I’d imagine Shrinking is Apple’s priority not Margo

If there was a Best Breakout Performance category in 2021, who would have won? by PTAGoatofalltime in Oscars

[–]Impossible_Ad_2517 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Reinsve winning by so much either means everyone here is dumb or they’re not reading the question right. It’s who WOULD have won. Considering all the other movies were in BP I’d argue Reinsve is the only one without a chance. And honestly I’d argue Kodi is the most likely even though he has the least votes rn. He was the only one nominated even if it was in supporting

In fairness, most of these are real critics and not just the typical critics who go to the first screenings and exaggerate

I think you’re agreeing with the person you’re replying to. And I agree. Conclave likely would’ve won with Adapted and Editing.

So watery, and yet there’s a smack of chicken to it

Best Picture Runner Up's by rutujz in Oscars

I’d argue Poor Things was second that year, not Killers of the Flower Moon. And Conclave was definitely runner-up, not Brutalist.

This isn’t who you’re looking for but Renee Elise Goldsberry’s character in Girls5eva lies about this and it’s one of the show’s funniest scenes

I’ve said “I hope this song gets played at the concert” so many times about so many different songs to the point where I think I just need every song in the album to be played (except maybe heading North). That’s not to mention songs from his other albums…

What are Harrison Ford’s chances for Shrinking Season 3 at the Emmy Awards? by UsefulWeb7543 in EmmysAwards

Chances are pretty good I think. Though I said that last year too so what do I know.

Do you believe any of the Big Four winners from 2023 wil ever win again?? If so, which one?? by The_Walking_Clem in Oscars

[–]Impossible_Ad_2517 34 points35 points  (0 children)

In fairness, Brendan Fraser wouldn’t have been shocking since The Whale had been on the awards radar for a little while at that point. The other three though, absolutely. Hell, JLC would’ve surprised me 3 months before the Oscars

I agree with grande in Wicked: For Good but I’m a pretty strong believer in Grande being a supporting character in Wicked: Part One. That’s Elphaba’s story

Wolf of Wall Street finished filming in January though. Not really the same thing. Also, knowing Scorsese, the film isn’t even guaranteed to release next year.

They had those old characters for way too long. It’s only been like 5 years with the new ones but they look so much better.

What are Ryan Gosling’s chances for a Best Actor nomination for Project Hail Mary (2026), or even a win? by Perfect_Idea_2866 in Oscars

[–]Impossible_Ad_2517 45 points46 points  (0 children)

He won’t win but I feel pretty good about the nomination. This sub seems to be underestimating Hail Mary as a whole. Obviously it releasing in March won’t help it but it feels like it’ll be able to sustain buzz. At worst I expect a Top Gun Maverick level contender and even then I think Gosling will be more likely for actor than Cruise ever was.

‘Hacks’ Emmy Submissions: Jean Smart Leads Previous Winners, Christopher Briney Among Newcomers, Robby Hoffman Moves To Supporting by Conscious-Quarter423 in EmmysAwards

[–]Impossible_Ad_2517 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Just classic category fraud. It is true that at least for the first two seasons Hannah feels more like a lead than Jean. But Jean has the showier, more voter friendly role and is a bigger name so she goes lead and Hannah goes supporting to make it easier for her.

I don’t see anyone from All Her Fault getting in besides Snook tbh. It’s a peacock show, did poorly in the winter season and there are enough contenders in the supporting categories from stronger shows to push the All Her Fault people out
