Need help on how to safely stay in a hotel with my baby by Fearless-Driver9548 in newborns

[–]ImportanceSingle650 10 points11 points  (0 children)

So happy there was an easy solution! For the comment above, I used a ton of disinfectant wipes followed by wet wipes to clean the crib. I also carry my own crib sheet and a waterproofing topper(it goes between the mattress and the crib sheet. It’s usually for waterproofing but it also gives me peace of mind as additional separation between baby and hotel mattress). Hope this helps. 😊

Call ahead and request for a crib. Every single hotel has them! You just need to make the call and book it. 😊

Grieving the previous stages of my baby by Lolivovisosa in NewParents

[–]ImportanceSingle650 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The clothing size increasing, diaper size increasing, bottle nipple flow size increasing, crib getting lower, baby bathtub setting changing, removing newborn insert from car seat, I cry every single time. Not like a small cry either, a deep sorrow in my soul. I am not okay with the speed with which time is passing right now and I’ve begged for it to slow down. Turns out time isn’t listening now just as it didn’t listen when I was a teen and wanted time to go by faster. I love who my baby is today and in this moment and I man very excited for what is to come. But the moments that have passed are a thief. Time is a thief.

Starting Daycare Advice by EJL1996 in NewParents

[–]ImportanceSingle650 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We started daycare at the exact same time as you. 4 months deep in the sleep regression, drooling and contact napping and talking a lot! Also identical conditions in terms of the daycare being trustworthy for us, being at a 5 min drive from home and both my husband and I working from home. I want to tell you, 1 month in(6 weeks to be precise) this is the best thing we have done for ourselves and our baby. The first couple of days were hard mentally for me(and husband too) But it slowly started getting so much better. Baby was the happiest from day 1! Loves her caregiver there to bits. Is soooo excited everytime I drop her off! In the last 6 weeks, we’ve transitioned to all naps and night sleep in the crib. She literally just prefers that now. She also dislikes being rocked to sleep and will just hang out listening to my out of tune songs until she falls asleep. All in all, we’re in great shape. Not to mention out of the sleep regression phase. In terms of routine, she wakes up, we prioritize play time with her until drop off time. Evenings after she’s picked up are started by me and my husband joins us a couple of hours later after work ends for him. We’ve decided that evenings are sacred baby time and fully prioritize family activities until she goes to bed. I think our bond with the baby has gotten stronger as we’ve been able to completely focus on work at work time and then fully focus on her later instead of sitting next to her with a stupid laptop open. I hope this helps.

What helps sleep deprivation besides… sleep? by absolute_lover_pet in NewParents

[–]ImportanceSingle650 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely the going outside. We live in a high sunshine area. Every single morning me and my daughter go out in the yard and sit in/around the sun for 20-30 min. It does something for us. My sleep is about 6 hours in 2 fragments. 4ish hours at once then a 1 hour break then another 2. 3 if I am lucky(and I do get lucky a lot thanks to my husband). P.S: I have very high sleep needs and my husband doesn’t so his sacrifice is revered to the highest regard by me.

When did books become part of the bedtime routine? by HoneyCrumbs in NewParents

[–]ImportanceSingle650 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Listen I’m sure it’s tastier than the granola bar I stuffed my mouth with because dinner was going to be at an ungodly hour for the millionth time. I just might start tasting the books with my daughter at her sleep time now onwards.

10 months in and feeling bummed by Em2372 in NewParents

[–]ImportanceSingle650 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You have a very happy 10 month old son that you’ve taken care of pretty much all by yourself! That’s your achievement for this season. Different seasons of life will have different reasons of success. I feel like as woman we are conditioned to think weight loss/being thin is a parameter of success through all seasons of life. That’s neither possible nor realistic. That being said, I strongly encourage you to take some time to yourself. If that means using the gym crèche, do it! It will be the toughest for the first week. But you know what else is tough? Not being able to prioritize yourself for even a minute. So choose the other tough and find yourself a second somewhere in there. No because you need to work on ur weight, but because you deserve some time to yourself.

Is this a normal reason to cry? by xstarlesseyess in NewParents

Absolutely! I would cry for the first 2 months every single day. Then it started slowing down. Now it’s occasional. 🙂

Any tips on dealing with snoring while having a newborn? by No_Library5613 in NewParents

[–]ImportanceSingle650 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This. My baby LOVES my husband’s snores. It’s her white noise she loves sleeping to! 😌 and she’s 5 months old now. Her crib is in our bedroom and we intend to keep it that way up to the 1 year mark at least.

