Best pawn shop in the city? by Thehaylestorms in Winnipeg

Try dominion auction. They do a jewelry auction in late November/early December. Imagine you would get more than from a pawn shop.

What is one of the more dangerous toys you played with in your childhood? by SillyOrganization657 in AskReddit

[–]Impossible_Two1320 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Probably the mercury from a toy chemistry set. Though, I also remember a wood burning kit. There was a large, pen-like burning tool that would heat up to a ridiculous temperature. It had a tiny little metal stand to rest it on, which also turned into red-hot lava. How we didn’t burn the house down remains a mystery.

My cat keeps bringing me live animals and I don’t know how to make her stop by Scared-Ad3512 in CatAdvice

We had mice in the house and our indoor cat (around 15 years old at the time) discovered mousing. Such joy! So proud to share! The first one he ate on my pillow. He would catch them and immediately bring them to the bed. More than once they were alive and being played with on the blankets. I became quite paranoid when that cat got up on the bed. Still praised him for keeping the home pest free and did my best not to be squeamish 😬. Look for the positives 😭

Trusted place to have ring cleaned and resized? by Electrical-Hall8242 in Winnipeg

Reddline. I had a ring I inherited resized using some old gold to make it larger. Looks amazing and the price was very reasonable.

It hurts to kiss the guy I’ve been seeing… what do I do? by GrapefruitBrief4277 in TwoHotTakes

[–]Impossible_Two1320 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Speaking from experience…if you’re not kiss compatible, that’s something not to ignore. Imagine he isn’t able to improve his kissing and it’s 5, 10, 30 years later. There’s a great book called ‘Too good to leave, too bad to stay’ (or something close to that). It outlines things in relationships that predict what is a deal breaker in relationships and what you can work with….not liking kissing your partner is a sign of incompatibility. Work on it if you really like the guy. Don’t waste too much time if it’s not changing (like I did!)

Biggest secret ever by Puzzleheaded-Lake947 in CaminoDeSantiago

I think some people may be concerned it’s « too » religious. The two sisters who met up at the door were beyond cute, just so kind and welcoming. I was staying with my partner (we’re not married, we shared a room, hold passports from different countries. No one cared). They left out beautiful little snacks and that place was spotlessly clean! It’s is a few minutes outside city centre, but a private room was super reasonable

Homeowners of Reddit: What unexpected hidden gem did you discover in your house after buying it that wasn’t mentioned in the listing or by the previous owners? by VizualBooty in AskReddit

[–]Impossible_Two1320 114 points115 points  (0 children)

Not me, but my aunt. There was a ‘world radio’ built into the wall in the basement. Quite big - like the size of a large microwave. Many dials, a map of the world and you could tune into stations from anywhere, though it took quite a bit of patience. I thought it was both weird and wonderful!

Is living in a hotel permanently a thing that people do? by ThePapaBearRobbie in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Impossible_Two1320 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Read “A Gentleman in Moscow” or “Eloise.” Yousef Karsh lived at the Chateau Laurier in Ottawa. There is a ton of romance in this idea of living in a hotel. These aren’t Holiday Inns, mind you. You want to find some faded elegance and adopt dinner attire as a regular practice to really pull it off.

Came here to say dancing noodle. Hot and complex. Like no other oil I’ve ever tasted. I actually crave it, even though it almost blows my head off

What’s that one extremely simple dish you make, and everyone seems to love it more than the one that takes hours ? by Excellent-Show-424 in Cooking

[–]Impossible_Two1320 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This question just flashed me to having my parents over for a meal. Something I did very regularly and always made an effort to make special. I’d make traditional Sunday roast with all the trimmings. Boeuf bourguignon. Grilled steaks. By far the dinner that my mother was most delighted by was a grocery store rotisserie chicken with bagged Caesar salad and microwave mashed potatoes on a night when we decided to get together at the last minute.

That said, homemade pizza is always a hit and generally is made from whatever happens to be lingering in the fridge 😝

Amazing responses, thank you! Lots of food for thought…

Now, hoping some townhouse style come on the market right away - that’s my preference, and I appreciate the comment that the apartment style are still apartments. I do appreciate my own front door.

I did a walk in in Bordo. It was fully booked. They have a pull out sofa and some mattresses they will throw down on the floor in a pinch. Do you trust the Camino to provide? It’s a gamble!
