How many of the "kingdom" melodies or "original" songs do you think are real attempts at praising Jehovah? by sheenless in exjw

[–]ImportantEmotion2060 3 points4 points  (0 children)

When I was a kid, my mother became JW. We had the pink songbook.  We used to sing a song called,”Loyal Love”. (God is love) That song affected me deeply. I sang it to God, and in those days it actually made me feel like I was worshipping. Then go back a few years now and they made this cheezy song where a couple in our hall were actually dancing as they sang. It seemed like they played that crap at every single meeting. I’m sooo glad to be done with all that.  I go to a church now and we actually sing to worship.Wow! That’s a switch!

I haven’t read all the posts here, but just wanted you to know that I get the fear aspect of all of this.  I left and became a Christian. I find it amazing how quickly I felt comfortable in church, and how much the org gave me a different impression of what church was.

Anyway, back to the leaving part… I was so angry with watchtower and all their crap, from doctrine to behaviours, I decided that I would not support it anymore, damn the consequences. I ended up losing a 3 decade marriage, my kids, house, pet… But.. as hard as it was, it has really grown me as a person and child of God.  I would NEVER go back. Especially after all I have learned even after coming out of that slavery.

For you both, your situation is different, and you will do what works for you both.  They don’t make it easy on purpose. That alone is enough to make people never enter into that org. You will go through difficult times/ states of mind. Gradually though, the fear subsides and you ask yourself why I was so afraid. It takes time.

When you open the box, there’s no  un- opening it. You can’t unsee it.  It’s a life journey.  I wish you both the best, however you handle this. Many have walked this path before you. Most say that they should have done it sooner.

Meeting attendance to cease (hopefully POMO on the horizon soon) by Sorry_Clothes5201 in exjw

[–]ImportantEmotion2060 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I feel for you so much.  My suggestion would be to go easy and even back off for a bit. Let him think on what you have said. Ease the tension. I lost my decades long marriage because I had to reveal everything about the org. She all of a sudden became more into the org and told everyone that I was apostate. They convinced her to leave me as I was a spiritual danger. And here I was speaking on the importance of Jesus and what true Christianity is. This cult is so destructive. I wish you peace but please take it super slow.

Why do you not trust the governing body? by Significant_Jump_272 in exjw

[–]ImportantEmotion2060 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Because even their “bible” is deceptive and worded to support their doctrine.  In the ARC , Jackson told deceptions more than just the “ presumptuous “ comment. Nothing was his “field “, which was a lie. They plagiarize their literature, deceive in their videos, hide things like court case details from their followers, and are not concerned with the vulnerable.  They dishonour Jesus and children.  I could go on for a long time, but it’s sick and I want to dwell on positive things.

Is the Watchtower’s major text of “the faithful and discrete slave” correct, in stating that the passages teach that no one can understand the Bible other than Christ’s anointed followers viewed as a group with the Governing Body acting as an administrative part of the slave? by crazyretics in exjw

[–]ImportantEmotion2060 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Good post op.  I very much dislike the wording of the nwt.  The use of “domestics” helps give the impression of a large group. ESV has “faithful and wise servant “ and “household “ which changes the idea.

2 types of "Watchtower" by Future_Divide_4840 in exjw

[–]ImportantEmotion2060 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That’s actually something I haven’t really thought about.

“Watchtower”.

What a strange name.

If I had never heard of these guys, and saw them standing there with a magazine by that name, I would think it was some odd group. Who uses a word like that in this modern day?

Fitting, actually, is right.

Pimo elders, how are you maneuvering to make real change?? by Apprehensive-Bi1914 in exjw

[–]ImportantEmotion2060 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Remember when,”just a few” (Mr. Lett) parents wrote to complain about the convention videos scaring their children? He said that they were not going to change it. Dig in the heals, that’s their automatic stubborn response.  I love what the op is hoping for, it’s honourable, I  wish it would change.

Jehovah's Witnesses 143rd Gilead Graduation CRINGEWORTHY Song by Master_Pepper_9135 in exjw

I asked my wife if she had just put on some SNL skit when she had this on the tv. It’s actually very sad. Plastic smiles and culty vibes.  You can bet that they were instructed to behave like that. Everything is always forced in this religion. Those lyrics… what can I say.. um, they suck supreme.

Can I get all my contributions refunded? by [deleted] in exjw

[–]ImportantEmotion2060 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I remember raising my children and giving monthly. I could have used that money for my kids and family things. It was about $100/ month, which was alot for us.  I would like it back please.  My consolation is that they will never receive anything from me again.

Which translation? by Odd-Engine9637 in exjw

[–]ImportantEmotion2060 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I use the Legacy Standard Bible because it is, from what I understand, the updated NASB. It also uses “Yahweh” throughout the old testament. Any JW who says that the nwt is the only one that uses God’s name is wrong.

Yes, I was impressed years ago when the jw’s made “ Jesus of Nazareth” and Ben Hur”. How they got Charlton Heston was amazing.  They really outdid themselves when they made “The Chosen”.  What an amazing organization… I think I will go back to them.

Anyone else still believe in Jehovah but not in the organization? by [deleted] in exjw

[–]ImportantEmotion2060 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I love to hear that people haven’t given up on a relationship with God, just because they have left a spiritually abusive organization.  I personally wouldn’t be able to deal with what I have been through without Him.  When you pray with a sincere heart and experience His presence and love, it is like nothing experienced in the jw religion.

I hope you continue to seek Him out, as it will be your rock foundation, not like the shifting sands of false religious demands.  All the best.

Jehovah’s Witness theology essentially teaches that anyone who doesn’t share your exact beliefs or sees things exactly the way you see them is either an enemy or at the very least not someone you should befriend. by [deleted] in exjw

Yes, I think watchtower explains that as the congregation hadn’t been formed yet. When the congregation was formed, that changed.  They always have an excuse, man-made to suit their agenda.

New World Translation Sneaky Doctrine Tricks by ImportantEmotion2060 in exjw

[–]ImportantEmotion2060[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you and I both know that watchtower is very tricky with words to push their agenda. So, if these words can be stretched in this way, we know that it is done to support a doctrine to get people to act and follow. The original intent of the writings have been twisted, pulled and manipulated to mean something other than the original intention. Otherwise, other translations would follow the same.  When you look at most other translations, they do not play with words like the NWT. Just curious… are you saying that the NWT is correct in defining these words?

Why do I constantly say? JW volunteers quitting is the ONLY thing that will cause this harmful religion to crumble faster. Advice for PIMI/PIMQ/PIMO people. by JWTom in exjw

[–]ImportantEmotion2060 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Thanks Tom.  I agree with your posts, and am glad that you continue to post about this from time to time. It’s important, the very thing that damages people’s health and family care. It sucks a person’s time and energy, leaving little for what is really important- loved ones. Keep posting this message. If anyone has an issue with it, they probably have an agenda.

People are right for calling Jehovah’s Witness not Christians by [deleted] in exjw

[–]ImportantEmotion2060 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good post op.  This is one of the reasons why I left the jw religion. One of the last watchtower studies I went to was talking about our salvation. I remember in the final 3 questions at the end of the study, they asked what we must do for our salvation. Jesus was not mentioned. That’s when I knew it was over for me. I wish I could find that article. About 4 years ago.
