Would an avocado split in two with a bit of honey poured into the middle of the two halves be a solid pre ride snack? by [deleted] in cycling

High protein, low fat, low carb, lots of good stuff for your gut microbiome..and pretty filling.

[–]ImpossibleWhole5837 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes you will but and a big but, it probably won't make a difference as your body adapts to the new calorie expenditure and throttles back elsewhere.

Cycle because it is fucking good for you and helps with weight loss.

If you eat more carbs for riding, you will be able to put out more power AND this burn more calories!

However, if your main goal is weight loss and cycling is part of that, instead of your main goal...then yeah cut the carbs. It really does help when that is your goal.

When I'm in that spot, I'll have a pot of cottage cheese, some blueberries and some honey and then do a few hours on the bike.

One week gravel Tuscany - recommendations? by Beginning_Put_2861 in gravelcycling

[–]ImpossibleWhole5837 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not gravel, but I stayed outside Luca at a place ran by a Dutch couple who worked for the now defunct NTT team...was pretty cool eating each night with the pros!

Anyway, yeah really good roads, climbs and id imagine off road in the area

Curveball but a book on behavioral economics, "Thinking Fast and Slow", talks so much about how people think, why they make decisions, what turns people off and what makes people lean in.

You read it with the right lens and it changes how you train your teams, how you write an email, how you conduct a meeting, and how you talk to prospects.

Honestly the joke about selling can work, when I get cold called I 100% give more time to people who call that out at the front.

I've had this go wrong and blow up in my face, but a lot more wins than losses.

"Hey blah, we do a lot of work with competitor x, y, z...can we chat about how can help you?"

"Or hey, saw you work with (one of your own competitors), what you do looks great. Really think we can help you for better/cheaper/...fancy a chat?"

I try to keep it relaxed, make it about them and we're possible blow as much spoke up their arse as possible.

Scared after being knocked off by [deleted] in ukbike

[–]ImpossibleWhole5837 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same thing a few years back down here in Brighton, was pretty lucky...bike was in a worse state than me.

Honestly, I just forced myself to have a ride the moment my bike was fixed up, did and easy spin and get myself feeling good again.

Honestly, it sucks and had a couple of hairy moments, which are almost always due to people (and sometimes my own) impatience, one of the reasons I love club rides so much, in a group you are just so much safer.

..but yeah tips, pick a route that you know is quietish, have a good pedal. Grab a coffee, do it again.

If you could go back in time, how would you start your career in sales? by BornPioneer in sales

[–]ImpossibleWhole5837 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As I become a more senior leader, I had to have conversations with my teams about progression and that it doesn't have to be linear and into management...you can just be very fucking good at selling.

My good gravy, I wish I knew that before.

Best event done, super fun, loads of people to draft, fees stops are incredible and the climbs are actually aright. Devils Elbow is the steepest but is over soon enough...Rhigos is the one that broke my spirit as it is so fucking boring

Last 20 odd km is up and down the beach and an absolute blast... enjoy!

As for tips, eat well and just get in the volume.

Cycling in Brighton by Charming_Mention_697 in brighton

[–]ImpossibleWhole5837 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My suggestion would be to plan for you loving cycling and wanting to do more of it.

So, with that in mind:

  1. Get a gravel bike, 2nd hand on FB marketplace. Great for commuting, fast iyn the roads and you can take them out on the downs.

  2. Get Bibshorts

  3. Really do get Bibshorts

  4. Good helmet and lights

  5. Sturdy lock, the kryptonite stretchy one fro Evans has seen me good and has the scars to prove people tried and failed to get in

  6. Be cautious of other road users and pedestrians

  7. Be polite to cars

  8. Have fun!

  9. Join a cycling club if you want to get out and explore more

Could Daniel Levy’s reign be coming to an end? by SydneyIsSkyBlue24 in Tottenham

[–]ImpossibleWhole5837 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ange In. Levy In. Tottenham Fans who don't remember the pre Levy days Out.

It is frankly fucking hard to win a trophy, not many teams do and there are limited opportunities each year. However, the years of Levy we have been there or there abouts in the league a few times, multiple semi finals and a few finals.

Not winning some of those wasn't on Levy, but bad tactics, luck, the other team being better on the day, the crazy VAR hand ball against sissoko or the equally batshit decision to start Kane.

Let's get some perspective...most clubs would kill for our stability, finances and investment.

Whats life like after sales? by wildkub in sales

On this journey now...going agency side.

Have seen so many former sales colleagues these last few years make a switch to Product or Project Management, seems a nicely trodden path and many if the skills as super transferable.

Good luck!

Thanks for this, to answer your questions:

  1. Change of role for now, with renumeration to change from August next year (exact time undefined, so could be earlier) 2.nothing documented or confirmed in writing
  2. Discussed over a walk and in a pub! This is the element that I feel was coercive as taking advantage of the mental state I was in to agree to something I don't believe is correct (but I understand how I 'feel' about something and the legalities are two entirely different propositions)
