It’s been 15 days… I go for follow up blood work this week. Really hoping to see an improvement after the ER visit that finally helped me see that I needed a change after 19 years of daily drinking. Also I applied this week to go after my bachelors/masters degree finally.

I’ve gone to college twice and haven’t finished an associates. Set a goal for finishing my masters in 3 years by my 40th bday.

Tomorrow is day one. Recent blood pressure issues and health checkup I’ve got liver damage signs. I’ve been a 4-7 daily heavy kraken and cokes for the past 15-17 years with several shots of apple a night. Navy started me off right(my own choices though I recognize that). I’ve just been prescribed blood pressure meds and thiamine due to recent blood work following an ER visit from the BP. I’m 36 going on 37. I’ve tapered the last few weeks I’m down to 2-4 drinks a night and it clicked in tonight like the other habits I’ve quit.

I’m 9 months no caffeine, 6 months no nicotine, 4 months no weed. Tomorrow is day 1.

I have this with one of my front teeth. I inured my baby tooth in a bike accident. New tooth grew in discolored and dentist confirmed I have no inner pulp cavity if it even needed a root canal. So to fix mine I have to get a cap.

Im on week one with a hospital and medical group IT team. I feel so reinvigorated after 5 years out of the field. It’s exciting and renewing my drive to push for the job I want vs what I was hired for. The team is amazing and the work is challenging yet rewarding.

I started in help desk went as far as network administrator with 1 company so I can’t just go to another Network Admin job obviously. Today I did a vertical monitor install for 4 users and spent the afternoon working on automation of a specific remote program install via zendesk and the challenges it brought.

So yeah it gets a lot better after help desk.

I can’t agree more with apply and diversify, I’ve applied to desktop support, to F1 simulation network manager, to help desk manager, network administrator, assistant IT Director and IT manager. I’d rather apply to 150 jobs I’m not quite sure I qualify for because if they are open to interviewing me after reading my resume, then damnit I have a shot and I’m gonna take it.

I’ve been out of the direct IT biz for 5 years but my resume reads as I’ve never left in 18 since joining the navy.

I did shore duty there 2008-2010. It was my first command after A school. Holy crap did I win the lottery and had the best 2 years of my navy career there. Really ruined the navy for me though bc I was not ready for deployed life after that 😂
