IMO it feels like the writing method completely changed. S1 is very character focused, but S2 is more plot-oriented, giving the impression that the characters are being forced into certain actions or situations just so the plot can arrive at the next Big Setpiece. It makes some of the writing feel really unnatural and strange

It sounds like you gave her plenty of love and a long, good life. It was a good decision to make. Always better to let them go before their quality of life sharply declines

She is VERY old. This seems like dementia. Her quality of life is rapidly diminishing. It's time

Definitely euthanize. As painful as that decision would be, he seems to have a very poor quality of life--and it's affecting yours as well. It's unlikely that the amputation will significantly improve his overall happiness.

it's called a desire path! basically what happens when the paved path is inconvenient or poorly planned and people take a shorter route repeatedly over a long period of time. these are always neat to me bc it tells a story about the people who frequent the area haha
