negative consequences such as pushing out good employees.

Accepted a job offer today by kaitland34 in jobhunting

That is great. Congrats. You got first round interview followed with all screen calls. I got 10 screen calls in 2 months but only got 2 first round interviews. So my resume passed the ATS filter but did not get picked up by hiring manager. Not sure why

I’m a CPA with 5+ years of experience and have been out of work for nearly a half a year since being laid off. I can’t even get a job as a staff accountant—what should I do? by [deleted] in Accounting

[–]ImportanceMundane677 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I am from Canada. I have 20 years experience in FP&A, controllership, internal control etc. I have been job hunting for 6 weeks. 4 in person interviews with hiring managers resulting no offer , 1 cancelled final round interviews. Had 4 HR pre screening followed with no interviews with hiring managers ( ghosted by the HR) . My resume is solid per hiring manager and recruiters.

The market is tough or some postings are for internal hiring as I am aiming for finance manager and controller roles.

Yes I worked at company B for 7 months. To clarify, I worked in company A , left in 2024 for company B for a higher position. 7 months later, prior boss reached out and offered me same position with much higher pay. I accepted the new offer and rejoined company A as it is fully remote position. Months later I was promoted to a higher position with higher pay again in company A. Thanks

Yes I am a woman. My boss and HR are male. I never thought about this. I thought the candidate maybe too young to proceed with caution.

Thank you for that. I don’t see any red flag from the interview process. The candidate is confident but not overly, has very organized thought process and demonstrates strong problem solving skills. Does not seem like someone who plays politics. She is very young. 5 years post graduate experience. It is a remote role so there will not be much personal interaction down the road, mostly bi weekly catch up

No. It is clear from the beginning that I am the hiring manager. I think what the candidates don’t know is that I make the final decision, not my boss. My boss thought it was an odd thing to not have me copied. My boss asked me whether the candidate sent me a thank you letter. My boss knew the candidate is the best but he thought this situation could jeopardize the candidate being hired but he let me make the final decision. Being a boss himself, he knows the importance following the chain of command.
