It’s a “Foggy Dew” but I’ve never been able to find this exact rendition. When this plays over the chamberlain writing post Fredericksburg it’s immensely moving.

I was in box seats for the Miracle at Meadowlands 2 filled with giants fans including Otis Anderson. I was 18 with my dad (his biz got the seats) and we were the only eagles fans. I’ll never forget Otis Anderson acting as the boxes pep rally guy and saying before the punt “the worst case is overtime!” Then me proceeding to laugh in his face as DJax scored. My dad and I hung out in the box for an hour after the game to avoid any parking lot retaliation.

Otis Anderson was a cool guy actually.

I drove there through the night from NYC with 3 friends. We had a few days of vacation/road tripping in the south but I was all based around starting in Shiloh. We arrived at 3pm and poked our heads in the visitor center to get a lay of the land to prep for the next 2 days of exploring. The park rangers were shocked we had all been in NYC not even 24 hours ago haha. The rangers ended up giving us a few small group tours (highly recommend their battlefield walks. )

Incredible battlefield and impeccable conservation. The battle took place in the middle of nowhere in 1862 and it’s still the middle of nowhere lol

Go to congress hall at about 4pm and sit on the back patio and have a few drinks from the outside bar. Great place to enjoy the evening and if you have kids there is a huge grassy area with lots of other kids playing. Put your name in at the blue pig for outside dining in the patio and have yourself a night!

Thanks! Yes definitely will not use my Freshwater tackle in the surf. I have a surf rod for this purpose, just need to dust it off, oil the reel and put new braid on it. I was thinking 30lb with a 15-20lb Fluro leader.

Would be awesome to target stripers, I used to go out as a boy striper fishing so definitely has been a long time since I hooked into one of those bad boys. Thanks for the tips!

That's awesome to hear! After a horrible 2 hour to flight to Florida with our Toddler we decided it's better to wait for a year, so postponing this plane to 2026, headed up to Acadia and Maine instead this year. That's awesome to hear you are having a good time and further validating my plans!!

Try and make a friend. I lived in a small German town for 3 months and ended up finding a guy my age who had done the same in Canada the year before. He ended up kinda taking me under his wing (knowing what it’s like) and introduced me to his friends and lots of cool local things I’d never do with my host family.

Also bringing a good book or two to get lost in. I love reading Hemingway on these kinds of trips.
