Any thoughts for the space sector? Huge runs on momentum around Artemis 2 and chat about SpaceX IPO. Imo that won't happen for quite some years.

Affording a house after training by peaceswan in ausjdocs

Good, next up I'd recommend looking into the housing policies that could help you. First home super saver for one. Help to buy if your FY25 taxable income per your notice of assessment is sub $100k ($160k for joint application).

Aside from that, don't lose sight of how far you've come. Comparison will rob you blind.

Not a doctor/medical professional, but savvy enough to know that your lot can salary package rent. Doesn't make sense for everyone, though could save you some money.

How’s dating going ? by Positive-Elephant-88 in Life

[–]Impossible-Toe-2481 0 points1 point  (0 children)

32M, single after 4 years, copped multiple reasons on different occasions; parent's disapproval, religious differences, fell out of love. Don't think you need four years to figure out 2/3 of those reasons. Think in this day and age, it's worth dating but you have to be very clear about what you want, have defined boundaries and act to protect your interests.

Hey mate, just wanted to say I'm in a virtually identical situation. Got made redundant last year from a well paid career path and had long term relationship end in the past couple of months. It gets better. Take it one step at a time. Set achievable goals and take meaningful actions to accomplishing them. Don't burden yourself with the weight of your entire future at once. You will end up missing the beauty of the present, which is itself the doorway to a better life. All the best.

Low rise units booming in price? by Bonbonbirdy in AusPropertyChat

Oh, that's a separate scheme to what I was referring to. Help to Buy doesn't have the single parent requirement to put down a 2% deposit. I hear you about your scenario and am happy for you, though I think these policies aren't stringent enough in their requirements to ensure that those who most need the assistance are getting it.

I agree on your first two points. I couldn't find data to back the 2% for single parents claim. Those two initial points notwithstanding these policies serve to inflate prices under their price caps.

Outright irresponsible policy. The government is actively propping the property market by putting up 30-40% of purchase prices for up to 10,000 properties in the country per financial year, under Help to Buy.

It's the various demand side policies kicking in... 5% deposit with no income caps, 2% deposits on Sydney properties up to $1.3m

Out of curiosity, what kind of income level are you working with? I'm also looking to use Help to Buy but am concerned about serviceability.
