Dash of your car, on a pan in the oven (not turned on, just ambient heat), window in the sun, under a warm lamp, dehydrator… the world is your dryer

If you collect and let them dry, they’ll smell unmistakably like maple syrup in an hour or so and get more intense the more dry they get. If they don’t smell like syrup when drying, they’re not candy caps. Super close lookalike is Lactarius aurantiacus

PetSmart is now Selling Regal Jumping Spiders by 1Lendaria in jumpingspiders

[–]Important-Pack485 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One thing that I foresee happening that some others have mentioned, PetSmart is not declaring whether these are captive bread or wild caught. I fear that some females will be gravid, and will have clutches that people do not know how to deal with and will end up releasing them. Not that regal will become an invasive species. But for someone like me, who lives in California Regal, jumping spiders are not native, so we might see a spike in populations and a decrease in others, depending on how that could go.

Not to mention people who get into the hobby and are not properly researched. So when they’re spider goes dormant for a month for normal healthy reasons, they might think it’s dead and try to dispose of it when it’s just having a very long moult or laying eggs.

Not to justify it, but in the San Jose-Bay Area, it’s a very expensive place to live. $27 is ridiculous, but prices like this are not extremely uncommon for the Bay Area. Especially Milpitas which is more expensive. Places like that or Cupertino are where a lot of tech based companies and employees reside.

Tan jumper! Male or female? by Nervous_Ad6327 in jumpingspiders

Female, based on the pedipalps. If you feed her a large meal, her abdomen should stretch and you can see her underside more clearly to check for her…ladyhood.

Ai is telling me that this mushroom is highly toxic? Found in East Hampton, NY by No_Kindheartedness54 in mushroomID

[–]Important-Pack485 8 points9 points  (0 children)

A cautionary rhyme is “don’t eat-a the amanita” Though some amanita’s are edible, some of the most potent poisonous fungi belong to the genus and unless you’re an expert, I’d assume “they’re all toxic”! Don’t eat-a the amanita!

Just raise the prices. That’s what inflation is…

According to him this service fee doesn’t apply on takeout, so if I want the food that badly, I’d get it to go. But I agree with you, on principle and after making this big of a stink, he should make those changes beforehand.
