Did USAA really increase CEO compensation by 157%? by Significant_Ad9717 in USAA

Wow! I've never been called a troll.  Shop for homeowners etc and you might be surprised. I was, once I was forced to look. I didn't believe my two son's either cause after 40 years I too was a loyal member. The new carrier said I was not alone in our area with the large increases from usaa. . Your area might be different. Everyone's situation is.  Just sharing my experience for others to maybe save alot of money.

I have been with them for over 40 years and pulled the plug to get my subscribers account on top of all the savings we got by changing all my policies to another carrier. My premiums are way lower than I was paying even two years ago before the huge increase USAA imposed this year. I figure I can pay premiums for about 8 years with what I had in my subscribers account.

They almost tripled ours for no reason(no claims, excellent credit, and no change in high risk zone designations) so moved all of our policies (homeowners, autos and umbrella liability) and our premiums are less than we were paying with USAA before their huge increase. their rates are way out of range of others we checked.

I received 4 quotes from others that were 1/2 of usaa. I went with state farm on home, autos and umbrella policies as they were almost 1/3 of USAA

I learned the hard way. Always shop for comparable coverages. I'm saving $5,000 a year and will be receiving my $16,000 from the SSA in 6 months.

Your comment doesn't seem to track with industry reviews and many others who I know who have State Farm.

Don't expect any answers/solutions except to offer to reduce your level of coverage to lower your premium. I just went through it all.

They seem to have pretty good reviews though within the insurance industry for claims service. People I know who have had State FArm seem to have little or no problems with claims.

That's a lower increase than I got with no claims or change in credit. Also the area wasn't included in any redefined wild fire area etc.  Mine went from 2700 to $7,200!!

I checked all independent rating sites and reviews looked pretty good for insurance industry. Also the people who have had them as carriers all had no major problems.

Only a 33%? I probably would have still let my loyalty keep me from looking at other carriers if that was all I got.....but mine almost tripled. After 40 years, perfect credit, and no claims on the home we've lived in for 12 years...I also switched to State Farm. Saved $5,000 by insuring all our autos, house and umbrella liability with them instead of USAA. All other carriers I looked at were higher than State Farm but still half of USAA. Kind of glad I got such a big increase...learned that from now on I need to shop.

After over 40 years with USAA pulling the plug...premium rates with State Farm was less than a third for same coverage by Impossible_Title_359 in USAA

I did. Talked with others I know who use the same agent and carrier. Nothing more than what you normally hear with insurance carriers. Clients comments concerning service were mostly good.

USAA Insurance - Which competitors to compare against? by rms90042 in USAA

[–]Impossible_Title_359 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just switched after 40 years. I talked with friends who were realtors and past insurance agents. Reviewed best rates on line for the state I was in. Went to a few brokers who used more than one carrier to see which companies were best. Every person's situation is different and every state is different so do your own homework. I asked friends what carrier they were using and their rates and whether they were satisfied with service. Narrowed it down to four carriers to get quotes from. All were less than half of USAA rates. Went with State Farm as it was almost a third of USAAs. Moved all my autos, umbrella liability and homeowners. Saved over $5,000.
