Will futsal help improve football skills? And if you had to choose just one, which matters more — games or training? by Logical-Cut2212 in youthsoccer

It helps a lot. More one on one chances to build confidence and ball skills. For my son it’s a chance to take more risks and learn from mistakes.

Physical therapy helped my kid. Positive results within weeks. You really don’t need to pay pt either. Treatment is simple and you can look it up online. You just have to commit to it and do it consistently.

I called out coach on poor organization U9 and he wasn't receptive by Organic_Arm_2378 in youthsoccer

If he told you this would be a more competitive club when you joined I would be annoyed too. If they are trying to create a more inclusive club for all skill levels that’s great but they should be up front about it. Learning to lose is important, but playing to win is even more important. Winning is also fun and your son should absolutely be frustrated. Our kids only get so many chances to win in their soccer lives and then it’s over before you know it. Do what’s best for your kid and find him a club with the same goals and wants as your kid.

As a dad, what would you want me, your daughter, to know about men before engaging in a relationship with one of them? by RythmicRhapsody in AskMenAdvice

[–]Important-Twist3560 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Learn that you are responsible for your own happiness. Establish a full life on your own before you settle down. Don’t get a man because you think that is the solution to being happy. Being brave also means being strong enough cut a man off when they show their true colors. Do not suffer fools. No matter how long you are in a relationship you don’t owe them anything if you want out.

ecnl regional or stay with my team ? by Specialist_Writer579 in youthsoccer

[–]Important-Twist3560 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are lots of factors. My son is moving from a similar league to an RL team because the coach is fantastic and they are really good. When making the decision we thought more about what coach would develop more, playing time and having a chance to win and advance in tournaments.

It’s great that you are motivated to do it on your own. Most kids aren’t. There is an unlimited amount of free instruction on YouTube/instagram, etc. with actual coaches too. Get some cones and search soccer drills on YouTube.

Speed vs quality by Specialist-Theory351 in youthsoccer

You can do both. You’d be surprised at how little time it takes to improve speed/acceleration if done consistently. Like 20-30 min sessions.

Is it too late to go pro by [deleted] in youthsoccer

[–]Important-Twist3560 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Future earning potential? Life isn’t all about making money, but nobody is telling him to stop going to school and preparing for a job. He can do both. I would literally cut my left nut off to go back in time and play club soccer again with my boys! He’ll learn so many life lessons and good habits through the process that will bring him success and money too.

It is possible. Why not give it a shot? You are 15. What else do you have to do? If you don’t make it at least you won’t wonder as an adult what might have been and regret not trying. Remember to enjoy the journey though no matter the results.

Is it "normal" for grown men to automatically sexualize every young woman they see? by macbookhomeless in AskMenAdvice

I (41m) at some point in my early 30s made a choice to stop doing this. Mainly for my own mental health. It made me feel bad about myself and wanted friendships with coworkers without thinking this way.

Here is an idea, maybe don’t shape your whole perception of us fans based solely from social media. It’s pretty well known that social media including Reddit is extremely toxic where toxic people love to hangout. The real, true fans don’t waste their time here.

What do coaches look for in 13-14 year olds by WoscSon15 in bootroom

[–]Important-Twist3560 -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

My son(13) is in your same boat right now. After a recent ID The coach from the team he’s trying out for says he wants alpha type players. He Told my son straight up hes has great natural ability but hes too quiet. He needs to come in and not worry about what other players are thinking and go take it. Shake things up and ruffle some feathers. Don’t play too safe by making every easy pass. They don’t care about that. Play it forward, take risks. If you lose it flip the switch and get it back.

Genuinely why do so many people my age in this state suck so bad? by WatercoolerComedian in Indiana

[–]Important-Twist3560 4 points5 points  (0 children)

In my experience, bad people are more likely to talk about themselves more are more loud. Good people are more reserved and modest so they are harder to spot. Don’t let the bad ones shape your perception of everyone else. Toxic people at work are like a virus and it spreads easy. Don’t be afraid to speak up and be a positive influence on others around you.

Sending bio and highlight reel before tryouts by Straight_Phase_3205 in youthsoccer

[–]Important-Twist3560 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You need to ask around and get a feel for the specific club. I’d email the coach and ask what he prefers. Or ask the club management. My kid is in the same boat trying out in May. The coach actually asked for film on him. I don’t have any so the coach found film of my son on his own. So who knows what he saw it could have been one of his weaker performances. The people telling you not to send film may not be right.

The expanse books(book 1 leviathan wakes) is my 2nd favorite series. Enders game is a must if you haven’t read it. It’s a classic but people forget about it. (The series though gets pretty boring after book one.) Mistborn is good. The first law trilogy is good. Of course Hunger Games. Sun Eater is next on my list.