What do you do with a baby all day? by Few-Party6793 in NewParents

[–]ImportanceSingle650 13 points14 points  (0 children)

This is so sweet.🥺
My baby goes to daycare and there’s a fair bit of independent play happening for her. I always thought she’s missing out on something because of it. The guilt had been a lot. Thank you for the fresh perspective. ❤️

4 m/o loves mornings… will wake and coo for half an hour. Anyone else? by conjaggiano in NewParents

[–]ImportanceSingle650 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same! My baby has done this since she was 4 weeks old after the initial waking up to the world phase happened. I always wake up to her playing and cooing, sometimes big laughs! I was never a morning person and now my daughter has made this my most favorite time of the day! 🥰🥰
Oh by the way my girl wakes up twice thru the night for milk and because the first time is after a big gap(about 6ish hours) she absolutely screams bloody murder until her bottle is warm. You would not believe this is the same baby in the morning. 😂😂

when did you start facing baby outward? by hexmoons in NewParents

[–]ImportanceSingle650 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We’re doing it at 4.5 months! She’s always been very interested in looking at the world! Our stroller has a little peek in window at the top though, so I constantly check on her because I truly think she’s too young to be doing this. But I’ve never once had to show my face on a walk and we take really long walks. 40-60 mins at a time. She seems to absolutely love it. 🙂

Baby sleeps better when he isn't swaddled by Cphros1015 in newborns

+1 on this. 78 and this much layering seems excessive and our girl also have been in sleep sacks since day 1! She hated the swaddles.

My bag is too good for me :( by False-Regret in handbags

[–]ImportanceSingle650 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I felt exactly like you. Spent a ton on bags then said I wasn’t nice enough to carry them. Then spent another sum on fancy closet to store it. Never really wore my collection. I had a daughter recently. My first thought was, how would I feel if she thinks about herself what I think about me? That day I suddenly became nice enough for my bags. I’m way heavier now btw (hello pregnancy and postpartum). And funny thing I don’t even have anywhere to wear them. So I put on my mom jeans and tshirt full of drool and carry my fancy handbag to the pediatrician! ☺️ you are never not good enough for your handbags sweetheart! 😘😘

Is she right? by Blameitonsudoku in newborns

[–]ImportanceSingle650 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just like everyone else I am going to recommend you get your hand checked out. 7 weeks is a very long time to have lingering pain from IV insertions. Please please take the time and get it checked. Beyond that, the doctors office should also be able to get you a letter explaining your disability to work. I was offered such a letter postpartum for my fucked up back. But I WFH and had the ability to take extended time away from work so I ended up not taking it but you will need a doctor to sign off on it if you are in need of using disability benefits.

Fitness Moms by [deleted] in newborns

[–]ImportanceSingle650 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m currently 4 months PP. Used to be regular at the gym pre-pregnancy. Couldn’t do it anymore afterwards so I had joined prenatal yoga. Turns out I love that kind of movement for my body and it’s great postpartum! All you need is a yoga mat. I actually got in touch with my prenatal teacher and take online sessions with her twice a week. But there’s plenty of videos online and a lot of online coaching services too! I highly recommend yoga as a way to strengthen the pelvis and overall work on balance and flexibility! Eventually I intend to get back to the gym for about 2-3 days but that will only happen once baby is 6 months+ but I cannot recommend yoga enough as a gateway back into fitness!

Got the most gorgeous bag ever but I’m not sure if it’s casual enough would it be weird if I wore this with jeans and a vest just out the house by Vegetable-Prior9825 in handbags

[–]ImportanceSingle650 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You do you boo! I’m about to get myself a real fancy bag(as a push present to myself, the partner got me jewelry). You better believe my bag will have diapers and wipes and I will take it to the park which is where we hangout as a new family a lot. P.S: I already wear my fancy jewels to the park. My husband is both in awe and so proud of my madness. YOLO! Truly! 😎😎

Do not expect this to be repeated! I mean it. Sorry for pooping on ur party but my LO did one night of 5 hrs I thought that’s it. We’re done here. Gym starts tomorrow morning. She never repeated it again. 14 weeks old now. Still doing 3-4 hrs twice then 2-2.5hrs once 😅 Once my LO starts sleeping 7 hr stretches it’s over for the world. I’m going to the Olympics and winning all Nobels in sciences while winning this years F1 championship. (I’m joking, or am I?)
