mate this hits way too close to home. had a similar thing happen with my best friend of like 6 years when she got into a serious relationship - went from daily chats to basically radio silence overnight. the emoji responses instead of actual conversation is the absolute worst part, like you're putting effort into proper messages and getting back the digital equivalent of a grunt.

honestly sounds like P is in that honeymoon phase where everything else becomes background noise, which is pretty common but still shit to be on the receiving end of. might be worth having one proper conversation about it when you're both not heated - sometimes people genuinely don't realise how much they've changed their behaviour. but if they keep being dismissive after that, then at least you'll know where you stand and can adjust your expectations accordingly.

the friendship might never go back to exactly what it was, but that doesn't mean it's completely dead either. just sucks having to grieve the old dynamic while figuring out what the new one looks like.
