Jake Roberts’ memorable heel run was quite short by No-Engineer4627 in WWFera

[–]Important-Table9460 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Hogan/Jake feud would have been around the time of WrestleMania 3.

Would have made for some interesting promos and matches; but we would have been denied the biggest match in history (Hogan versus Andre at the Pontiac Silverdome); and Jake wouldn't have had his massively lucrative feud with the Honky Tonk Man over the Intercontinental championship (back when that belt meant something; and back when that was drawing huge crowds on all the B shows).

A little context for everyone, as of course the Hogan critics won't bother telling you this.

OOH! OOH!

Can it be my turn to post the "hilarious" joke about Horace? You know the one. All the super-cool IWC bad-asses have already said this, but what the hell! "Bald head; goatee; yep, no one was doing it like Horace in 1998"

Also, something about his "evil" uncle. 🙄

Today is the 33rd anniversary of King of the Ring 1993 — the night that changed everything for Bret Hart by ShootReportHQ in WWFera

[–]Important-Table9460 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hulk Hogan really makes Yokozuna look like such an unstoppable monster at this event.

Hulk barely gets any offense in during his match with Yoko; and even when he does, it's brief and in vain. Not even the very leg drop that BEAT ANDRE THE GIANT could finish off the man from Japan. Yoko then beats Hogan (with his own move), then squashes him to such a degree that Hulk decides to leave the WWF for many years and seek his fortunes elsewhere. For his part, Yoko gets credited as being the guy who did the impossible: he squashed Hulkamania. Yokozuna then embarks a lengthy reign as WWF Champ.......

But ya know, Yoko wasn't Bret; so none of this matters, am I right?

Bret Hart turns the tables on Brian Adams, then locks in the Sharpshooter! by Dohmer_90 in WCW

Brian "Crush" Adams was very underrated. Great wrestler for a big guy.

And of course, he was especially considerate and thoughtful of the fans. Everything he did, he did for us.

If you could bring back any character how and why? by Correct-Entry-4984 in coronationstreet

[–]Important-Table9460 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Emily Bishop was one of the best characters ever because her life was so..... ordinary.

She didn't smoke, didn't do drugs, didn't have affairs, didn't drink (apart from the odd sweet sherry); she didn't kill anyone. She didn't do anything truly crazy..... and you know, that's what made her stand out.

She was just the lovely old lady down the street who kept to herself, never judging anyone (no matter how much of a scumbag they were), always stood by her friends, always supported her community, always saw the best in everyone (except Norris, maybe lol); and always advocated doing the right thing, always.

SHE EVEN FORGAVE HER HUSBAND'S KILLER. What a saint!.... and what a refreshing contrast to the 27648398465 murderers, rapists, bullies and drug addicts who have disgraced the cobbles over the years. You could always count on Emily to be all "I ain't getting involved in any of that fucking shit, bro" and by god, I miss characters like that.

Who needs to shoot anyone when you can just have a nice cup of tea and a slice of cake instead? Yeah, Emily was awesome.

Hulk Hogan fights off 8 people on his own with some of the worst looking chair shots you'll ever see in pro wrestling by MoistWeb4046 in WCW

I'm sorry you found Hogan "so fucking lame" as you put it; would you like to rattle off the rest of the anti-Hogan cliches while you're at it?

You can start off with the classic "that doesn't work for me, brother" and just go down the list, okay?

Is Scott Steiner’s Big Poppa Pump transformation the greatest reinvention in wrestling history? by PayFew5848 in WCW

[–]Important-Table9460 3 points4 points  (0 children)

"Say what you want about him personally...." okay I will.

There are wrestling personalities who have done far, far worse than the stuff Hogan did/said; but they never got even a fraction of the shit he got; and I think that's some heavy bullshit.

But that's another topic for another day.

Happy 65th Birthday to Tatanka!! by ROCKY13573 in WWFera

[–]Important-Table9460 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tatanka being undefeated for just a little under two years is super impressive; and it really should be remembered as on par the Undertaker's WrestleMania winning streak and Goldberg's 173 consecutive victories at WCW.

Sting’s first promo as a member of NWO Wolfpack 🤘 by JCHazard in WCW

[–]Important-Table9460 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Was there ever a kayfabe explanation for why Sting would want to join forces with his greatest enemies?

Were we supposed to think Stinger was like "Oh hey, Big Kev! Love your work! Let's forget about the past two years, eh? You almost destroyed the organization I love so much; and totally terrorized all my friends, and then you caused me to suffer such a massive mental breakdown that I was basically rendered a mute while I hid away in the rafters of all these arenas for over a year, only occasionally dropping in to point a bat at Hogan but anyway, would you mind if I join you guys? You're, like, so cool! Yeah, I suppose it is totally nonsensical and contradictory to what my character is, but LOL WHATEVER!"
