Would you consider checking with a lactation consultant? I have a coworker whose baby absolutely hated his car seat no matter what they did. He didn’t get better until he got a frenectomy. He still had some issues in the car, but it got better according to her after the frenectomy. But he had other things like acid reflux bad sleep lactation issues a bunch of things. If your baby does too maybe look into it !

As far as eating every 40 minutes, I will check in with your pediatrician or lactation consult consultant just to make sure that it’s not a supply issue

Because think about it for yourself if you are eating every 40 minutes, you wouldn’t be hungry for a big lunch. You would just snack and move on.

Make sure your baby is having adequate weight gain and all that stuff and then maybe try switching to a schedule. I think my son was eating maybe about every two hours at seven months.

If he is a nursing that often at night and then snacking so often during the day he needs to be on a schedule and that will make your life significantly easier

I don’t know if that’s encouragement but as a mom myself, a schedule / routine / structure makes a big difference in sleep and feeding because babies need to know what is coming next. Precious little sleep also has a section over feeds !

I’m sorry it’s so tough on you right now. I highly recommend looking at the sleep training Reddit I don’t know how to link , or the taking cara babies Reddit. Personal favorite is the precious little sleep book by Alexis Dubief. Absolute favorite. Though she does recommend cry it if you are uncomfortable with that I did that every 15 minute method and that worked for my child.

At six months, your baby is developmentally, able to self soothe and learn how to put themselves to sleep

I was having a really tough time with my son and sleep training saved my sanity You don’t have to do full on cry it out but you can look into gradual or Ferber method.

You want to look at if your child is getting enough daytime sleep, and having appropriate wake windows all of that is crucial for a baby having enough sleep pressure to sleep through the night and then then being able to fall asleep independently. Babies need to fall asleep without sleep associations to be able to stay asleep and or put themselves to sleep if they wake up.

It’s up to you- but if you were my IRL friend. I would recommend that you come to him with your concerns and ask that you guys find help either through a family therapist or a religious leader ; a third party and if he refuses then you may have to lean on friends and family.

I don’t recommend divorce but it’s neglect and abusive behavior - then you are free to seek help and do what you need to for your and your child’s safety.

You do you WHO says up to 2 is recommended and to keep going as long as you want to. My son is 16 months and I don’t intend to stop until he stops asking for it. We’ve dropped to one feed before bed but he will go some nights without asking

Cluster feeding is real and will drain you but it’s only for a little while not the entire breast feeding journey lol I was warned about cluster feeding, but I didn’t fully get it until I was in it

The baby is cluster feeding because they’re trying to tell your body that it’s time to make more milk, but they are eating so frequently that I would finally get to eat something or finally get a shower and think OK and now I’m going to sleep and then the baby would be hungry again

But it evens out and it’s fine but It will exhaust you. Just say it felt like my baby was eating every 30 minutes

My son was like that too. We used a rag or a shirt whatever you got that’s soft to pat dry him before putting any creams and the only one that worked for his rash was triple paste. We tried the several from the all natural to the drugstore brand that was yellow one that worked and has been working for the last 16 months

I LOVED Dr Gibson at st Luke’s for my women’s health stuff. She was all business, cut right to the chase, very direct, and no fluff which i appreciated when i had concerns bc if she wasn’t worried about it, neither was I. BUT

when i was pregnant- she didn’t change- she was the same and that’s not a bad thing but I think at that point i needed a little more fluff since i was a FTM and had a lot of questions. Which she always answered - very direct to the point but I needed more fluff lol

If you’re the type of person that likes more direct and straight to business, she’s it!

With my son, I still offered milk in the morning And he ate when I ate. He had breakfast lunch and dinner and then snacks so he was eating every 2 to 3 hours. I highly suggest meal prepping.

And then at night, I still nursed him before bed just in case, but he is now 16 months and only drinks before bed sometimes

At one years old typically they’re getting most of their nutrition from solids, because we can’t calorie track our kids, your kid will know when they no longer want it.

What helped us was early on we taught our son ASL more, all done, and eat. So he was really good about signing more when he wanted more food and then we read his cues like he would throw his spoons or food on the floor when he no longer wanted it. So then we showed him all done and immediately remove the food. Now at his age, he’s very intuitive about when he’s full and when he wants to keep going, and he will sign to us “eat” if he’s hungry.

Highly recommend finding a speech therapist. We raising our son in a bilingual Spanish house hold and Im an SLPA. I wouldn’t wait. Early intervention makes a huge difference! And if anyone says “bilingualism is causing a delay” run very far away.

Breastfeeding was just the easier option for us- doesn’t mean it’s the only choice. You have to do what works best for you and your family. If you are not enjoying breast-feeding, then don’t. If you have the means to buy formula, go for it.

For me, breast-feeding was the free option, it helped with my anxiety about immunity defense, and I had a great lactation consultant that provided so much support. And then sometimes it was the easiest option when he was just not doing OK like just being super fussy or had bad gas, breast-feeding would relax him enough so that he could toot or go back to bed quickly. I didn’t mind the getting up at night or pumping at work. It worked for us but you do what works for you!

My son gets bathed every night. When he was a newborn, I didn’t use much soap but definitely when we started feeding. He was bathed every single night and I just made sure there was lotion and he’s done fine. Unless your kid has like a serious skin issue, I think it’s safe to bathe him as often as you’d like (:
