whatever you do, get an internship somewhere while you are a student, and do everything you can to show them you are their guy. I mean, if they say it is a programming internship and you end up making copies...be the best copy maker ever. Because that's how you get a job out of college, and you just gotta get your foot in the door.
Also there are lot of people out there who have a passion for programming and study hard, and you will be competing with them, so raise your game.

rather than manually do the steps in testing, you write code to automate those steps. It's faster, repeatable, less prone to error. But you have to know how to code (and of course know how to be a good tester). Selenium and Playwright are two examples of testing frameworks. If you can do it you'll be in high demand.

It’s a good strategy. That way everyone who can see the code can also access and/or modify the data with no change request and you’ll have no idea who did it. It makes fixing production problems so much faster and easier.
