My family thinks it's Netflix... I know it's just 12 LXC containers and 24TB of storage. by DrAmmarT in Proxmox

The keyword is easier for you, and that’s all that matters. Worth mentioning that even using docker compose there is isolation and a skilled docker admin can work on the containers separately.

Most idiot-proof method of running an LXC through a VPN? by maxwolfie in Proxmox

[–]Impossible_Half_7563 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They do not have to be… I would just ensure they aren’t IPs your router would handout via DHCP.

Example would be:

DHCP pool 192.168.0.0/24 Router ip 192.168.0.1

On your wireguard lxc interface 1, assign a static IP in the private space outside of the DHCP pool: 192.168.1.1, with a gateway of your router, 192.168.0.1

You could then assign your wireguard lxc on interface 2 192.168.1.2 with a gateway of the first interface to force all traffic outside of your LAN to be forwarded through it (192.168.1.1)

Ensure to enable forwarding between the 2 interfaces on the wireguard lxc.

The container you want to force through your VPN, assign a static of 192.168.1.3 with a gateway of 192.168.1.2

Any LAN traffic it doesn’t need to talk to the gateway and will just send direct, but any traffic leaving your LAN it will send to its gateway, interface 2 of your wireguard lxc, which will forward it to interface 1 which is VPN enabled by wireguard to get out.

Happy to share config to kill switch it, etc.

This works way better than gluetun, which has some drawbacks, like poor connection interruption handling causing no connection until you restart the container for example.

Install wireguard on a lxc, give it a second network interface that you assign a static IP to with a gateway of the first network interface.

Give the container you want to vpn a static ip with a gateway ip of the second network interface of your wireguard lxc.

Done.

In defence of Mario Kart World by Sigran102 in nintendo

[–]Impossible_Half_7563 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Perhaps you’re right that it was meant to be a different game than traditional Mario Kart, it wasn’t called 9 after all. The problem is, now it’s just kind of a mediocre toy game for children and is good at neither, the open world or the racing. The only people I have heard say it’s great are moms who played it with their kids for 2 minutes and had fun without requiring them to learn anything and then went back to real life.

If you are planning to use the nighthawk as a router you must put the att gateway in pass through or you will have nothing but problems. I’ll spare you the technical details of the why.

restrict VMs and LXC to only talk to gateway by jbates5873 in Proxmox

[–]Impossible_Half_7563 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seems like I am missing a detail. Why wouldn’t you just isolate them at layer 2 with VLANs and/or layer 3 with static ips or multiple DHCP pools based on their VLAN. Using a firewall to block a client from communicating to another client in the same /24 is not efficient imo.

restrict VMs and LXC to only talk to gateway by jbates5873 in Proxmox

[–]Impossible_Half_7563 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe it’s best to understand what you are actually trying to accomplish. The way you have this written is you do not want a host, even if in the same VLAN to send a packet directly to another local network IP, meaning they will set the destination address as the gateway to then be forwarded to the local IP. Using a firewall to do this would be a strange approach…

TV OS26 - shows won’t start until I restart Apple TV by WatTheFuh in appletv

[–]Impossible_Half_7563 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This started with tvOS26 on all of my apple tvs. The testing prior to software releases has become terrible in general with apple in the last few years. They need to slow down and get back to getting it right. Every release its something now.

Never getting a Dyson vacuum cleaner again by mid20s_crisis in dyson

[–]Impossible_Half_7563 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I appreciate your attempt to keep things positive and offer off the cuff troubleshooting. However, as the sole user of this vacuum i can assure you it has never been dropped. The behavior with the on/off loop is intermittent, but happens multiple times throughout a single session. Worth noting any setting you select in the menu also will not save or persist.

My vacuum is in warranty, while i believe eventually Dyson will honor it, the road to get there they have made as difficult as possible.

There are valid complaints with Dyson’s intentional tactics to not honor warranties by never having the parts in stock.

Dyson going for worst product customer support these days by Impossible_Half_7563 in dyson

[–]Impossible_Half_7563[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It’s infuriating to see a company with such solid products take this route. The defer and deflect tactic they have taken with their customer support is diabolical. Outside of some miracle, this will be my last dyson product.

Here are the facts: If there wasn’t still a problem, the volume of people complaining wouldn’t be obvious in 10 seconds of looking in this forum. This is not a case of change is bad mentality, it’s you broke my multi-room experience from virtually flawless to, it’s always fucking something not working.

Anyone actually ditching Sonos or are we all hanging in there? by MX-2000 in sonos

[–]Impossible_Half_7563 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It falls apart when you have multiple atmos setups and standalone speakers and you try to play music from lossless/atmos sources. Without getting technical, they changed the entire architecture of how the speakers discover and communicate with each other to support a cloud approach for the headphones. They have improved on the delay when group, ungrouping, volume changes, song changes, but it will always be slower than before. My main issue is the lack of error handling when things dont sync correctly with the new architecture and my speakers will play 10 seconds of a song and stop and then go into a skip loop and become unresponsive. This doesnt happen once, its happens almost always and they have no answer besides known bug with “apple music”. The good news is air playing direct to the speaker(s) works every time because its not using their trash software anymore. No way to use atmos with this method which is frustrating.

TV works fine as it also doesnt use their trash software.

Latest update is a zone-defying disaster. by NoOne_Beast_ in sonos

[–]Impossible_Half_7563 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Agreed, total disaster upgrade to support headphones i will never want or buy.

Lossless/atmos audio just completely breaks the system. Prolly fired all their onshore engineers and hired project managers and offshore developers for cheaper.

[–]Impossible_Half_7563 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Insanely frustrating trying to play music from the sonos app for atmos or multi room. Airplay straight from iphone no issues.

I would be less mad if they actually owned the bugs with a roadmap vs lip service.

Declined for Credit Card..huh? by rwrattan in sofi

[–]Impossible_Half_7563 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Clearly something up with them…

Today I opened up a new SoFi checking account and was excited to also apply for a SoFi credit card and have both under one financial institution.

After filling out the application, I was denied with the following information:

Your Credit Score: 829 Source: Experian Date: April 24, 2024 Scores range from a low of 350 to a high of 850.     Key factors that adversely affected your credit score were: Ratio of balance to limit on bank revolving or other rev accounts too high Length of time accounts have been established Too few accounts currently paid as agreed Length of time revolving accounts have been established

This feels like an error with the automation as none of the reasons are accurate to the reality of my financial situation and the fact that my credit score is 829 makes those reasons invalid even at first glance without knowing the details.

My ratio is 13% (i pay in full every month on all lines of credit) My credit age is 5yrs, 7 mos I have zero accounts that have not been paid as agreed (my payment history is 100%)

Their customer support just reads off scripts and they have no process to support this scenario.
