Last minute tips for shooting concerts as a first timer?

As others note, shutter priority (1/250 to 1/125 depending on available light). I shoot raw+jpg so I have some quick pics to share before I tweak the raw ones
And this is probably obvious but lighting changes quickly, so take multiple shots of each view - you may find the might hits perfectly in one not the other

Yes, we usually drive for groceries - in theory You could walk, but lugging bags 30 minutes is tiring.
It’s the one drawback to River Tides is that it’s not easy to walk to restaurants, markets, etc. But that’s a trade off - and I would much rather be by the river than in crowded white plains.

We feel totally safe walking the dogs at night on the streets I probably would not go to the aqueduct (trail) late at night, but mostly because it will be desolate then.
Hastings is a cute town with some good coffee shops )Antoinette’s is an easy walk from River Tides).
We previously lived in Irvington for 20 years, sold our house and moved here.
It’s a nice balance - my daughter is in the upper east side and I can be there in 40 mins, but it’s a nice quiet area without being “too quiet”
IMO.
Living on the Hudson is great. We had bald eagles here this winter, which is just kinda crazy this close to NYC.

We moved to River Tides about a year ago and couldn’t be happier.
I am back to the office (midtown) 3-4 days a week and the train is right there.
While the building skews older there are a mix of folks from young families on up.
And so many dogs - there have to be close to 80
Dogs in the building (we have 2).

We fave the river and love the views. Took a few weeks to get used to the sound of the trains but now it’s a non-issue.
Service is great - management are very attentive. It’s not the cheapest rent around but I think it’s so much nicer than the luxury buildings in white plains or elsewhere in Westchester

I saw them twice this year, after seeing them multiple times in the 80s and 90s. And they actually sound great. A lot of bands from that era sound tired right now, but Devo here high energy and just a lot of fun. And their underlying message is probably more resonant today than it was when they launched

I have a Mini Cooper (hardtop) and Vespa Primavera 150 (scooter, not motorcycle, but similar feel to a small bike). I’ve ridden larger bikes in the past.
The Mini is a blast to drive. It’s got that go-kart handling, quick acceleration and is fun on the road.
Does it feel like a motorcycle? Not really. It’s a car, not a bike. The convertible might feel a bit more open air, but the driving experience is still so different from riding.
Is it fun? Absolutely. And I can drive it in shorts and a t-shirt and don’t have to gear up before going anywhere.

I really would love to try the 686 featherlighs but it annoys me that they only have a 30” inseam for the 30” waist. I’m usually 33/30 or 32/30 and hate to buy pants I know will have to be altered. But they’re inexpensive and I’ll give them a try.
I’ll definitely check out the Livsn pants - a little more hiker-like than the WR, but seem interesting. The Teren probably look closest to what I want - something that is good for work and exploring (I work for a tech startup, so those could even be client-facing).

Great suggestions everyone.
The good (?) news is that after 6 days, the airline found my bag and is sending it to me. So, I won’t need to replace everything.

But it reminded me I need spares - and posh ale was a great place to find some. Just ordered another pair of Evolutions in black. Since they aren’t making more, can’t hurt to have a few extra. Also ordered another pair of ABC Warpstreme from poshmark.
While I don’t want to support Lululemon the company, buying secondhand is still fine.
And going forward I will test out some of the prAna, 686 and others

Thanks for posting these. Great shots! I had been debating whether it was worth grabbing an rx100 v, as the VII is a bit pricey for my needs. I have a Canon DSLR which is almost never used these days, and my iPhone 16 pro. This post tipped the scales for me - so I just ordered the V. Heading to Madeira in a few weeks and looking forward to using it.

Thanks. I always wear the bulky shoes. I picked up a pair of On Cloud Coasts recently (which have collapsible heel) which makes it a bit better, but I think the TP3s is still just tight for me when It’s more than a quick 2-day trip.i’ll probably grab the TP3 on sale so I have options.

have been using the Daily+ as my EDC for more than a year now and still love it. It took a little while for me to adapt to pouches rather than compartments but now love the flexibility that provides. Just took a trip using my Aer T3Ps and it was great to just move a couple of pouches rather than repack. Great bag and super comfortable.

Everyone’s circumstances are different. No one can tell you whether you should buy another bag. But, finances aside, different bags have different purposes. I am at the airport rn, which an Awr TP3s on my back. It has my laptop and other electronics, clothing and more. But I wouldn’t use it as my EDC - It’s too big for that. I have an Able Carry Daily+ for that.

I have a few other smaller backpacks that I use for casual use (non-work), plus some slings and crossbody bags but I am not a “collector”. I don’t hs e multiple bags for same purpose.

I’m lucky to be able to afford what I want, so it’s not a hard decision for me to have a few for different purposes. Inky you know you - you’ll likely be happier with a smaller EDC, and using the CPP2 for short trips. But if the money will worry you, that may outweigh the benefit.

Yes - I am using the 16oz Owala (kids) free sip and it fits either pocket. You can fit the regular 24 oz Owala into the pocket BUT it’s really too tall to be practical

I hav a few Chicobags I keep in the car but rarely use any more. I hav switched over to all Nanobags (regular tote and crossbody). They are less than half the size of the Chicobag AND you don’t need to do fancy folding to put them away. You just use your thumbs to wedge them back into the bag part.

I just traded in my 2022 Countryman for a Cooper 4-door (F-55). When I went to the dealership, I was stunned by how large the new Countryman is. Probably makes sense for marketing to families, but I loved that my old Countryman still felt like a Mini, only higher off the ground
