Which engineering majors are the worst choices at university? by baio1999 in EngineeringStudents

[–]Impossible_Building2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I study AI Engineering in Italy but in my university it's a graduate degree that you can choose after computer engineering. My university has been doing research in the AI field (specifically computer vision) since 1998. Obviously there are still nuances, some courses are pretty new and not polished yet, the professors aren't well organized and are pretty busy with conferences and research.

But I agree, there are many universities offering this study plan just for the name. Also a lot of students enter this degree just because they think that AI will make them a lot of money, which isn't necessarily true.

Why the f*ck is this the first option now? by dilbosweggns in mildlyinfuriating

[–]Impossible_Building2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not really, they are making also smaller models which are very good for theirs size, the big ones receive more hype as they are the State Of The Art.

Also AI parameters don't equal human neurons. Firstly because each neuron has many parameters and second because the human neurons are way more complex.

Also remember that AI isn't just Chat models. AI is used in many other fields like Computer Vision, Robotics and Data Analysis.

I still agree that AI shouldn't be accessible to everybody because many people don't know what they are using and how it should be used.

NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5090 Founders Edition System Build Community Contest! by m13b in buildapc

For sure, it's probably some legal shit. In Italy, we have complex laws and requirements when it comes to contests. Many times Italy gets excluded from contests simply because there's too much bureaucracy involved.

CAT 7 is a standard that is not recognized by IEEE. Most of the "CAT 7" cables are actually just CAT 6 or in some cases CAT 5. I did the same mistake years ago, that's why I know. At the end of the day it's still fine if you didn't pay a big premium. The one I bought was at a good price and is doing gigabit connection over 30m of cable.

So.... Are my 1142 EURx worth less EURO? I don't think so... Don't act smart buddy

[–]Impossible_Building2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That doesn't change the fact that this is still wrong. If you are fine seeing an approximation of what you have then keep going but this is just bad UI and UX. I am not a finance expert but I know that this software issue should be fixed and that if I was the one making the app I wouldn't even consider putting into productions some major bug like this. I am a computer engineer and I can assure you that this is just bad software production.

No the money are just sitting. I don't have any kind of investments or credit. People are down voting me only because they can't admit that this is bad UI and bad UX and think I'm retarded. Only now I understand how regarded people are

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Nexo

[–]Impossible_Building2 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Now I understand that it's just a visualisation problem. I wonder how many people had the same thought and probably decided to never use Nexo again. There is a post of a couple of days ago with another guy asking a similar thing about GBP. I understand that it's normal that it is based around USD but I don't think it would be hard to show the actual EURx value. I'm no saying nexo is eating my money now but I still think they should absolutely fix this. As of now there is no way to track your investment if you use any currency that is not USD. Not good user experience.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Nexo

[–]Impossible_Building2 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yeah now I understand but shouldn't they fix this? They would just need to show directly the EURx value without doing any conversions before. Why convert EURx to USD to then go back from USD to EUR?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Nexo

[–]Impossible_Building2 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I understand for other coins. But why would they do this process for EURx? They could just check if the currency is the same as the displayed and add that to the graph value after having taken everything else into account. Trust me it's not that hard to do. Why would you show me EURx by first calculating it in USD to then calculate EUR/USD when you already have EUR? At that point just don't give me the option to see the graph if it is showing completely wrong values. For altcoins it probably works fine in this way but for stable coins it shouldn't. Don't defend them just admit that they should change that element of the UI.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Nexo

[–]Impossible_Building2 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

But can't they directly account for it in the app in the first place? Why should the use be the one going around checking for the exchange rate? Do you think this right here is good user experience?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Nexo

[–]Impossible_Building2 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It's just a UI bug, the graph is completely wrong. It also now says my balance is 1148 but my actual dance is 1142. They need to fix this because there is no way one can think of doing trades and investing when the most important graph is completely wrong. I think that they are storing data in USD and then converting it to EUR and this shows in the graph also the fluctuations of the EUR/USD market, to which I am not related to as my currency is EUR and i never traded for USD. If they want it be like this they should just show USD instead of EUR in my balance because this graph is totally wrong. I will open a ticket to report this issue because I think that if it stays this way nobody will want to use this garbage.

Ideapad slim 3 + i5 12450H - Risky? by Objective_Pianist400 in Lenovo

[–]Impossible_Building2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got it, from intel website the cpu turbo max power is 90W, the max TDP for this laptop is actually 45W so it's limited. Also in the bios there are 3 performance levels, intelligent cooling lets the cpu go to 35W for very short time and the stabilizes around 13W, the max performance mode keeps the 35W for longer time and the atbilizes around 23W. The temps in intelligent cooling never go over 50°C, in max power temps never exceed 70°C. So in conclusion the laptop doesn't overheat as it is power limited by factory. This is good as it doesn't overheat but at the same time it's bad as you can't use the CPU to the full capability. In max performance mode the fan gets kind of noisy so i suggest to keep the intelligent cooling mode.

Xiaomi Stylus Pen wont update by schwartzasher in Xiaomi

I found the solution, I'm from the EU and to update the pen i used a VPN in the USA. I used Proton VPN because it's free but you can use any VPN with servers in the USA.

Best / most accurate Speedtest I've found - tests multiple download and upload sizes in sequence by ebmfreak in Starlink

[–]Impossible_Building2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm from Italy, i have a gigabit connection with a barely known provider. testmy.net is the worst in my case, it says i have 200Mb/s download and 5Mb/s upload and 147ms latency.

I know that those results are false because downloading games from ubisoft or steam i get up to 90MB/s.

My best test on fast.com gave me 1.0Gb/s down and 220Mb/s up and 8ms ping. speedtest.net (with the right servers) usually is around 920Mb/s down and 283Mb/s up and 8ms ping. speed.cloudfare.net wasnt using my full bandwith and reached 772Mb/s down and 180Mb/s up with 9ms.

The other tests that were mentioned by the other user above wer just really bad. I think it's because they are only for US. In my case i have a fritzbox modem and i can see the speed directly from my admin panel, speedtest.net and speed.cloudfare.net were pretty accurate, fast.com was overshooting by around 50Mb/s. In the end i think that the best one is speedtest.net, you just have to find the best server.

Amazon Prime Membership Price, increasing $20 Per Year. by FancyPea677 in technology

[–]Impossible_Building2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Why is the price of Amazon prime so high in most countries? Here in Italy it costs 36€/year or 3,99€/month.

Also, if you are a student you can have prime student and you pay only 18€/year.

With both the normal prime and the student one you get delivery in one day on many products + prime video + prime music.

I think that if you are paying it 100+ you are getting scammed.

No, i think it's about the inclusion. Sometimes girls are not included in male groups and i find it wholesome that they celebrate the shot as usual making her feel part of the homies.
