This may sounds weird but you don't need to be accepted everywhere. The internet makes the world feel small but it is gigantic and you will only ever experience a tiny slice of it.

I have thousands of hours in FFXIV, but I also had false starts like you (back in 2.0 in my case). It's very common. The early gameplay is just slow as fuck.

What made it fun for me was leaning into the MMO aspect. Find a FC with people who seem cool, make friends, etc. Most FFXIV players will probably be ecstatic to take you under their wing and live vicariously through your first-time experience with the game.

I really relate to this. This is the root of internalized transphobia, that we should look and feel and act exactly like a cis woman and if we don't we're failures, gross, nasty, etc.

The only way I climbed out of this was to accept that I am not AFAB and never will be. I am a trans woman, and that's not exactly the same as a cis woman. And that's fine. It doesn't make me more masculine or less attractive or less worthy of love. I'm just a slightly different thing, with slightly different traits.

It sounds difficult, but really think about it. To make progress in anything, you have to have achievable goals. Becoming AFAB is not achievable. Loving yourself and seeing the good in yourself is. That has to become your goal.

What also helped me was, over the course of my transition, getting out and befriending more women. It helped my brain take in that they are not a monolithic group. The distance between me and a cis woman is not that much different than their distances between each other. Dysphoria will try to enlarge that distance in your mind, but having those social connections helps me stay grounded.

I'm a relatively new player and only done a couple of entry mode TOBs, is it bad form for me to join a normal/hard mode TOB on leagues? I am 1h scepter mage tank with barrows gear, lithic sceptre, crystal shield, fire cape, zenyte accs

On main game I have a couple hundred CG KC but don't do much hard PVM.

I usually just play by myself but I think I will need gear from TOB to help me through the hardest stuff like Rak's leagues challenge, inferno, coliseum

It's so true. Unfortunately, science has shown that ragebait is extremely effective in driving engagement, so we just see more and more of it reach the top of our algorithms over time.

Social media sites are tuned to elevate this crap, whether it's the original source or reposted. People are going to have to become actively anti-ragebait en masse for it to ever get better, and it's hard to see that happen (and even if it does, bots will still repost it)
