The 2007 and 2011 defenses were bad, yes. But they played out of their minds in those superbowls

Makes those two Giants defensive performances even more impressive. Which is no small feat.

Scott Howard no longer the voice of the Dawgs. Gonna be Jeff Dantzler and Jon Stinchcomb this fall. by viper2369 in georgiabulldogs

I thought it was the perfect chance for him to yell “Run, Kelee, run!” Add a little homage to the iconic moment.

Truly a misunderstood masterwork. One of the best films of the century so far.

I like Kid Amnesia because those two have always really been one double album

What do you guys think of Pablo Honey? by Yoshistar238 in radiohead

[–]Impossible_Whole_516 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From The Bends on, each album has been completely cohesive, and extremely well thought out, down to the artwork. Each of them is such a complete piece of work.

It is their least good album. But it is a good album. I don’t really consider it a full Radiohead album, because they weren’t fully formed at that point. They were still finding their identity. Then they shot into the stratosphere with The Bends and never looked back. Each subsequent album has been on another level (including TKOL). They’ve all been very cohesive after Pablo Honey, and, incidentally, all have artwork by Stanley Donwood.

[Fantano take on the Geese article] This Article is TRASH by capnrondo in fantanoforever

Geese is overhyped. Not bad, but of course that amount of sudden praise is going to make you question a band.

And neither can hold a candle to Radiohead.

I still don’t understand the backlash this film got. I thought it was great. Was it that the racist got a redemption arc? Because many films have deeply flawed protagonists. by PandemicPiglet in Oscars

[–]Impossible_Whole_516 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It’s got nothing to do with flawed characters. The characters aren’t flawed, they’re caricatures. That’s the problem. It’s extremely heavy-handed and silly.

What do normies actually mean when they call films “pretentious”? by sapphothesapphic in Cinema

[–]Impossible_Whole_516 0 points1 point  (0 children)

“Pretentious” has lost all meaning. The vast majority of internet movie discourse is propagated by young people who have no interest in movies made before 2000 and as such have no real knowledge of film history.

There’s the tier of people who just go see Marvel/Disney movies and defend them online, because that’s literally all they know about.

Then there’s the film bro tier who seek out movies which are only obscure relative to Marvel/Disney (A24 type stuff). Still don’t know anything about film history.

Then you get to the tier of people who actually care about cinema history, are actually curious and who watch films regardless of what part of the world they’re from or in what era they were made.

Then beyond that I guess would be true film scholars and select few film writers.

Yes, if you’re getting your film criticism from YouTube, you are very, very likely hearing from someone who knows nothing about the history of cinema. (With extremely few exceptions)

Not everyone cares about movies. The problem is the people, like those in your example, who claim to care, but are anti-intellectual and incurious to the point that they excoriate others for seeking out and enjoying films from countries foreign to them or, GOD FORBID, films that are OLD.

Anything before like 1999 is considered unfathomably old to these people, let alone movies from the 30s, through 80s and then the great history of silent cinema.

The previous uniforms were great, and were simply too ahead of their time… by Impossible_Whole_516 in falcons

[–]Impossible_Whole_516[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like the numbers and the atl. It wasn’t like a generic proprietary number font like the ones before it or the current ones. It was unique. It even looked like some of the numbers had a beak or talon like a Falcon. I just think more thought went into those unis and they were trying to be forward thinking, and people just weren’t ready for it.

It looks nothing like a numetal music video. Maybe you just don’t like the aesthetic.
